Had a VERY negative experience with all star moving. It started with pushy texts about booking. Walked through showing all the art on the walls to pack and confirmed the services. When the movers arrived, the youngest one didn't know how to pack art. (The primary bulk of our move) and a supervisor had to "teach" him. He then proceeded to pack my art in ways that likely damaged it. (See attached photos) I called the owner to let him know what was going on and before I could explain fully, he interrupted and said "I'm sending the guys back". I would've let him know they were still here and explained further what was happening. (Which was that I asked them to just start moving and would unpack the poorly packed boxes myself, after sending him photos) When Matt arrived he asked to see the boxes. I told him I already started unpacking them. He said "well how am I supposed to know how bad it is?" I said "the photos I sent". I guess this is the point he thought I was trying not to pay for anything and attempted to cancel the job right there, claiming they were not a good fit, but not to worry, I wouldn't be charged. I said "I want to pay your team". He said "could've fooled me". He then proceeds to tell me he didn't remember about the art that was packing. (Why did we do a walk through then?) and that I don't know how to move. (No kidding, that's why I hired you), that HE supervises his staff, not me. (The only thing I asked his head guy to do was confirm if a box should look like that and he said no. That's when I called the owner.) This company is incredibly overpriced, lacks transparency, sends high school kids to pack boxes, and then blames the customer upon complaint. I insisted on paying, but they took an hour off my bill. (I believe this is fair financially as they were only here for 3) However, beware of this company and the tactics they use to pressure you to book, and the kids they send to do the work. read more

I chose All Star Moving because they reached out to me quickly and made it a personable initial contact with a real text message from a real person plus they had an amazing estimate compared to other moving companies. My experience was seamless. I made sure to contact the company IN TIME for rescheduling and they worked with me rescheduling (waiting for the place to be ready) until my actual move day! Move day was seamless, the estimate was really close! I will tell anyone that wants to hire movers PACK EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. The three guys came on move day ON TIME. They were all 3 professional, and moving the entire time. I appreciate the handle of care with all my things. Everything was packed into their truck and unloaded in a breeze. All Star Moving exceeded my expectations! While calling around for an efficient and professional company, I spoke with the owner's mother named Kathy. She provided me with all of the logistics for a smooth transition from one property to the next that occurred in the same day. With the process of moving, one knows that it can raise the levels of stress unintentionally. However, the crew arrived on time and took a survey of the household items, within the home, that I submitted to Kathy prior to the move. This is a godsend moving company! They are professional and worked quickly and harmoniously with one another. I must admit I was impressed and appreciative of their work ethic. This meant a lot to me because none of my household items were broken within the transition. I had a lot of items. This move was a true testament of their strength and endurance to complete the job while keeping a good attitude. I've moved many many many times in my life and I've hired a lot of companies but this one put faith back into my hiring a reputable company with DOT license and morals, ethics, and a sense of humor, friendliness and respect for one another and the individual the homeowner. Lastly, with moving there will be nick here or there. Reality. There were a few in the hallway going down into the basement, but they handled the heavy items that were placed there, with care and ease. There were a few scratches on the wall but the Owner came to the home and repaired them! As if it never occurred! I was BLESSED to have hired this company! Let's just be really honest, moving is stressful. The planning, packing, paying for it all can be one of life's most difficult moments-even if you are heading to new opportunities and adventures. I consulted Yelp, submitted a request for a moving bid and Matt H. from All Star gave me a call. From the start he asked the right questions, he came over and walked through our home, he made careful notes and he explained in detail what his company would do. We had other companies come in and offer bids as well. Matt worked harder, was more communicative and realistic and his bid was on par with the others. But...here's the best part. Our posessions would be on a dedicated truck-not mixed in with other stuff piled on a corporate semi and we would be loaded and unloaded by Matt's team and our stuff would be delivered within a days time...not 10 days later. We went with All Star Moving and I'm super glad we did. Matt and his guys were professional, polite and hard working. They dispatched a team to our storage unit and picked up the extra stuff we had in our 10x10, they checked, double checked, wrapped and padded and stacked our belongings securely into their trucks. Matt's guys were polite-fun to talk to and personable. They were careful and conscientious. I can't say enough good things about Matt and All Star. Matt and team are the best. We just moved out of state to PA from STL and the smoothest part of the entire process was these guys. Matt and I talked a few weeks ahead of the move, agreed on a plan and a very fair price. Come the big weekend, the team of 4 packed our entire house in ~6 hours, packed everything into trucks the next day with a team of 7 in ~6 hours. Towed my Mazda 3 over the course of the next day and met us at our new house exactly on time and unpacked just as quickly as they loaded. When I had to move unexpectedly the first company I called was All Star. I used them for my move in 2016 and was more than pleased. Of course I went to the office to talk with Kathy and as before she calmed my anxiety and assured me they would be there for me. Move was scheduled 12/11/23 9am. They called and said they were on the way and arrive at 9am sharp. I ordered 3 men and luckly Matt the owner was one of them. The move was seamless, and 4 hours later all my things were in the new apt. These men were professional, kind and focused on providing the Best service ever. Of course I adore Kathy, who happens to be Matt's Mom. Family owned and operated business that's a credit to our community. I've used All Star Moving the past 2 moves while living in STL. Both times have been good experiences moving from neighborhood to neighborhood, with friendly workers (who work HARD) and no worries on my part. Reserving a date is easy over the phone, and they remind you with a phone call the day beforehand. Their prices are competitive but be aware of their 3% credit card charge. This last time, I asked the movers to move a couch into my basement which did not fit down the stairs. Trying to get it downstairs left a gouge in my wall. After contacting All Star Moving about this, they promptly responded to my concern and offered to cut me a check to fix the hole in my wall. I was impressed by their attention to my issue. Overall, moving is a stressful experience no matter what, but I'm comfortable with All Star and trust them with my stuff. read more

I first want to say that the crew of movers at All Star are great. Every mover that we interacted with has a great personality, are tireless in their efforts and sincerely want to do a good job. The owner, Matt, on the other hand, is the reason why I will never work with All-Star again. He becomes defensive quickly at the sign of any frustration or concern on your part. I would even go so far as to say he can become extremely rude and offensive. He has not taken the time to create an efficient scheduling system, and his business clearly suffers for it (I noticed that several of their poor reviews are due to the company's inability to confirm scheduling in a consistent manner). After working with All-Star on several large moves in the past, I called to schedule another move. I distinctly remember telling Kathy (their back-office) the exact date that I needed them to move my furniture. She mentioned that Matt would still want to come by to do an inventory of the items, which I was fine with. Unfortunately, however, I assumed that my date was reserved since I said several times that I absolutely need a move on XX date. Several weeks later, I called to confirm that we were all set to go for this weekend, only to find that they did not have me on the schedule. Kathy's response? "You never called to confirm after Matt reviewed your house". This step had not been communicated to me as a requirement, and is an unnecessary extra step to require of the customer anyway. When someone calls to schedule a move with you, shouldn't they at least be penciled in on the calendar (especially when those people have worked with you on numerous occasions in the past)? And shouldn't they be given the opportunity to back out if someone else requests the spot? After going to all the trouble to come to my home, inventory my house, and provide an estimate, it would seem so logical and easy to pencil me in and provide me with an opportunity to say "yes, I still want the spot" or "no, sorry, I've gone with someone else" vs. just fill the time with someone else? For goodness sake, making a reservation at a restaurant or the hair salon works this way and they are a fraction of the time and effort (and price). But things go from unfortunate to bad next. Kathy mentions that they could move me on Sunday instead. Of course, I'm happy to take that spot. Except I then receive a call a few hours later from Matt "Unfortunately we have an out of town move Sunday. We didn't have it on our calendar, so Kathy didn't know about it". Wait, let me get this straight. Your back-office admin doesn't have updated information in your calendaring system? And here's where the absolute worst happens: I say to Matt "Matt, I can't believe this is happening" (remember, it's Monday and I thought I was supposed to be moving with these guys this Saturday). "I still can't believe I'm not on your schedule for Saturday". Big mistake on my part. Matt immediately loses his temper with me, raises his voice, and begins saying things like "Look! I'm not answering the phones! I can't control what Kathy does!!...." and on and on. Last I checked, when you own/run a company, every member of your team finding success in their jobs is your responsibility. I am a CEO of a company and this is how I feel my employees - and customers - should be treated. Completely shocked by his response, I inform him that we will not need his services anyway and hang up. The man who owns this company does not take responsibility for his team (certainly not his scheduler / back office support), is running a company that clearly is unable or unwilling to be relied on for an extremely important activity in a person's life (few things more stressful than moving, right?!), and will yell at you if you are unhappy. Keep scrolling - there are other companies that will serve you MUCH better. Btw, we booked another company (Bellhop) that has automated scheduling systems, is the same price, and their team has followed up several times already with details about our move. I've also worked with Across Town Movers and McGuire and they are all fantastic. read more

My friend recently used All Star for a move, and she had an extraordinarily bad experience with the owner, Matt. All Star required that she remove her negative review before they would reimburse her money for their poor service. However, if I were shopping for reliable movers, I would want to be warned. I would want to have access to this review: I used All Star for a recent move. When the movers showed up (I hired two) one immediately excused himself to the bathroom where he remained for 10-15 minutes. The other mover told me they had been out drinking until 2:00 am the night before. The mover who used the bathroom, later in the day was MIA for around 20 minutes, when he reappeared I overheard the other mover say 'nice to see you again.' By the end of the move, both were moving slowly which added to the time of the move. They had to make two runs to get all my belongings which I did find frustrating as I had completed their document identifying all my belongings to be moved, which they said would be used to ensure they had a big enough truck. This also added time to the move. During the move they dropped my dryer, which I'm glad I was present to witness. When I asked this be notated on the receipt, the mover acted nervous but did document it. The dryer is fine and none of my other belongings appear to have been damaged. I contacted the office to report my concerns and request a reimbursement of the last 30 minutes of the move. I was told my concerns would be looked into and I would be contacted with a resolution. A week went by and I did not hear back from anyone so I called the office. The woman excused the movers' behavior as 'industry standard,' stated the movers were family men and not drinkers, and that she had not discussed the extended bathroom session 'because that's personal, what do you want to happen about that?' My concerns were completely disregarded as well as implied to be un-true. The person I was speaking to said she would again discuss the option of a reimbursement with the owner and follow up with me. A couple hours later, the owner Matt, called me. He was argumentative from the beginning, defending the behaviors of his worker, implying I was misinterpreting events and dismissive of what I was saying. I got straight to the point and asked if a 30 minute reimbursement was an option to which he laughed and said no. I said there was no longer a need for this conversation to continue as he was only fighting with me. He talked over me and said 'you complained about them being hung over, when in reality it was you who was hung over.' At this point I told him good bye and ended the call. Yes I was hung over, but I wasn't the one who had been hired to move. My state of being has nothing to do with this situation, and his comment shows he had no legs to stand on in defense of his worker and was lashing out. Reviews on here dating back to 2014 report similar behaviors from Matt. If the owner, Matt, responds to my review, I expect it will be subjective, emotional, defensive, and insulting towards me. Very satisfied with my recent long distance move with All Star Moving. I had to move one room from St Louis to New York. I reached out to several national and local to St Louis companies for quotes. All Star was not the cheapest quote I received, more like in the middle of the range, but their price included everything which I liked. All of the big national companies gave me a lower price but had a lot of extra add-ons, for example: to deliver the boxes to me in NYC they had to unload my items outside of the city and transfer it to a small truck (called shuttle service) for a few hundred dollars plus $75 per person to unload and reload the boxes on to the smaller truck. There were several add-ons like this on the other quotes I received which could have added up to be an additional $1,000-$2,000.00, so I really appreciated All Stars all-inclusive price. Another bonus was my dates were flexible so I was able to coordinate my STL-NY move with another customer's already scheduled NY-STL move which shaved a little bit off the price. In terms of the actual service everyone was great, from communicating with the office to my interactions with the movers. I paid for packing service as well as moving and they did a good job packing everything, nothing broke or was damaged, and they even labeled the boxes even though I had not thought to ask them to do that. I only moved boxes (no furniture) so I can't say anything about that, but overall I am very happy with this move and glad I took the time to research several different companies and found All Star Moving. The only downside to the move was there is a 3% service change to pay with a credit card. read more

Moved our biggest items for us without any noticeable new scratches on our old inherited furniture. Shopped around and they do have the best prices but charge 3% on credit cards. They do have a 2 hour minimum and can handle cross country moves. We planned our move mostly because of two items we couldn't carry ourselves. Those two items? One they scratched the heck out of our hallway so we are less likely to get back our full security deposit. Also they didn't take it out the way we told them to until they wasted 20 minutes on other doors we knew wouldn't work. Then we had to coach them how to move it through because in fairness it is hard to see with a giant couch in your face. The other was an IKEA piece they told us to basically completely take it apart then put it back together again. If this is their advice, they should share it on the phone! They insisted we sign a waver to move this piece because IKEA can fall apart if poorly assembled or it happens to be an item of cheap materials. When we were done, we asked a question about billing time. Considering having them move stuff around as we decided where we wanted it. "Don't worry about it." Then we stopped and offered them lunch. Some in our group suggested just to have the movers do it all. Of course they said yes. Went back to our apartment, moved boxes back to our new house, and this time we insisted they take the IKEA armoire. We weren't going to damage it less in a truck. It was perfectly fine. I'm so mad they didn't take it in our first trip when that's what we called them for. At the end of the day, the bill came and obviously it was for the whole time since they were scheduled to arrive in the morning. Not when they first touched furniture, not when they talked to us, but scheduled start time to when they left. We fed them on the clock? And to drive twice plus slowly wind down twice and all of it was on their hours. If you control the time, great. If you want to add anything, call them a different day. It is not worth it to ever send them back for more. Make a plan and stick with it. Except when they bizarrely refuse IKEA. Not all their stuff is crap falling apart. Basically good movers that just rubbed me the wrong way. read more

We had fairly high expectations of these guys based on yelp reviews and the promptness of their callback to schedule our move. For context, we were moving from a 2 bedroom apartment (more like 1 bed+den, furniture-wise) to a similarly sized place literally 8 minutes away. We had all the boxes packed, furniture set up ready to go, the moving guys even said we were making it too easy. It started out well, 3 solid, hard-working guys got the stuff in the truck in about 2.5 hours. That is technically the more difficult part of moving, since they have to wrap everything up carefully it takes longer than the unload. Unfortunately, once the truck was packed, things started to fall apart. First, one guys peace'd out, without so much as an explanation. When we arrived at the new place, the main guy Joe said that this was because that guy was actually just filling in for someone who couldn't make it at the last minute, and he had some personal stuff to take care of so he could not stay for the whole move. That left us just 2 guys to do the whole unload, which ended up taking over 3.5 hours to finish. The entire process took 6 hours, when it would have taken just 4 if we had all 3 men that we reserved. They did charge us the appropriately cheaper rate for those 2-man hours, but we felt like we should have gotten more of a discount having had our time wasted and not being informed of the situation from the get-go. Next, it turned out they broke off a piece of our crate and barrel ottoman. Joe said someone would contact us the next day to assess the damage. 2-3 days go by with not a peep from the same people who took exactly 10 mins to call us when we were first booking their business. We email them a few times, call and leave messages a few times. It takes over 1 week and several angry conversations to finally get their repairman to stick some wood glue on our furniture. All in all, the actual movers seemed like good hard-working people, but the management of our entire situation seemed mishandled. We expected much more from a company that on the surface appeared to be universally liked. read more

I never thought of myself as someone that would have to use a moving company, but when my landlord suddenly became erratic and volatile, I consulted with good ol' Yelp and went with All Star Moving. I hate that I had to pay for something I would have been capable of doing under normal circumstances, but the crew at All Star Moving were nearly perfect and a pleasure to deal with. As I mentioned above, my landlord was making life difficult and scary for me so I had to get out of there ASAP. My apartment was huge as well as a few floors up, with NO elevator. They said they needed to come out to look it over to give me an estimate due to the difficulty of the logistics. I was afraid my landlord would cause a scene or spite me if he realized I was planning on moving out so I asked All Star to not wear a uniform that made it apparent they worked for a moving company when they came to give me an estimate.They were extremely understanding and accommodating with the fragile situation. When moving day came along, I wasn't done packing up boxes but they were very understanding and disassembled & wrapped all of my furniture while I finished packing boxes. - *MOVING TIP* HAVE ALL YOUR STUFF COMPLETELY BOXED UP 3 DAYS IN ADVANCE! It will make your life (and the movers lives) so much easier! - Dan, the crew leader, did a wonderful job dealing with the landlord and his crazy demands. I was worried the landlord might cause problems but Dan took it all in stride like it was no big deal and diffused any situations and wacky concerns that the landlord brought up. As far as the actual moving went, the 4 man crew moved all of my mid-century modern furniture, boxes, and misc. stuff, and the only thing that made contact with the inside of the building and ground was the bottoms of the moving crews feet. The guys were super careful with the fragile spindle legs on all of my furniture. Not a single item they moved got damaged. I only had one negative issue while dealing with the company and that was the estimator didn't show up on the day/time we agreed on due to a scheduling error. Nobody contacted me to cancel or let me know what was going on. I took the morning off work to be there. It took me a couple hours to get in touch with them and see why they didn't show up. They finally called me back, apologized and rescheduled. I was pretty flustered and inconvenienced but it was an honest mistake and I am really glad I didn't let that keep me from hiring them. I only got one or two quick estimates from other companies but All Star Moving seemed pretty reasonable and on par with the industry. However, the excellent job they did was SO worth their seemingly competitive rates. I'm glad I didn't choose a company based solely on price. The quote they gave me was right on as far as time and final cost. Overall, I was very satisfied with All Star Moving. In fact, I was so impressed that I strongly suggested that my parents hire them when they move this winter/spring. read more

I never thought I'd use a moving company. I just always assumed I'd be too cheap to think it was worth it. Then I had kids. And everyone else I knew had kids. Offering "pizza and beer" to anyone willing to help no longer cut it like it did when we were in college. We were moving a very short distance from my old house to my new (a mile or so) and all we had left was the furniture. The price I was quoted was definitely the lowest of any moving company I'd researched and the customer service was great. I still felt like at the end of the day, it was a little sticker shock since the actual process of the moving took longer than I'd anticipated. Not really the company's fault, but it's the price you pay for convenience! I had 3 gentleman come to the house, wrap all the furniture and even disassemble and reassemble the crib, put everything in its proper place, and 7 hours later, that was that. It was a very easy experience and I'd absolutely recommend them again. I feel like everyone could have moved a liiiiiittttle faster, but that's subjective. Overall, stellar experience. read more

I hired this company to move from St. Louis (central west end) to the Chicago area (far western suburb). I paid for them to pack up all my stuff, then load it into the truck the next day, and drive it up the day after that. Why them over a bigger named company? I used a Uhaul pod to move up here from New Orleans and it was a disaster; it took two weeks and they had no idea where my stuff was on the way. The problem with big companies is that they use huge trucks that contain more than just your stuff. So you never really know when they will have the truck filled enough to take it to your destination. With All Star Movers, I knew exactly when it would be delivered. Professionalism: The president/CEO of the company came over to my place, looked at everything, and gave me the cost of the move the next day. No estimate. No rough quote. THE EXACT PRICE. I like that. No screwing around with the price and jacking up the cost at the last minute when you couldn't possibly find an alternative. The also called to confirm the appt to pack up my stuff, which was very nice; they seem organized which is a big plus to me. Tomorrow is the day for packing. I had a couple special requests (things loaded onto a pod container, a table moved to someone else's home that bought it off Craig's list ). All Star was glad to meet my request. Three guys arrived punctually and worked their tails off the entire time. Represented All Star VERY well. They were professional, courteous, and handled everything with care. They earned every penny. Everything was done before I even planned on the low side ! We've used national chain movers in the past but never again. All Star has earned a loyal customer. Worst moving company EVER!! Not only did they come without necessary moving equipment, they were unprofessional and failed to remove many of my items. They left part of my bed they took down, left shelves out of an armoire they moved, left chairs to a dining table, and broke several things. HORRIBLE business, filth mouth owner. I had to hire a lawyer to represent my interests. RUN away as fast as you can!!! read more

Excellent service from All-Star Moving. We moved my mom to a senior living center. Everything was perfect, no complaints. Derek and Jake did a great job! They were speedy and did not waste any time. The staff (hey Kathy) was super accommodating when I made a last minute reservation, and the movers were thorough, polite, and fast! We hired All Star to load our Pod with the heavy stuff we couldn't move ourselves. Eric, Aaron, and Greg arrived 10 minutes early and finished the job in just under 2 hours! They loaded the pod in such a way that they got much more inside it than we had planned! We ended up with having much less stuff that we had to transport to storage ourselves!! Hoping to request this same crew when it's time to schedule the return and unloading of the pod. Excellent service! read more

I'm very conflicted on how to write this review. Part of me wants to give them 1 star, part of me wants to give them 5. 5 Star - The four man crew did a fantastic job moving my house. They were polite and professional. Took care of my belongings and no furniture was damaged. All done in a timely manner with competitive rates. Prior to booking, they'll come out and assess what need to be moved so they can give you a more concrete quote. 1 Star - They called late Friday afternoon to confirm my Saturday move and said they'd arrive at 8AM with a phone call about 30 minutes prior to arriving. Saturday morning - they never called and they didn't show up at 8AM. They didn't show up at 9AM either. After I had called and left two messages asking where my crew was, I finally got a call back saying they'd arrive in 45 minutes. Well at 10 AM, I got yet another call from the company and they flat out cancelled on me. I didn't realize moving companies could just do that. They offered to come the next day for a discounted rate. Luckily, I had that option...but what if I didn't? I was counting on them and clearly they didn't deliver the day they said they would. The next day, they arrived exactly when they said they would. They also need to have a better system for answering phones (vs having to leaving a message on a machine), especially on the weekends when I'm sure a fair amount of people are moving. read more

I contacted All Star in regards to an upcoming move. They gave me my quote, then I called to confirm the quote. They wanted to check to make sure it was accurate and would call me back. They left me a voicemail saying the quote was accurate and to call them back to book. I called back and no one answered, so I left a voicemail saying I'd like to book it. No reply. I called again and left another message saying the same thing. They then returned my call the next day and said they were booked for that day already. Had they have answered/returned any of my calls they would have been able to book my move for that day before someone else's. I was very excited to hire them, but ultimately very disappointed with their lack of customer service. Would not recommend. read more
