Our move was to take two days, and on day 1 they were to send 4 people to work 8 hours, and they only sent 3 people who worked just half of that day. Next day, 5 people were supposed to come, but the same 3 people came, and the move went until nearly 1 in the morning. In spite of the greatly reduced staff for moving, the bill ended up almost twice what we were estimated given the full resources. We pushed back, and they met us halfway. One of the three was untrained (Simple Moves told us this after the fact) and he ended up damaging our breakfront display. In the three months since our move, Simple Moves has not followed up once on this issue. They sent somebody by to confirm the damage, and then we were supposed to hear from someone who would repair the piece, or else get money from their insurance. None of that has happened. Their primary argument to us about all of the things that went wrong is that this is endemic to the moving industry and we should be grateful they showed up at all. read more

We hired Simple Moves to pack and move a senior citizen. During their work, items came up missing...watches, Polo cologne, and money. We complained to the management - they made no efforts towards handling the complaint. We filed a police report. SImple moves made no efforts towards handling to locate or compensate. Additionally, they quoted one price and charged twice as much claiming it was because of the long hall. Two months later we had to move the senior citizen again. I hired Dodge Mayflower and they charged the smaller amount. They moved the same items down the same hallway but used a smarter system. read more

THEY WILL STEAL YOUR STUFF!!!!!!! UNPROFESSIONAL, UNTRUSTWORTHY AND ABSOLUTELY INFURIATING!!!! If I could give zero stars, I would. This company rescheduled my move TWICE!!!! Disrupting my plans and wasting my time. But the real nightmare began after the move was finally completed. Several of my designer items were stolen. Yes, STOLEN. We're talking Christian Louboutin heels, Tory Burch purses, UGGs, Kate Spade bags, and more--totaling THOUSANDS of dollars!!!! These were not misplaced. They were picked up from previous residence, and never delivered to the new one. A police report has been filed. To make matters worse, the company responded with evasive excuses and finger-pointing, hiding behind their movers' so-called "excellent track record" instead of owning up to the theft. The stolen items weren't buried or hidden--they were in transparent cases, plainly visible and unmistakable. Just a blatant disregard for responsibility. Simple Moves refuses to do anything about my loss since I do not have proof of purchase for the items that were gifted to me. That same company claims to be reputable. Two men from Simple Moves carefully moved a large disassembled shelving unit made of iron and wood from University City to Downtown St. Louis for a flat rate. The men wrapped the wooden shelves in padding. The large iron pieces were positioned in the moving van so that they would not get damaged. I will use Simple Moves again in the future. read more

I had two crates/pods in storage with this company since August that were supposed to be delivered Saturday.... They completely and totally lost one of the pods. I have no idea how you lose a 6 by 6 by 8 foot crate but they managed too. They took over 48 hours to respond to my frantic phone calls and only called today for the very very rude manager, Mae, to claim I only had one crate and the only items they did not deliver are two book shelves they forgot to put on the truck. This is a flat out lie. In addition to losing all my kitchen supplies, a lot of which was expensive and nice, they also lost all my Christmas stuff including sentimental items from my grandmas and aunts who are passed away. I also am a musician and all of my bands CDs were lost, like all the albums we had printed to sell, hundreds of them worth thousands of dollars. They cannot be replaced because I no longer have the masters to two of the three records or the art work to any of them. They literally lost a whole pod of irreplaceable items. I am dealing with a high risk pregnancy, and last week a small part of my placenta tore and I am at risk for going into labor early and am not allowed to do physical labor and am supposed to be avoiding stress. All this may very likely end up hurting my baby. Simple Moves knows this and do not care at all. I should have known after they did a bad job with the packing and moving services not to trust them, but I was pregnant, sick, and down to the wire time wise, and it honestly didn't occur to me it would be possible for them to mess up this badly. I am exploring legal options, but nothing can make up for this. Please please please please do not use this company. read more

Horrible experience. So many pieces of furniture damaged. King mattress ripped open, stuffing out. Door off buffet. Dent marks on dressers where the dresser was pushed up against ribs of truck. Leg missing on night stand. Stained fabric headboard. Tool chest dented. Sectional broken and ripped. My father in law's Vietnam war memorabilia was put in a tote by us and wrapped to protect his metals and photos. The tote was broken and dumped upside down in a box of Christmas decor for us to find. What's worse? They don't tell you about any of the damages. They place the items in your home and DON'T tell you because you have 48 hours to notify them. So, if you don't notify them they don't get penalized. Owners do not care. We were paid about $200 for thousands worth of broken furniture. read more

The movers who showed up reeked of weed, they chipped multiple doors, and also clogged my toilet without fixing it. They took a long time disassembling the furniture and did not even put it back together at the destination. When I asked the company to compensate me for the damage, they offered a 15 min credit and were quite rude and unresponsive on it. These guys were terrific. I didn't think what they did could actually be done!! They moved the treadmill from upstairs to the basement and put it exactly where I wanted it. They were very nice and friendly and I would recommend them to anyone that needs something moved. My experience ranged from awesome to ok to could've been better. There was nothing that occurred to make me say I'll never use them again, but I will likely use someone else when I have to move things again next year. Thorough detailed breakdown is as follows... WHAT WAS GREAT: - Initial contact and scheduling. Ali and Tony were both very friendly and helpful when I called to inquire about rates and availability. They were able to assist with moving on short notice. They asked sufficient questions and provided an estimate based on my answers. They also provided tips on how to make the move go smoother for both me and their movers. - *The company provides moving blankets, wraps, tools to disassemble and reassemble furniture, etc. (*more on this later) - *They pointed out existing damage to ensure I knew what was already damaged before they moved it further. (*more on this later) - The movers each introduced themselves upon arrival and entering my home - *The movers did a walk through to confirm what all they would be moving. (more on this later) - *They informed me when I was approaching the 4 hour mark that was quoted within my estimate (more on this in the dislikes) What was ok: Rates. Moving is expensive. Period. Their prices are pretty much in line with other local reputable moving companies. For 3 men and 1 truck it was 190/hr plus the $125 travel fee. 2 hour minimum. They charge per minute after the first 2 hours. What I DID NOT LIKE: 1 - All of that packing/moving material provided by the company was barely put to use. A couple of pieces were wrapped and stayed wrapped; others, not so much. I even had a light colored chair and sofa covered with blankets, but they removed those. When I peeked in the truck, those items were bare and touching dirty surfaces and surroundings. Due to them not keeping furniture wrapped from Point A to Point B, several of my mom's expensive furniture pieces have chunks missing (new damage; not including any prior/preexisting damages). Remember, they were quick to point out preexistent damage, but mum to tell me about what they damaged. I don't trip too much over material things, but I can hear my mom fussing from Heaven. lol So if you use them to move antique/valuable items, you may want to wrap them yourself so they cannot remove it until your final destination. 2 - I paid $190/hr for 3 men. Sometimes 3 men were working. Sometimes only one or 2 were working. 3 - They parked the truck at the end of the driveway instead of coming down the driveway. This would be fine in a normal area, but this was a house in the woods; the driveway was long. So they had to walk @ 1/4 mile from the house to the street. This easily added an hour to my bill. I mentioned several times that they could park in the driveway but they driver said he was afraid to damage the grass. Again, this is country woods. Everyone parks and drives on the grass for various reasons, and I told them this, but they wouldn't budge. 4 - During the walkthrough, I informed them that they'd be moving all of the boxes in the basement storage area. As the 4 hour mark neared, nothing in the basement had been moved yet. He then said the truck was almost full and they were out of straps, and had he known they'd be moving boxes he would've built a wall (of boxes). So now there was no room for all of those boxes. 5 - As we hit the 3hr 15min mark (roughly; don't recall the exact time), they stopped working because they said they couldn't exceed the 4 hour mark without approval (my move estimate was for 4 hours and I expressed that I was on a tight budget, so I actually appreciate this part). However, the mover wanted me to call the office to get approval. I was on another business call and couldn't hang up. *I told the mover to call and I'd give the ok, but that didn't happen (until later). Once I was off my call, I called the Simple Moves number but the answering service said they were unavailable. Eventually the driver called a manager's cell phone, I gave the ok, and they proceed to move the final few prices that could fit on the truck. Mind you, all of this took about 45 minutes to an hour to sort out. The guy said he stopped the clock during that time but based on the final bill and my stop-clock, Simple Moves had 45 minutes of additional time from what I had recorded (that wasn't worked). 6 - 29% service charge for using your credit card on the final bill. I paid a $100 deposit when making the reservation; no fee for using my credit card then. There's no mention of this anywhere in the documents and estimates they emailed to me, nor was I verbally informed of this. Only after they'd moved everything and it was time to pay that they hit me with an additional $30 for using my credit card. I don't like it. So again, not the worst, but certainly not the best. Maybe they really are just best for...simple moves. read more

Despite my shortcomings, Simple Moves is always courteous and willing to work with me to make my move as smooth as possible. Every individual I have encountered has been professional and the movers treat my belongings as if they were their own. I'm giving them 1 star because the movers were find but they accidentally broke a light fixture when moving a large bookcase, I contacted their office right away. I was assured I'd be reimbursed for the replacement costs. I sent them all the information they requested and was told it would take about a week for the check to arrive, this was right before Thanksgiving. when it didn't arrive I called again and was told their accountant didn't send it but they gave me no explanation why. I was assured they were sending a check that week. When that one didn't arriveI called and they said it had gone out the following week. when it still didn't arrive 2 weeks later I was told they could resend it but I said I would pick it up. so i drove to their office and was told the account didn't come in that day and they would just credit my card for the cost of the fixture and my time for driving to their office. They then gave me a printed receipt showing the credit to my card. When I got home I looked at my account online and the credit was pending. But then the next day I looked to be sure it had gone through and the credit was no longer pending nor did it go through. They lied all along. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! read more

Wow! I'm surprised at the rating of this company; I wonder if they are authentic. Well, on the good side I guess you can say the movers didn't damage any walls when taking furniture out, but they did about an hour and a half of work in four hours (I took out more and had to excuse myself to the worker who sat in the doorway as I brought furnishing out), they up ended couches and pushed upholstery in direct contact with truck floor (no pad used), they took apart items and left parts all over, and loaded truck so poorly I had to rent a second and finish the job myself. On top they ask for a tip and you feel obliged to be generous, since one of the movers looked recently incarcerated and had that shank you in a heartbeat vibe going. This isn't really a moving company; it's a take your money company posing as movers. read more

Was really disappointed . We had a simple one bedroom move . First, explained no one was living in house ; and had made arrangements at a specific time to meet . Came over an hour early and left . Refused to come back . Came the next day smelling of marijuana. Had been told we would be able to access our things if we stored with them .Not the case! They were extremely rude about allowing us access . Made it as hard as they could . When they delivered the items ; were so drunk . First thing in the morning .
