I don't quite understand all the hate and negative reviews on Yelp for this location. While it is smaller than many other Stop & Shop locations, it is typically well stocked. I've gotten great service at the fish counter, and I save time shopping by using their self scanner and self checkout. I find Stop & Shop to be more expensive than Market Basket or Shaw's for many comparable items, but their weekly sales are decent and often drive my shopping decisions. It's easy to take an old store like this for granted, with newer Whole Foods, Wegman's, or Trader Joe's nearby, but I'd be very sad if this store ever closed. read more

Wow, a few times I went to the butcher shop area. I was looking for stew, meat thief, and a butcher behind the counter was a bit of a bastard very rude. He won't be behind the counter and got the stew meat and didn't offer to help me whatsoever he was very rude and annoying. Sorry I will not deal with this kind of behavior. I'll walk away quickly and I won't return especially to the to the butcher, sorry you're indescribably rude and your prices are way too high and more often enough. I do not have your discount card to get need to sell and nobody seems to wanna help me do so I find that terribly on business like and very annoying thank you read more

Shame on the management of Stop and Shop, you have to be one of the worst grocery stores around. I have shopped at many different stores including Aldi, Market Basket, Wegmans, Shaws, Price Chopper, Trader Joes and Big Y and all surpass Stop N Shop in either variety, customer service and price, or a combination of all three. If it weren't the closest store to my home I'd never shop here . I've often wished that a Market Basket, Hannafords or Shaw's move to the Temple St location but my prayers are never answered . The "Customer Service "desk is never staffed and the light is always off. Secondly there are only ever one or two checkouts with a cashier open even during peak times and they expect everyone to use the self-check out option which isn't quick when you have a lot of items and the AI robot has a scale so sensitive it can't detect when you put an item in the bag or on the scale and you're forced to seek a staff person to trouble shoot anyway. Another thing is the lack of variety and the steep prices. Look I get that your more a union shop and I'm all for organized labor as a former steward, but I shouldn't be paying top dollar when your staff are no where to be seen and I'm having to scan and pack my own food. You also have a nerve asking me if I want to round up my order to give to charity ? How can I trust that you'll actually do this. Framingham charges 10 cents for paper bags now which is fair enough to save trees, but in the event that I forget to bring my own bags, your paper bags are awful and can't hold a few cans without falling apart. And why can't you put a handle on the paper bags so they're easier to carry? You should buy a clue from Trader Joe's who have reinforced paper bags that come with handles. I gave you a pass during Covid and I didn't cross the picket line when you went on strike a few years ago, but the economy is good, the worst of Covid is over and the economy is in good shape, so there are no excuses why you can't hire enough staff if nothing else but to handle the registers . read more

I was in the area last night when I saw this location and decided to go in and get some stuff to stock up for the winter storm that we are having now. The store is in a little strip mall. The aisles are very well organized and stocked. The store is big and you can find just about anything you want. They have a good deli and bakery here. I saw some really delicious looking cupcakes. The staff is helpful and will point you in the right direction whenever you're looking for something. They have a good self-checkout area and that is where I paid for my stuff. I would come back here again for sure. read more

Customer service is LOW on their list of priorities. You need a club card, there's a robot getting in your way, there are monitors everywhere showing a picture of YOU the thief, there's only one human check-out line, they change for paper bags which rip real easy, there are product displays taking up floor space down every aisle, and no stock boys in sight. If ONLY there was a supermarket like the good old days, stock boys everywhere, every checkout is a human WITH a bag boy, no club cards, no robots, and paper bags are no charge! If you go here at night, it's easy to see no employees the entire time you are there. Especially since they'll only have one register open at any given time. The self checkout is fine, though, so whatever. The reason I'm giving only two stars is due to the price on non-food items (health and beauty/household supplies/pets) and the produce. The produce selection is pretty standard, but the quality varies GREATLY from week to week. One week you can get an okay tomato, other times it smells like death when you get close to the display and looks even worse. I still pop in due to sheer convenience, but if I'm not in a rush I will absolutely drive down the road to Wegmans, Whole Foods, or Trader Joes depending on the products I'm looking to pick up. read more

Stop and Shop (SNS) has helpful auto scanners so bring your plastic bags or other reusable bags and check out a scanner. Scan your SNS card or enter your card number and take a scanner and away you go. Scan your items (bar code) and put them in your bag. The scanner can get annoying when it "blings" and a sale item flashes up but overall I feel like it saves time at the checkout line. All my stuff is scanned and in the bags ready to go out to the car without having to hear the ongoing conversations that take place between the checker and the bagger. Helloo I am standing here "see me". Anyway, #1 Scan the checkout lanes bar code #2 Scan your SNS card at the checkout line #3) Get $0.05 for each reusable bag #4) Select your payment method and out prints your receipt The checkout machines using the scanner work really fast at the SNS location near Lowe's and Target. This one works but just processes a bit slower. The scanner is also a tool for teaching and distracting my kids from the actual chore of grocery shopping. Have your little ones help! No better way to teach them about how money gets sucked up! While this one may be a bit newer, the Old Connecticut Path location is the best grocery store for Framingham residents. This location BITES! While Keisha and Ron (the store managers) are both friendly, fair, helpful, and kind, they really have some work to do in order to make the Temple Street store even comparable to other, better Stop&Shop locations (such as Natick, and the one on Old Connecticut Path). While Stop&Shop is my favorite grocery store, and I like to shop at their stores more than other retailers, this one just had too many issues to get a three or four star rating. First, let's start with the store itself. It is an extremely convenient stop for those on this side of Framingham, and parts of Ashland and Southborough, and the closest grocery store (and the only one in the direct area), so it works for basic snack items (Cheez-it's, candy, nuts, cream cheese, bread, etc, etc), but other than that make a trip to another store. This specific location isn't dirty, but could use a spruce up with some brighter lighting, and some upgraded signs throughout. They just replaced the lighting in all of the aisles at the store on Old Connecticut Path and it looks great (so much easier to see products... especially those that are tucked WAY in the back). It's also much smaller than others, and doesn't provide nearly the same selection as other S&S locations. Layout isn't too off, but I've never seen Health & Beauty in the direct center of the store before. Second, broken stuff. Now, throughout the years and years I've gone to Stop&Shop, they have exceeded every other New England chain grocery store in terms of technology. The scales in the produce area, the SCAN-IT guns, and the extensive amount of WORKING self checkout (the Self Checkout machines at Shaw's just DON'T work!). Here, one of the produce scanners wasn't working at all. Just broken. Never have seen that before. And when I came back to this store a second time, it was still broken. These types of things are mandated by the state to be fixed within 72 hours. My visits to this store were over a week apart. Yikes. In addition, one price scanner at the front of the self-checkout side of the store wasn't working either. Third, and most damming of them all, EXPIRED FOOD! The first time I walked into this store was on August 27, 2016. I was in the nut section, just browsing, and found a whole stack of some weirdly named nut that expired in MAY! Are you kidding me! I brought these directly to the service desk and continued looking around. There wasn't anything else, but a whole bunch of other nuts expired on August 27. Definitely disappointing, and the main reason for the 2 star rating. Also, Irina at self checkout is very moody and rude. Definitely not one of the best employees at this store.... Bottom line: check your expiration dates and only buy things from this store that are un-questionable. For all other items, Stop&Shop on Old Connecticut Path is only a few minutes away, and they really know what there doing. This location needs some work done, hopefully they will fix them so it isn't a joke. 2 stars. read more

High prices, bad service, dirty bathrooms. The place sucks. Today I went in there, having already tried to find the fragrance-free version of Arm & Hammer Cat Litter, and not only was the shelf empty, but when I went to the bathroom, it was disgusting. Next, like a fool, I headed to the deli counter, where I asked for a sandwich. The kid took my order, and when I came back five minutes later, he said, "was that a half or a whole?" It was a large, and my time was now growing short. When I said I'd like pepper on that, he said "we don't have salt or pepper, sorry." I went and got him some from the shelf. He said "oh no, that would mess up our stock keeping. But I can get you a store manager." So she came over, and said, "maybe I can borrow some from Dunkin' Donuts." Can you imagine? Way overpriced yet promote themselves as competitive. Because you have to just drive farther to other towns to get away from them they get a decent share of business but overall they stink and are way too expensive. 6.99/lb for american cheese? 4.29 or higher for a gallon of milk? Yeah, uh...no. Meats are expensive and quality is so so. Shop wisely with coupons and sale items and don't let them steal your money. Ok I am on a roll today complaining about slow systems. Since Stop & Shop introduced the hand scanner and I am able to walk around scanning the items for my self I have loved it. I love electronics and being able to see what I really am spending as I walk around the store works for me. Skye G has a great review below on the scanners so I am not going into the detail around the scanning process. This Stop & Shop is where I started using the scanners so I never new any better. Once you go to the checkout and the scanner starts downloading the information you can almost type it in as fast as the computer reads in the information. I could not believe how slow it was, but as I stated I did not know any better. I then went to a different Stop & Shop and used the hand scanner there. When I went to check out my full 100 items were in the system before I knew it. I was done checking out in 10 seconds. It was great. Now that I know the systems can be that good, I am wondering when this Stop & Shop will upgrade their scanners and be like the others. I still use the hand scanners because I still like them for the other reasons but I am waiting for the day that this store upgrades. read more

Only reason I shop there is because it's my closest grocery store. I try not to do big shops there. Groceries are way too expensive considering the lack of variety, unlike Price Chopper and Shaws. Their " International Foods" section is a joke- just consists of Goya, some Tex-Mex foods like Ol El Paso, and a few packets of high sodium noodles. Apparently European foods don't exist. They are a Union shop which probably explains the high prices. Staff aren't particularly friendly and the robot cleaner just gets in the way... read more

While my husband and I were in the store this morning with my emotional support dog, I was asked by three staff members / Managers to leave or take the dog out. It amazes me that on this day and age my husband and I would be insulted this way. Stop & Shop should educate their staff with classes that will teach the difference between having a pet, or a service or emotional support animal and the consequences of mistreatment or discrimination I have been in this specific store many times but today I was mistreated by its employees and I am hugely disappointed. I live in the neighborhood and will not return Stop & Shop, neither will none of my relatives. Animals are part of our society and our families. In addition, there is no sign on the store doors about animals not being allowed inside. S&S should consider posting a sign, but educate themselves before doing it because there are laws that protect us, animal lovers, and our most loyal companions. read more

Checking out with there automated system is a disaster. The machine stopped working after I scanned a couple items and hung. It took forever to get help. Apparently the machine wanted me to bring back all my scanned items and start over. The the stupid thing wasn't smart enough to realize I had put a credit card in it. I had to wait for help again. I like that this stop & shop is never that crowded, no matter what time of day. They have a good selection, too. I always shop at stop & shop because of the low prices. I'm only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because sometimes the produce that I buy here is not as fresh as it is at other stop & shop locations. I recently bought a bag of baby carrots and it wasn't until I got home that I saw that they were so old they were all squishy on the ends and falling apart! The store is usually run by some young girls and boys. The girls look like they are in their teens and they sound very rude at times. They do not want to help if you have any issues and they try to pretend to be busy. Pathetic customer service! Had three bad experiences at this store. My friends & family members had their share of experiences as well. My wife delivered a baby and I went to purchase fresh flowers, but instead found all wilted and expensive flowers. Lady at the flower station did not seem pleasant to talk to and did not care to help or make a sell. Guy at Dunkin Donuts didn't know the right way to toast the "croissants". Ended up being either burnt or slightly under toasted. The guy had his series of arguments convincing that the toast was done perfectly. Having had the toasted croissants numerous times at various Dunkin stores across different states, I can definitely say he was wrong. After rejecting the burnt version, I ended up taking the under toasted croissant and obviously never brought anything again. On a Sunday evening, entered the store at 8:45 pm and brought few items, checked out, walked out of first outdoor, realized that I missed buying one item, turned back to realize the "In" Door' was closed (since it was 9 pm). Without getting out of second "Out" Door and turned back in from open "Out" door. One of the guys rushed to me and told me I can't shop anymore since its 9 pm. Given that I already had shopped in the store and had S&S bags as proof, told him that I just need to pick one item and will leave. There were still few customers at the check out. The guy (looked like a manager) was adamant. Not only that, while being polite and talking to this guy, one young lady from check out runs towards me, without understanding the situation, loudly asking me, in front of other customers to not being allowed to shop anymore. So much for customer service. I was being patient and polite and here are two S&S employees being rude and asking me to basically get out of the store. Even if I try to understand that they need to enforce their 9 pm closing rule that strictly, the employees at this S&S need to be definitely trained on how to speak with their customers in dealing with such situations. Given that S&S pledge is "We pledge to make a difference in our customers lives every day with great food, low prices and friendly helpful service", I hope that management does train the employees at this store, so that they understand the "friendly helpful service" part of the pledge. They need to learn from Trader Joe's, Whole Foods around, who've exceptional service and will do their bit to win their customers. read more

I went in to buy a lot of things, including produce. There were 4 cashiers open, all 12 items or less. They all had baggers. I had to go to the do-it-yourself scanner, which never works well when I use it. Had to wait twice for someone to come fix problems. Had to look up/enter produce #s for all the produce, then had to bag the whole thing myself. I think the people who are spending more should get cashiers & baggers, not the 12 items or less crowd. Asked to speak to the manager because I think the reason for the self-scanners is that the store is too cheap to hire cashiers; they would rather waste our time with the stupid scanners.. Got sick of waiting for Keisha to show up, so I left. I will NEVER be back. Don't carry a lot of items that they used to because of profit margin, went to Sargento cheese and got rid of Kraft, no longer carry Pearl in the deli, not to mention the overall rudeness of the employees. Steve in the Deli department is just flat rude. If he were to be seen outside that market, he'd have a fat lip, I'd smack him in the mouth, just rude. There's what, five Stop and Shops in the area? This one is by and far the least maintained one of the bunch. The service is ridiculously slow, and the number of times I've tried to get something from the fish counter, and been told I can't select exactly what pieces of fish I want, is higher than I'd like. Listen dude, I don't want the piece of fish that looks like it barely survived the war; I want the piece which looks fresh and tasty, and not going to land me in the hospital. I'm very shallow like that. There's usually decent pieces of fish to be had however, and I find it to be fresher as a whole than some of the other S&S's in the area. But really, let me pick my pieces. I don't order from the meat or deli counters, so I can't speak to that as the other reviewers have. The dry goods are all fine, and the produce is in good condition. One thing I do like about this one, is that the discount section tends to be well-stocked, with items I actually want. As a whole, the dairy/freezer/dry/canned goods sections stay fairly well stocked. Produce occasionally is sold out of certain items. The place which always bothers me though is the register. I don't do the scan-it, but I do the self-checkout. Why would I do that? Because their baggers can't bag. I like all my cold items together, all my produce together, etc. Ice cream does not belong in a bag with cereal. Eggs should not be in a bag with canned peas. But, back to the complaint: their scanners are terrible. A solid 25% of the time I have to type in the 20-digit code because their system can't handle it. Also, there's a weight imbalance between the weigh tray and the don't-steal-out-stuff weigher on the conveyor belt. My bananas weigh a certain amount, I put them on the conveyor, and it shuttles it back to me with a "ha, ha, I'm going to flash a light and you can't get these bananas" laugh. Most of the staff at the checkout is either a teenager or mentally challenged. The only manager I've found to be competent is the one with the blonde-dyed spikes. Most of the others just don't understand that yes, I want bananas and no, I don't want to deal with people. All in all, if you don't need to interact with the staff, and you don't mind typing in PLU numbers by hand, it's ok. Just sometimes pretty frustrating. read more

I can't say enough about Jeff at the deli counter at Stop & Shop in Framingham on Temple Street! He wowed me with his amazing customer service. The supermarket is open until 11 PM. I showed up after 9 PM, Jeff informed me that the deli was closed. He went out of his way to fulfill my order. My father traveled halfway around the world at 84 years old to come home to visit his daughters. It was so important to me to get the right food for my dad to have. Jeff and his associate took it upon themselves to help me out, even though they had already cleaned all their equipment and close down the deli. I work in this industry and I know how much it takes for someone to go out of their way to help someone else out, they helped me out, and I so appreciate everything they did for me. I Just want to call out great customer service because it's so rare that you get it! I definitely received this tonight, I am very grateful! An absolutely terrible supermarket. I should say the supermarket is ok, but the service is atrocious. The fish counter is bad (super slow), but is a shining star when compared to the deli counter. How a person can move so slowly, yet stay awake, is beyond me. I think I saw a glacier racing past one of the deli counter workers. Add to that, they now have an Eminem wanna-be wearing his pants BELOW his butt. This is exactly who I want slicing my cheese. He also gives the impression that he would rather be receiving a anesthetic free root canal than helping customers.
