My experience today was not only shocking -- it was outright dangerous and discriminatory. I made a reservation through the official U-Haul app, fully prepaid and confirmed. When I arrived as a first-time U-Haul customer, Josh Lamb (the so-called "owner" at this location) canceled my reservation without cause. His reasoning? Someone, completely unrelated to me, with the same last name supposedly had an outstanding balance at a different U-Haul location across town. I was judged and denied service based solely on my last name -- something that is not only unethical but likely illegal. When I tried to calmly explain this mistake, Josh Lamb and his staff ganged up on me, became hostile, and began verbally attacking me. Josh looked visibly intoxicated -- he was slurring his words, acting erratic, and appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol (it seriously looked like he was tweaking on crystal meth). It gets even worse. As I attempted to leave the property, Josh Lamb and the employees began throwing racial slurs at me, loudly harassing me in the parking lot. It was one of the most humiliating and disgusting experiences of my life. I had an item lost that I believed to be left in the u-hual truck & The manager took the time to help me look for it and take his time to go through the cameras with me to look for my properties (item was not there/it was found elsewhere). For the most part it did what needed to be done . That is to storage my things , however That was all pointless because I had to throw away a lot of things .I rented 2 storages one temp control room and outside storage garage.Checking on my things last month couldn't help but to notice the small rat droppings everywhere on my things also urine inside my outdoor storage . Roaches were crawling out my things in the temperature control room . I changed units to the (van body ) without charge . So I'm grateful for that , but for most of my things to be destroyed by rat urine and poop was disappointing. Overall I recommend the van body storages . That's if you have no other option like me . I did ask if they use pest control . I was told they do also states in fine print they don't cover certain issue that happens to your property so just be aware . read more

I just want to echo other reviewers and warn that this location should be avoided. Staff are not friendly and definitely not knowledgeable. They could not further clarify any of my questions concerning stuff like the Damage Waiver for instance. Location said that they fill propane tanks. Better call before going. They must have a certified technician to fill tanks. Was told they leave early because it's usually the manager who is certified. That needs to be posted on the website. By the way, I drove 30 minutes after being told this was a self service location and that someone could help me pump the propane and didn't require someone "special." Epic fail! read more

Staff is laughable here. They almost look as if they are forced to be here as part of a probation requirement. No key drop off for after hours and the trucks are disgusting. Wish they had 0 stars to rate this location...called about 10 days in advance to order a hitch and get it installed, they don't answer the phones, customer service call center picks up the phone, schedules me for 10 days later which is no problem. The day comes, I call the location again while on my way, somebody answers and tells Me to hold immediately, leaves me on hold for 10 minutes then hangs up. I show up to the location, the kid on the front desk is the same Guy that answered the phone and put me on hold with 0 energy, doesn't even acknowledge my presence, when he's finally ready for me he just nudges his head back like if we're homies and acts like I'm inconveniencing him for showing up. When I tell him that I'm here for installation, he calls his manager, this lady acted like it was my fault for showing up and questioned if I had paperwork and if I was at the wrong location, because her schedule doesn't show anything ( which she made sure to turn her screen to show me the calendar that it's highlighted in orange which means it's in order, which means it is the right location). After I showed her the email, she Then proceeded to argue that even tho it says installation date, it really means that it's the order date, also that they would usually call when the part is there when, logic is that you call somebody who your company has scheduled for installation if the part is not there, Not the other way around...what a joke of a place, no wonder you have nothing but bad reviews... you need new management that actually cares, and employees that act like they actually like their jobs. I am a senior lady who was moving to So MD from Houston, towing a Harley Trike motorcycle. I stopped in Valdosta GA to visit friends. When I was leaving in the morning I heard ...thump, thump thump. The tire had lost about a foot of tread and the wires where showing. I called customer service and they had me call the guy (Asian name) and he states it was my fault that I ran over something,. BS. My friend said it looked more like dry rot. The stress it caused me affects my thyroid. He stated he sent me pictures of the trailer on my email. I researched and NO PICTURES. I spoke to another friend and she said the same thing happened to her on a move but luckily her boyfriend was driving. Uhaul it's self profits off of the average person in lieu of high end customers therefor this is reflected in the personnel and management at nearly every location. I am an ex uhaul employee from back in college so I understand the inner workings and even then It's never been a system that is built to help the customer and moving process. Always long waiting periods whether going in for propane refill, rent a truck or trailer or unit regardless of their quick check in feature they use now with mobile devices it's still a broken system. I consider uhaul to be the last resort when looking into moving. People moving deal with timelines, schedules and the frustrations of moving. You'd think uhaul would evolve their processes and want more business and repeat customers and happy customers. Instead they only add to the frustrations and painful. No thanks uhaul! read more

Our charges were incorrect, putting us out almost $105. We returned it the same day, after four hours of use per our reservation. The paperwork reflected that we returned it the next morning, almost 24 hours later. When we contacted them on the 8th, we were told a refund was being sent our way. Instead, on the 10th, ANOTHER charge was pulled from our account, still with no pending refund charge reflecting in our account per their confirmation. When contacting the location AGAIN, we were told that this second charge is the "actual" charge. So now, UHAUL has about $150 from us and we're -$30 in our account, causing our bank to charge us an overdraft fee of ANOTHER $40. SO THANK YOU FOR SCREWING US OVER AND COSTING US AN EXTRA $40 ontop putting us out $105 to begin with. read more

One star is being incredibly generous. Business with them has been the absolute worst experience! Advise you to choose another location to do business with. Here is a rundown of our experience: 1. never called to advise of a location nor time change, which had us going 45mins out of the way. 2. arrived @ 845am for a 9am rental which I used the express check in only to wait for over an hour to get my truck, finally got out of there @ 1015am of which I had movers waiting @ $200/hr. 3. Upon return, I filled up the truck to exactly 1/2 a tank, as requested. Turned in the keys, only to receive a text the next day stating my "contract shows to be overdue" of which I not only called & spoke to a customer service rep but also filled out the online customer service request. I was told I would receive a call to verify in fact that the "equipment have already been dropped off". Yet, I didn't even get that, I got this email wanting to bill me for more money. What a joke! Who knows what was done with that vehicle from the time I dropped it off @ 1145am Sunday vs the time y'all finally got around to documenting it was in fact received. read more

As of 09/24/2016, my mother leased storage space at this location. She was scheduled to move into her retirement community almost one year later on 09/30/2017, but at the very last minute, the retirement facility mentioned that her apartment would not be ready until 10/07/2017. Therefore, she had to leave her personal effects at the storage unit for one more week. Not a problem. The problem I have is that U-Haul will now charge my mother for the entire month of October, when I feel she should only be charged for 7 days. I don't think there is a specific clause in her contract stating that she should have to pay an entire month's "rent" when her personal items will/would be cleared in one (1) day. When she politely spoke with a representative to address her situation, they could care less. She's not asking or demanding a full credit/refund be applied, but I think that it's only fair that my mother should only pay for the days her personal belonging are in their storage facility. I'm sure the manager (Mr. Jaime) and President (Mr. Mendiete) of U-Haul Storage would agree. To be quite frank, I feel my 80-year old mother was scammed. Once it's all said and done, I wouldn't be surprised if I see conflated and undisclosed fees added to her credit card that she may/may not be aware of. In the meantime, she has mentioned to other family members and friends that they should not use this facility and would highly recommend no else do the same. And since the reviews seem to be less than stellar (obviously a recurring theme), you may want to steer clear. read more

I had bought a new trailer that had electric brakes so I needed a brake controller installed in my truck. So I though U-Haul would be the place to go to purchase one and have it installed believing that they are towing professional. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I made a appointment to have it installed 2 weeks before I picked up my new trailer and it was installed by Joseph the store manager. When i picked up my trailer it did not work, so I tried to adjust it according to the owners manual and still nothing. So I called the store and talked to woman about my problems and she said she would have Joseph call me back because he was the only person at this location that could install brake controllers. I never received a call back so the next day I stopped by to talk to him and was told he was out sick but would be back tomorrow if I wanted to make a appointment which I did, next day took my truck in and he was out sick so made a appointment for the next day same thing. When I asked why didn't I get a call informing me of this they couldn't tell me, all they could tell me is I needed to come in earlier tomorrow. So I took off work early to have it checked only to be told by Joseph that there was nothing wrong with the brake controller he installed, I question him about how it was acting and that I could not adjust it according to the owner manual. He told me the controllers was fine the problem must be in the trailer. I called the trailer dealer and they assured me the trailer was fully tested before I picked it up. So I called the brake controllers manufacturers tech support and they told me what to check for. When i started testing nothing checked out, upon more research on my part I finally realized he installed the wrong year model wiring harness on the controller, because he didn't have the correct year model. There is a reason these wiring harness have a year model clearing identified on them. When I called him and informed him of this I was told he would have to call me back, after 5 hours and no call back I called only to be told he was busy when I asked for a phone number for a district mangers I was promised he would call me back which finally he did and agreed to refund my money. These people are far from professional and there customers services leaves a lot to be desired. I will never do business with U- Haul again. These people are totally UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

We reserved a cargo van plus an appliance dolly to move a large number of heavy boxes of books. When we arrived, the cargo van was available, but they had no dollys of any kind. Without the dolly, we couldn't do a thing.....We were under time constraints, so we took the van and tried to locate an appliance dolly in the area, but couldn't. Brought the van back, having used nothing but our time. They still charged us for 50% of what the cost would have been for 4 hours of use (including the 11 miles we drove trying to find the dolly). All the while the store personnel, especially the manager, Jaime, were rude and unconcerned about what their slip-up had done to our moving project. The rudeness extended to another customer who was in the store at the time, who had been given misleading information about her reservation. She was arguing - firmly but not threateningly - and the store manager ordered her to leave the store, or he would call the police. A huge overreaction to her frustrations. Incompetent reservations process plus overreactions plus rudeness = avoid this U-Haul location. read more
