Highly recommend. great price and value for climate controlled self-storage, easy access site on side road by I-70; has a lot of parking/turn around space (unlike a competitor's tight parking on congested street). exterior and units are clean, bigger unit has back shelf for extra capacity. gated entry requiring unique password and another password to enter unit building that has motion sensitive hall lights. wish units had interior lighting. free coffee/water/snacks at office; friendly staff. I was given good service at first. After being in the unit for several months my rent increased substantially and then when I opened my unit I found boxes wet. I notified the office and management was unwilling to help me lift the boxes or help in any way. They got me the main manager who was adamant they never have any leaks, would not help me move to another unit, give me a discount or help me with my boxes that were wet since I'm not strong enough to lift them. Since I had my own insurance he told me to take pictures and deal with them. The gutter system is horrible and goes half way down the outside walls and when it rains hard the water gushes everywhere and my shoes were drenched from the streams of water. As I have called around looking for a unit a lady told me she has waiting lists and happened to mention a couple of ladies on the waiting list had water in their units at this same Storage Master off Hwy 79 in O'Fallon. Walked us through the whole process step by step and gave us the online rate. Move in free truck rental is a great bonus. I chose this storage facility because of the amenities, cost, and location. I thought the rate was great for a climate controlled unit. We moved in last weekend and everything went smoothly. The associate in the office was very nice and helpful. We borrowed the truck. It's definitely a moving truck - no A/C. It was easy to drive and it's nice Storage Masters allows you to use it. One tip for management - Post instructions on how to use the elevator in or just outside the elevator. Also, if there's any way to have door stops for the 2nd floor doors, that would be awesome. All in all, we're pretty satisfied with Storage Masters in O'Fallon. read more

They will not give you a straight answer as to how frequently they increase the rent and how much they increase the rent. That makes me weary of keeping my items there long term. Also, their front gate is broken and even though I was told it is in the process of being fixed it has been broken for over two months. I wish they would find a more diligent repair contractor. Everything was fine at first, then at the beginning of the year they raised the price, at that time the gate had not been working right for at least a week. Then a month ago we had trouble with the elevator 4 times, one of which my wife and our stuff had almost got stuck in the elevator. Just moved in to storage masters. I found the unit to be clean and appreciate the loft area to store additional items. The location is convenient and secure. I rate this 3 stars because I felt the advertisement was misleading when I reserved the unit. Only a few sizes noted a cost reduction for multiple months in the ad and I chose one of those since I anticipate a 2 month need. As I arrived I was told that rate was subject to availability. Since the unit was still available I again thought the discount would and should apply. I was then told it did not apply because it was the last unit of that size and feel by not renting to me the locker essentially could be rented at a higher price. I still rented the unit because of the convenient location to my home and a "internet "rate" (different than the online rate) could be had making it comparable to another unit in town. I will now try to stay only one month and feel there was a bit of bait and switch involved with the online ad. All being said I'm happy with the unit I rented and it meets my needs exactly as I would have hoped. I did not use the moving truck but feel it is a nice perk for others. read more

The poorest handeling of customers' concerns -- gave a 7% rate increase without even a month's notice of the increase. Talked to one of the managers Kevin very rude, and has no clue how to work with customers -- more than once he came across very arrogant. His boss Brian, seemed to be very kind and easy going ... but wow stroke him the wrong way and he blew up like a keg of dynamite. When trying to simply find out about the way in which they did the rate increase... he became very indignate and began yelling and screaming at me on the phone, until I had to hang up on him... wow!!! I need another storage place. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL! .. Also seems like they can not keep employees. VERY unprofessional ... and they will increase your rent within 6 months and then every year. If you need them for a couple of months... they will give you the first month free -- and then you can leave after that first month... .. not bad. a very bad experience for my family and I. read more

The facility is very nice and clean. The option for the moving truck is a great perk as well. We only gave 3 stars because we were very unhappy with the information given or lack thereof. We were not told that there was a mandatory insurance fee that had to be paid. When we asked about the fee, we were told it was their policy. However, they could not produce a copy of the policy stating such. Not being upfront with new customers is not a good way to keep customers. They need to work on their communication. Other than that, we are satisfied with the unit. read more

Very disappointed in the outcome. I didn't need the unit until after May 7th and told the employees as such (one was from corporate as well and was very demeaning to the employee that was helping me, I almost left because of the way he was talking down to her and treating her), but only one unit was available for the size I needed so I was told if I didn't rent it it probably would not be available. I attempted to move in on May 9th but the design of the entrance to the unit would not allow me to move my pallets into the unit. I talked with the site manager at the time and tried for 2 hours to move my stuff into the storage unit without success. I told the site manager I would need to cancel my rental as the unit would not work for my situation. He told me I would not get a refund, which made me extremely unappreciative of this company. They would not even pro-rate me which would have been fine, as I understand I had it off the market for 9 days while I was organizing my move. But to just take my money and not even offer a satisfactory solution, just an oh well tough luck attitude, I will definitely tell anyone I know looking for storage to avoid this place. I was in need of several more storage units but this company will not get my business and I will do everything in my power to let people know of my experience. Very disappointed in how this was handled as I am in the retail business and would NEVER treat my customers like this! read more
