Review revised in December 2022…read more I had a VERY disappointing experience at the Heights U-Haul location on 34th St. I love writing reviews for excellent service, and fortunately I don't have many negative reviews submitted like the following: Per U-Haul's "guaranteed reservation" policy, they will give you $50 if you reserve your equipment/vehicle online (and a few other requirements), but your reservation could not be fulfilled as requested. I was not notified, due to no fault of my own, the cargo van that I had reserved was not available and wouldn't be for an additional two day. Long story short...the general manager at the location was LESS than professional and refused to give me my $50 Not a problem, I called U-Haul's toll free number, and a representative named Shaun apologized, confirmed that I did qualify for the $50, and restored my overall opinion of U-Haul. Take note of Shawn's handling of this situation and apply his tactics, Andre Laday (Heights U-Haul General Manager). I still highly recommend U-Haul for your equipment/moving needs, but BUYER BEWARE and know your rights should you decide to use the Heights U-Haul location. Whew! I'm spent. -That's all.

It all…read morestarted with me having to go from Kingwood to Champion Forest to grab a trailer that I reserved back in December. For context I made the reservation on Uhaul.com and entered in my tow vehicle and the vehicle I am towing and the system let me book it. Fast forward to March I paid for the trailer and the sales rep was going to meet me in back to hitch up the trailer so I can get out. Then I had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting Ava. The specific trailer I rented was the Toy Hauler a newer trailer with enhanced capabilities vs their traditional auto transport trailer. I was towing with a 2025 Ram 1500 with a tow capacity of 8240lbs. Upon trying to leave Ava yelled at me to stop and began auditing every single facet of my truck. Stating she called the president and everything. She even VIDEO RECORDED me talking. This woman is 110% insane. She then tried to force me to purchase a new hitch rated for 10K lbs when that isn't even a requirement on the U-Haul website. It was clear that he was saving the trailer for someone else and was doing everything in her power to prevent me from taking off with it. I would rather be given a vasectomy by my half blind dog then deal with Ava again. She was rude, standoffish and constantly cut me off when attempting to speak. I eventually said eff it and drove off after calling Uhaul corporate and they confirmed that I was in good order. I will be contacting her boss Robert_Abdin@Uhaul.com to escalate this further. Seriously if you value your time, sanity and blood pressure avoid Ava at all costs. No lie I considered going to spend the money on buying my own trailer to never have to deal with her again. They will discourage you ("Don't have a coronary, it's just a standard agreement"). They want you to sign the damage report before you inspect the vehicle. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. Finally, inspect the gas and mileage. DO NOT TAKE THEIR WORD FOR IT. When I tried to rent a truck from them, they said it was half full. Nope - more like 3/8ths! If I brought it back like I found it, they would've nailed me for the "refill service fee" (not cheap) in addition to the overpriced $4+ dollars a gallon. I took a picture with my cell phone and they reluctantly "fixed" the rental agreement. I nearly drove off the lot without checking the mileage. It was over 500 miles off! Another picture.
