Catering review. I entered Roche Bros in Acton yesterday for the first time to pick up my order, 5 platters for a bridal shower buffet lunch in the area. I wanted it to be perfect, and it was. Linda was incredibly helpful by phone in describing each item, figuring quantities, and some special dietary issues that required slight changes from their menu, all for the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. She was even able to add rolls to my order that aren't on the online menu. We brought an empty cart to the Catering desk at the end of the produce area, and it was returned to us about 10 mins later, each platter nicely arranged and sturdily boxed. Highly recommend the sushi, grilled veg pitas, and caprese salad! read more

We stopped in to pick up a few things today. Arrived at 6:20pm. The store closes at 9pm. I went straight to the deli and within 10 seconds of arriving one of the two guys turned off the lights in the deli case. I thought that was odd considering it was hours before closing. A little confused, I watched as they appeared to be cleaning up to go home....replacing the trash liners and such. This big guy (I'm being kind) rudely barked at me from 40 feet away "What do you need?!" I said "Are you closing?" He audibly sighed and barked again "What do you need?!!!!" I then looked at the other guy who was shaking his head in apparent disgust at me. Infuriated, I barked back at him and told him to never mind, found my wife, and left the store. We drove 15 minutes up the road to Donalans. I went up to the deli counter and the young woman greeted me with a big smile and a "Hi! What can I get you?" She followed that with a warm "Absolutely!" What a sharp contrast. We usually don't go to Roche brothers anyway because we live closer to Donalans but we happen to be at TJ Maxx next store. Never setting foot in there again. Checking reviews it seems others have also had issues with this big guy at the deli. What a joke. read more

i ordered 3 specialty items from this store and was careful to order them over a day in advance as I live some distance away. 31 minutes before my pickup time I got a text telling me everything was out of stock. Roche Bros is a good supermarket. My family does not do our shopping here but we do come here for a few items due to it being close to our home. The staff has always been good. The decor makes you feel like you are in a European supermarket. The prices of the food is on the expensive side though. read more

I used to like Roche Bros. but recently it seems as though everything that they advertise on sale is "sold out" when you try to buy it. The shelves with sale items are usually empty. I wanted to buy Gorton's Simply Bake Shrimp Scampi on sale so I went there EVERY DAY this week at different times and the shelf was always empty. I am getting very suspicious that either they only put out a few sale items or don't have any at all. The covid excuse is wearing thin....... poor business practice. Their tagline is "Your Family Deserves the Best" but the ingredients on their baked goods reads like a laundry list of the things not to feed your kids. Roche is clearly the best supermarket for miles in any direction. Yes, it is a little bit on the pricey side. But, it is not as bad as Whole Foods and cheaper than Idylwilde Farms. So, why am I willing to shop here? Roche has the best overall food quality and variety in the area. The seafood is almost as good as the better fish stores -- and less expensive. I think the deli has great selection. (Thank heaven, you can get Thurmann's products and other brands. I am sick and tired of supermarkets pushing Boar's Head. Ugh.) They have high quality natural ground beef. Generally, I do all of my around the edges shopping here -- veggies, fish, deli, meat, dairy. I save money by buying the packaged and canned goods at Market Basket in Westford once a month. Roche Bros. is always clean and the staff is eager to help. (Dorita at the checkout counter is great. This review is specific to the floral department. After being quoted an insanely high price for my wedding party flowers at our wedding, I had the not so great idea to do the flowers myself. After researching the process and realizing the cost and work of that, I went over to Roche Bros in Acton to talk to their awesome floral manager, Felicia, about having her take care of our wedding flowers for us. Felicia was responsive to my ideas and created beautiful bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages for our wedding party for a FANTASTIC price. I really like this store and shop here often. However, the deli has a real problem with their meats and cheeses being fresh. Quite often, deli meat goes bad after a couple of days, cheese gets moldy after a few days and just now I started eating chicken salad that was bad which I bought two days ago. I did ask the guy at the counter once if they'd received any complaints lately but he looked at me like I was crazy when I told him I had purchased meat that had gone bad within a couple of days. I stopped buying deli meat after it happened a few times. Now it's happening to cheese and salads. I have no problem with rest of the store, just stay away from the deli. read more

I go here about 25 times per year. And this was the worst visit (Monday September 28 at 3pm). The place looked as if it had been ransacked by Cossacks. Stockouts everywhere and items on the shelves were all over the place. The store manager should be ashamed. I sure didn't like writing this. read more

They say never go to the supermarket when you are hungry and this place is a fine example. The Acton location was established in April of 1995. It at the time replaced Finast grocery store. The bakery department at this location is both superb and tempting at the same time. I come here to buy muffins because the muffins are very moist, quality driven and large. read more

While reviewing super markets isn't very exciting, some notes should be made. Roche does a great job with prepared foods and catering - not quite as good as my old standby of Whole Foods, but pretty darn sufficient. Prices - some are very high, some are moderate - you do need to pay attention whilst browsing here. Service is very good - from the deli to the cashiers - they definitely make an effort to keep a friendly, helpful atmosphere. No solid complaints, but the parking lot is pretty awful. I just park in the boonies to avoid incident. Also, their premade chicken salad sandwich - not great. Maybe someone was lazy that day, but it was among the least desirable chicken salads I've ever eaten. read more

As far as grocery stores go, this is by far my favorite. Good: Selection Organization & Layout - the aisles seem a bit tight but it's straight forward and easy to figure out. Service - always friendly and helpful and they help you load your groceries into the car and bring the cart back (a huge help to anyone with kids). OK: Prices - they seem to run the gauntlet but everything/anything expensive seems very high quality. Bad: Parking - one curb cut on the other end of the parking lot plus limited spaces makes it a pain. On a side note, their catering service is surpringly good. Great food at decent prices if you avoid a couple of their fancy cheese platters. read more

This is the best market around, it's a step below Whole Foods, but hands it's a nice step up from Shaws and Stop and Shop. Always clean, great selection of produce. I have never had a kid bash me with a carriage, nor have I seen a grandmother karting groceries out to a car in the snow! I have only seen great things out of this market with the exception of the bakery that is totally overpriced. $4 for a tiny cheesecake, seriously? Whole Foods has a better selection that is cheaper. All in all, love Roche Bros. only negative is the crappy parking lot. They need to get the owner of the building to throw an entrance in the front. Had them deliver a $330 order for my parents while I was working, the delivery person showed up and had NO receipt or item list (printer was broken??) to give my parents, upon my arrival home several items were not delivered accurately or at all. I was pretty disappointed. A few days later they did get a receipt to us and made everything right. After multiple deliveries I feel I can trust them for the most part, occasionally something is amiss but they are good about correcting it. Id suggest checking your order is all and would not recommend letting them substitute items. read more

I shop Roche Bros a few times a week. I buy a lot of their prepared foods. Two years in a row I bought their corned beef and cabbage. The first year the meat was so tough I could absolutely not chew it. This year the meat was an improvement but the cabbage was not cooked at all. It was raw and dry and flavourless. Can't you make this simple New England dish? And a note to the chef. Your prepared foods are loaded with sugar and awlful sauces. I purchased your beef tips and they must of had a cup of sugar I. The bourbon sauce. Can you not do a simple grilled meat? The only items not completely unhealthy are the grilled chicken and the baked haddock. Get some new recipes and new chefs. read more

I usually shop here all the time for groceries. Today I went and hungry and thought I would try their lunch bar.its 7.99 a pound, most of the food is heavy ,as they will make a good profit. Chicken tenders were fake and worse than mcdonalds! Under cooked roasted potatoes. Won't eat that again. For the price I'd spend 9$ at a sub shop or just buy from frozen food isle. Place was clean. Staff usually friendly. But food quality poor. read more

Went to Roche Brothers in Acton today (2 days before Thanksgiving) and was so glad I did. This store is awesome and made my Thanksgiving shopping so much easier than shopping at grocery stores closer to home. I do wish they had stores in NH! I loved being able to pick up quality vegetables and fruits. I mainly came down for a great roast beef and wasn't disappointed. This store's personnel were helpful and pleasant. Still expensive, still an obstacle course re: parking. But I did buy the best.brisket.ever here last week. I had been to Traders Joes to purchase the meat, but the packing dates were very old and it made me nervous to keep the brisket in my fridge for another 5 days. The flat brisket I bought was the perfect size, and there was very little fat. Delicious. I still haven't tried food from the Passover catering menu, but my friend did and said the brisket and stuffed chicken breasts and flourless choc cake were good, but the tsimmes (sweet potato and carrot concoction and prunes), kugel, and soup were not so yummy. Yeah yeah. Didn't taste stuff from the menu firsthand, but I trust my friend's judgment implicitly. read more

I do not live in Acton but I do work here so when on my way home to Boston I stop for a quick few things often. They have fabulous produce a little expensive but it's great. Their bakery and meat dept. are great as well, when it comes to some of the management or cashiers they need a serious training course on how to treat the younger employees! On one occasion I have seen a lady manager during the day SCREAM at a young bag boy while he was assisting another customer and did not rudely turn his back while the customer was talking to him to acknowledge the manager. I have NEVER felt so sad for a young kid just trying to do his job!! Unacceptable!!!! Now today I go in the same young man very nice was getting bullied again by the male cashier. BOTH instances in front of the customer! That in which played in to the way the second customer treated him like he was dumb!! SHAME ON YOU EMPLOYEES AND SHAME ON THE CUSTOMER THAT WENT ALONG WITH IT!! Nobody should go to work feeling like they are bullied by their coworkers or supervisors!! SHAME!! read more

A little pricey yet totally worth the trip. Quality of produce, meats, deli and bakery are unsurpassed in this area. Service is just great. It truly is like the great grocery stores back in the 50's and 60's. Baggers offer to carry your groceries to your car and very pleasant employees. Twice now my family has bought meat here that we immediately freeze. When we defrost a few days later and open the package the meat is rancid. The meat packages are not sealed tight- instead they are swollen with air from bacteria emoting carbon dioxide. Will not be going back. read more

The 3 stars isn't a true representation of what Roche Bros has to offer. They provie excellent customer service, a good selection of products and an above average meat counter. I had been shopping at Roche bros since they opened in Acton. Over time, the parking situation has gone from challenging to just not possible. It's chaotic and the recent renovation to open another driveway seems to have made things worse rather than improved the situation. Sadly, I find the parking lot so off putting that I no longer will shop there. I can imagine I'm not the only one that has made this decision. Really too bad. read more

I Live Right By Roche Bros. They're Food Is Sometimes Great but sometimes not so great. Depending on the taste or not, you need to bring probably 20 dollars with you for some skimpy little pie. You CAn probably buy about 2-4 gallons of milk with that instead of some little pie. The parking is the other problem. People will shop there a lot and take up all the parking space!
