A brand new, shiny, kind, spic-n-span grocery…read more I am especially missing the Sudbury location (I just moved back to the SF Bay Area and am comparing my local WF to the Sudbury one.) I love WF as a brand so much, that I chose my last two houses based on their proximity to WF. Here's how this location shines. First, they give GREAT snacks to kids in their snack bin. I have never, in all WF loving searches, encountered such great selection: healthy and varied bars, granola, crackers, fruit, phenomenal! My kids love the experience so much, that they would beg to go every day after school. The aisles are wide. The carts are always tended to. Ice in the ice chest for your ride home. Shelves stocked. Wipes handy. On only one occasion my food was bagged haphazardly and I came home to find my hot bar items at the bottom, spilled out, with heavy stuff placed on top. The clerk was bagging while chatting with the cashier, and didn't look at me or my items while bagging them. The fact that I shopped there at least 5 times a week and this only happened once in two years, speaks well of their hiring and training. On a handful of occasions, when I brought home lettuce that was bad, weeks before it's expiration, the produce attendants helped me find alternatives. I stopped buying the boxed lettuce. A supplier packaging issue caused it to spoil early. WF did their best to make it right though. If you ever have a problem with any item, they will most certainly help you at customer service. My husband was offered a position in GA. One day I heard a clerk (was it Brian? Forgive me if I've gotten your name wrong) talking about Atlanta. I asked him a few questions about it. He was so kind. He offered to take his break the following day to walk me through areas around Atlanta. And he went out of his way to always give my kids and I a positive experience. I miss your location so much. You put together a wonderful team in a beautiful space.

I wanted it to be perfect, and it was. Linda was incredibly helpful by phone in describing each item, figuring quantities, and some special dietary issues that required slight changes from their menu, all for the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. She was even able to add rolls to my order that aren't on the online menu. We brought an empty cart to the Catering desk at the end of the produce area, and it was returned to us about 10 mins later, each platter nicely arranged and sturdily boxed. Highly recommend the sushi, grilled veg pitas, and caprese salad!

A little confused, I watched as they appeared to be cleaning up to go home....replacing the trash liners and such. This big guy (I'm being kind) rudely barked at me from 40 feet away "What do you need?!" I said "Are you closing?" He audibly sighed and barked again "What do you need?!!!!" I then looked at the other guy who was shaking his head in apparent disgust at me. Infuriated, I barked back at him and told him to never mind, found my wife, and left the store. We drove 15 minutes up the road to Donalans. I went up to the deli counter and the young woman greeted me with a big smile and a "Hi! What can I get you?" She followed that with a warm "Absolutely!" What a sharp contrast. We usually don't go to Roche brothers anyway because we live closer to Donalans but we happen to be at TJ Maxx next store. Never setting foot in there again. Checking reviews it seems others have also had issues with this big guy at the deli. What a joke.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., I was outside waiting for my friend while she finished making her purchases. As she walked out of the store, she tripped over a bike rack positioned along the walkway. She fell hard, injuring and bloodying her knee and scraping her hands. She was visibly shaken, and the pie she had just purchased was destroyed in the fall. I went inside to tell an employee what had happened and to ask whether the pie could be replaced. While I was speaking with the employee, my friend came inside, limping. My friend asked whether the employee had heard what had happened. Rather than expressing concern or asking whether she was okay, the employee's reaction struck both of us as surprisingly dismissive. My friend then asked whether she could have some ice for her injured knee. The employee said no and walked away. Because I was surprised by that response, I asked another employee who was stocking muffins whether he could get some ice for my friend because, I explained, she had just fallen and injured herself. He also indicated that he could not. The first employee later returned and explained that there were no more pies available, and my friend was refunded for the pie. What happened next was the strangest part of the experience. As we were leaving, the employee came after us and quietly told my friend that she would get her some ice if she promised not to tell anyone. My friend accepted the ice. I cannot explain why providing ice to an injured customer apparently needed to be done discreetly. What bothered me most was not simply that my friend fell. Accidents happen. It was the response afterward. A customer was bleeding, shaken, and asking for something as basic as ice. I would have expected someone to ask whether she was all right and to offer reasonable assistance. Instead, the response we experienced initially felt defensive and indifferent. The pie was refunded, which I appreciate. But the overall interaction left such a negative impression that I do not intend to return.
