Clean quiet location. When I came they where doing an inventory change so some of the shelfs where bare. A nice young man in the produce section brought us a watermelon from the back. definitely will be coming back i highly recommend. read more

The service for online pick up is terrible. I waited 40 mins for groceries and had to call twice because nobody picked up for almost 5 mins. There was nobody waiting for the last 20 mins. I don't want to blame the staff because I don't know what the problem actually was but this a big problem. This is the second time this has happened to me. I won't be back there again for pick up. My guess is they can't get enough people to work there. Take a hint and pay the workers a decent salary to get quality workers. read more

clean, fresh produce and gardening ,full stock, nice employees. baskets and parking lot clean.

This location has a 2-star Yelp average -- say what? C'mon folks, this place is OK! We came in three or four times during a relatively short visit to Seymour and found all the items that we needed at prices that I considered to be normal. The non-self-service checkout lines were a bit long, but we were able to check out easily with the self-service option. I was positively impressed by the deli counter, where customers came in with long lists of sliced cheese and meats that they wanted to buy in small quantities. The personnel behind the counter filled all requests without blinking or complaining. I tried a grab 'n' go Italian sandwich from the case adjacent to the deli counter. It was excellent! I went to the restroom and found it to be clean and functional. Conclusion: nothing to complain about. I was a satisfied customer. read more

I have never gone to this particular Store and in going today I will most definitely be back. I was met at customer service and had the pleasure of meeting Nancy, who went over and above, helping me with a new app on my phone. She was expedient, friendly, and very helpful. I then met Dave in produce. Again, another employee who acted over and above my expectations. Finally, Sonia at checkout went out of her way to assist the person in front of me, apologized for the delay, and asked another employee to find a shopping cart. Food shopping is usually tedious, but your employees made it very pleasant. Anne corsano read more

Beware there debit machine. Credit card machine did not honor my card. Manage to charge it twice for the same order.Which I never received. This hsppened on or a out July 21st.A week later, the bank has canceled my debit card to issue a new one because of fraud and I still have not got my money back.Thank you S&S! Whats your excuse? A very drab, outdated store. Dirt abounds starting with the entranceway boasting an overfilled trash can with the overflow on the ground. The lighting is poor and the ceiling tiles are all smudged and stained. Capping this all off are staff that mostly seem like they'd rather be elsewhere. The check out lady did not greet customers and acted like she was doing them a favor. Pictures are worth a 1000 words so here goes.... read more

I have gotten rotten meat from them twice over the last couple years. Always spoke to the manager and they said they would look into it and do something immediately...well the obviously haven't, yesterday I brought home a piece of cod that as soon as I opened the bag knew was bad. Whole house smelled like ammonia and rotten fish, there was no way the person who bagged it didn't smell it. I'm sorry but if they don't change their practices they will end up killing someone with god knows what pathogen. Edit: in response to below message, you can look into it without me filling out a form. I've gone through this already twice before this incident and nothing happened. I'm not doing it again... There is a difference between food that has "gone past it's prime" and what I received which was putrid and smelled like ammonia. I know I won't get resolution from your stop and shop and I am only posting this to warn people how little is cared by your organization for safety. read more

This location isn't following any safety protocols in regards to Covid. The amount of people in the store and lack of masks is alarming. Management should be facilitating a safe shopping experience. read more

I live in Seymour and this is normally my main grocery store. This store has become very lax in enforcing the COVID restrictions. The other day there was a mother with three girls ranging from around 9 to 13 years old and none of them were wearing masks. I did not feel safe and left the store. All of the other grocery stores in the area (Market 32, Big Y) are taking the appropriate precautions. I will be taking my business elsewhere read more

This is one of the worst Stop&Shops I've been to. Even before the virus causing lack of supplies, this store never has sale items marked on the first morning of the sale. When you stop at the fish area, you have to wait a long period of time before anyone is available to help you and then the answer is, oh that's coming with today's delivery. The bottle drop area is disgustingly filthy. read more

This is the best Stop & Shop. I have shopped in S&S's in Hamden, North Haven and Amity, and I will drive out of my way to go here. The store is clean, the people are helpful, the bakery is always stocked and the deli carries items other stores don't. read more

The store is constantly out of quality product. Today I went for a quick trip and ended up with twenty items. I didn't meet the criteria to make the quick lanes so I stood in line. For over 40minutes. They had three or four lanes open and every single one was at least four or five people deep. This is ridiculous. Probably the worst stop and shop I have ever been to. It's constantly like this. There have been times I came to buy one item and left because they either didn't have it (out of stock and it was celery on several occasions) or the lines were so long I had to leave. Unacceptable as the only grocery store within 10 miles read more

Always very clean, prices are reasonable (though a bit high sometimes) but the sales are often good. Some of the employees are really nice, though there is one female cashier who is unfriendly enough that I'd rather stand in a longer line to have someone else help me. For the most part though the staff has always been helpful. The only thing I could really complain about is that the bathrooms (at least the women's), smells terrible. It's not human smells, it's some cleaner or some chemical maybe, but it's just bad. I know there isn't a single window to vent anything but something should be done, I think. read more

It's pretty good. Very clean and organized. Price is of course competitive. Most often I find their price to be better then Big Y.

This store continues to have expired dairy in the case. I have had to throw out countless items! The health department needs to check their dairy items especially the yogurt area. Yogurt was expired by a month and cheese 2 months!! read more

This has been my main grocery store for many years. However they are currently making everyone go in and out the same entrance causing massive congestion. None of the COVID measures are being enforced. I won't be back anytime soon. read more

Better than average Stop & Shop branch. They offer samples and decent merchandise on markdown very frequently. I find the best deals here, and new sales daily. read more

Seriously?!?!? I thought with some competition moving in near by this place might get a little better but WOW! I walked in today and it smelled like stale cigarettes so bad I started gagging. After I got over that and the ridiculous prices I finally get to the check out. The cashier was complaining the ENTIRE TIME how she hates having someone bag for her... as she is putting my RAW STEAK ON TOP OF MY FRUIT! Hello... it doesn't take a genius to know that is a bad idea. When I took the raw steak off from on top of the fruit (without saying anything) she gave me an attitude. I wish this place would leave and another Market 32 would take over the location! read more

The store has a smell to it that is unbearable. Cleanliness is subpar. Checkout is the slowest I have even seen. Seafood section smells so bad it's hard to walk by. Extremely poor management is certainly the cause of this. We no longer shop here. read more

Pretty solid supermarket. Produce is usually pretty fresh, and the staff are generally friendly. Store is generally very clean, and the prices are reasonable. Especially considering there isn't another grocery store in town. read more

Each time I visit this location it is more and more apparent that the staff, including management, is trained to be completely unaware of their surroundings or their responsibilities to the customers. I have had managers step out in front of me as I walk through the store or attempted to exit. This morning the gathering at the service podium (employeess and this is a very common thing) between the bread and soda aisles spread across the bread aisle completely blocking shoppers' paths in or out of the aisle. I spoke up and said "Excuse me! Am I in your way!". Yes, it garnered a few dirty looks but that was my intention. I have witnessed employees pulling full pallet jacks in front of shoppers and just leaving them right in front of the merchandise the person was attempting to add to their cart. Staff holding personal conversations in front of shelves they are stocking slowing the stocking process and blocking shoppers access to products. As far as food quality...The fish counter always smells like low tide. Fresh fish should not smell. On one occasion I smelled rotting meat coming in the front door. The meat counter is at the back of the store. I once handed an employee an open package of bacon that was GRAY! and he looked at me like "What's wrong with it?". Finally, the failure of the freezers both in the store and in the storage area is apparent on many occasions indicated by the thick layer(s) of frost on the ice cream and other (previously) frozen foods. If it wasn't a 10 minute drive to Big Y, I would do all my shopping even short trips for a few items there. read more

I will give them credit on their produce department and on their meat department. Their prices are way too high on most of the items they sell. They give gas points instead of money off your groceries. It is just a way for them to get you to buy their gas so you can use your points. I would prefer to get money off my groceries. The store is clean and the staff is very friendly and the administration is eager to please. I would give more stars if the prices were better and there were better deals to be had. read more

This store has been going down hill over the past couple years. There was a time when it was the only conveniently close store in the area, but that is no longer the case. I would have hoped with the competition moving closer, they might step up their game but that doesn't seem to be the case. My main issue here on my last few trips has been the staff. With the exception of the deli and a few others, the staff doesn't seem to be held to high customer service standards at all. The checkout process has been the worst part. My cashier today was rude...clearly didn't want to be there, didn't say hello or even ask for my card, groaned and rolled her eyes at my coupons, then argued with me about a coupon talking to me as if I was a child. Meanwhile, the young lady bagging seemed lost taking her time while a line formed behind me. This type of thing has become the norm there...it's only more obvious after you've shopped down the road at market 32 where everyone is pleasant and helpful every time I go. After today's experience it's definitely going to be a while before I go back, and then it will only be for small trips...I've had enough. read more

The cashier in the morning is ruded. The bathrooms smell terrible. not clean at all. One person working in the morning but she takes her sweet time coming to the register but they need extra help in the store like having someone else do the register. Hire more people. She can't do it all. The self check outs stink. I put things on the belt and it says to remove them and they are off the belt and the machine said that help is on the way. Too much of a bother. I left everything at the self checkout and say no way. This store has gone downhill. No baggers. Too many self checkouts. The produce is terrible. read more

People are friendly. The only issue I personally experience weekly is that when I order my cold cuts on the kiosk and ask to have my cold cuts sliced thin or very thin. It rarely is. I've thrown a lot away because they were just too thick. read more

I am not too pleased with the way they revamped their look to reflect the bigger warehouse stores....it also seems like their prices are very high since then and also due to them being union...not enough every day items on sale....I don't like the pre-pakaged meats and a lot of the items seem to be processed and not fresh.(like the ground beef) The deli people always reach for the "old butt end" of the meat when ordering anything less than 1/2 pound...I have often gotten bad meat more than once here and have to specify no end cuts...if I get anything that smells bad I will just leave it in the store......and boy are they slow, there will be 5 people behind the counter and only one is waiting on customers....very bad management in this area. They used to be the best grocery store around -but now I only stop here for a single item or two ....Best place for groceries is ShopRite in Derby...its like old world style market with great prices. Sorry stop n shop you lost my business. read more
