Although it is more expensive than you will find at your local market basket at least I can actually use 100% of the items, they aren't half wilted and rotten like the junk you get in a "regular" grocery store. Additionally find wonderful local and artisan cheeses, meats and baked goods- even seasonal candy and items. The floral and garden shop?? Just wow! First things first, I don't go here on a regular basis. I find Idylwilde has always had good quality items. One complaint about their food is that it is on the bit more expensive side. I went here specifically this time to get lunch with my friend after school. I went to the sandwhich area. I have been here before so I knew what to get. One complaint about the sandwich area is that it requires for you to ring a bell to get service. I found this odd because they were fully staffed. The staff was kind but took too long to make my friend and I food. It too approximately 15 minutes for two sandwiches especially a grilled cheese and a BLT. Otherwise, Idylwilde has been the same but I suggest improving prices and staff efficiency. read more

Throughout the years, I have continued to go out of my way to visit Idylwilde Farm whenever I have the chance. It's a food lover's paradise as well as a practical place to purchase fresh ingredients and quality staples to bake or cook almost anything. However, I usually opt for their already-prepared items. Idylwilde is the place for fresh fruits, veggies, deli meats & cheeses, wines, grocery staples, bakery, gourmet items, chocolates and gorgeous flowers. They make sandwiches to go and have great soups (though not in summer it seems). Got a couple sandwiches recently - Grilled Ham & Cheese on whole wheat and Chicken Parmigiana on ciabatta. The H&C was good and as you would expect, unfortunately the chicken parm was surprisingly inedible. The chicken was thick and chewy, almost as if it had freezer burn, the sauce was strangely flavorless, and there was a serious lack of cheese. Needless to say, I had to toss it and suggest you steer clear of this choice. It's probably the only time in 30 years I've had a complaint about anything at Idylwilde, so I'll chalk it up to an anomaly. And if anyone at Idylwide is reading this, please ask the chef to pound the chicken thin and add some balsamic vinegar, garlic and basil to that sauce. read more

This farm to table business is my favorite place to shop for vegetables, bakery items, fruit, flowers and specialty foods and items! It is a 15/20 minute drive from my home and I try to get there once a month. The vegetables last for about 10 to 14 days! I highly recommend adding them to your go to place! read more

Some how Idylwilde had fallen off my radar. I used to drive there specifically as a destination store years ago. But now that I'm in Acton twice a week, right around the corner, why am I not going there? Idylwilde is part farm stand, part gourmet grocery store, part garden center, part cafe. You can walk in, get corn stalks and pumpkins for your front steps, a cup of coffee and a gourmet baked good for a mid morning snack, and bring home bread, cheeses, wine and fruit for an evening picnic. I stopped in over the weekend. I needed fresh, vine ripened, heirloom cherry tomatoes for a caprese salad. I was able to find them. $1.99 for a half pint. While I was there I realized what a treasure I was missing. I feel like Idylwilde is the type of place- you cannot walk into with a list. You need to walk in with an open mind and let the products speak to you. I hadn't planned on toasted rye with goat cheese and hot pepper jelly for dinner. We recently went here to get some produce, pumpkins and other items. We saw the Turkey pies and bought one. What a major disappointment. We had it for dinner and there was almost no turkey in the pie. There was lots of gravy, crust and some vegetables. It should have been called a vegetable pie considering the lack of turkey. Given what we paid for this pie, it was a rip off. During dinner we all were asking WHERE is the TURKEY. If you want a vegetable pie, described as a Turkey pie then this is pie to buy. This place really is worth a trip out. I am very lucky to live less than a mile away from it and therefore do not have to contend with parking or other craziness. The people that work there are quite friendly but I've noticed can easily get overwhelmed when it's very busy. The clientele, knowing where this place is, can also be a little extra and not the kindest. Recently came in here and was pleasantly surprised by the huge selection of crackers they had for wine and cheese plates. It is 100% worth the price! They also have an amazing selection for flowers and plants! During fall they have the most marvelous selection of pumpkins and gourds! We make the drive for this place because it's not like other farm stands or markets. We go for the great selection of prepared grab and go foods. Grilled chicken salad, asparagus chopped salad, pub cheese, the fresh baked English muffins and fluffy apple cider donuts. We tried a sample of the roasted tomatoes and goat cheese, and it was so good we had to buy it. They also have a fantastic flower selection. read more

I love this place so much I could just spend the day wandering around! The food, the flowers, the stationary, even the way things are displayed here is beautiful. I was able to purchase all of the flowers for my wedding here! Yep, that's right, for like $130 I got enough flowers to fill the many various little vintage vases I had set on each reception table and enough for my sister to create 6 bouquets with (including my bridal bouquet). There was such an amazing variety to choose from that I ended up getting a bit of everything! And some floral shops told me that it I wouldn't be able to have peonies at my May 5th wedding...pppshhht! I knew I could count on Idylwilde Farms! Love coming here to pickup Herbs, flowers and veggie plants for the garden. They also have a great selections of annuals, and perennials. But the best thing is INSIDE!!!! they have fresh fruits, vegetables and everything in between. Selection of cheeses, crackers, and so much more to please your eyes and your tummy. Their prices I feel are reasonable, for the quality you're getting is unmistakably a great buy. This is a MUST visit for anyone who loves to have fresh fruits, veggies and gourmet food. I used to shop at Idylwilde Farm every week for years, but after having an unfortunate incident, I'm completely turned off and will never shop there again. Their produce used to be consistently exceptional until recently. I noticed their 3 packs of romaine lettuce were way off, in fact, all the middle heads were partially rotten. I asked a staff member to take a look and inquired if they could repackage a couple of packs with 3 healthy heads. Why should their customers have to discard 30% of the package? It looked like they deliberately tried hiding the rotten heads of romaine between 2 larger, healthy heads. Why else were all the rotten ones packed in the middle? It was early evening, and I was told no one was available to repackage them. I asked to speak to a manager and showed how their entire inventory was partially damaged and asked if they could adjust the price. Their asst. manager acknowledged the inferior product but said there's nothing they can do about adjusting the price. I replied of course they could. Then she said, "If you don't like what we have, come back another time or go buy it somewhere else!" I couldn't believe how dug in they were when 2 reasonable solutions were available. I simply left without buying anything. The next day I called the produce manager named Chris. He promised to look into the matter and took my phone number. A week passed but he never called so I contacted Idylwilde again and spoke to one of the co-owners, David Napoli. He said I was the only one who complained about the romaine. So I asked, what point was he trying to make and what about the rude comment by his staff, and no followup call by his produce manager? Mr. Napoli seemed reluctant to apologize and no "good will" gesture to lure me back. The cherry on top was when he said maybe my husband should do the shopping instead. Wow. It's obvious to me, Idylwilde Farm doesn't care about treating loyal customers with common courtesy or honest business practices. I won't miss shopping there and I doubt they'll miss me. I'll go to Whole Foods in Sudbury from now on. Bye bye Idylwilde Farm. read more

Can't say anything but great things about how wonderful it feels to spend hard-earned money here. (Note: You'll find fantastic ground-by-Idylwilde meats--beef, bulk sausage, etc.--but only whole poultry, so if you need ground chicken or turkey, plan to pick that up elsewhere. Trade off? We regularly shop at Idylwilde and have been very uncomfortable seeing their employees without masks week after week after week. They sometimes have their masks down around their necks or they don't have them on at all. These are the same employees who handle our unpackaged produce. This is a tough one. I love the variety and the produce is amazing. All of the products are top shelf - things you can't find anywhere else. A huge selection of wine, cheese, condiments, fresh baked bread and yumminess of all sorts. HOWEVER, and it's a big however for me, the people are monsters. The help in the store barely acknowledge your existence (unless you are in their way) and the vast majority of the customers stink of privilege and distant for the common folk - pushy, pushy, pushy. This is a Yuppified store, part Whole Foods Market, part garden center. It is crowded and staff are not customer oriented. They see that they are blocking aisles but don't apologize or move, ask you for change because they don't want to count out pennies, and put my flowers crooked on the top part of the shopping cart so they almost fell on the floor because I turned down the extra packaging of a box they wanted to pile all my purchases into. Everything is visually beautiful - flawless produce, cleverly wrapped candies, lush hanging baskets of flowers - and expensive. It may be worth it for some of their specialty items like gluten free foods, but not for most things. Wooden bins containing food give an illusion of natural environmentalism, but how much of what they could sell that is perfectly edible is culled for aesthetic reasons, or genetically modified to look good? Been a customer for many years. It's a great place, but either manager or owner have to look into customer service 101 if they want to keep their business thriving. While back, I questioned pre packaged cheese, because the date was too close to purchase. I asked to have cheese sliced to be fresh, and this person, presumably a manager heard me and snapped at me and said it was all the same. NOT. Ok yesterday grabbed a bottle of wine, and decided I didn't need it. I was reluctant to add back to the shelf, because I didn't want to push the last bottle in and accidentally have it break. My wife asked staff member for help, and she was very obliging. This same arrogant person over heard and rudely snapped Just put it in. This in sensitive person needs to be more respectful to customers, and not be rude. We're all coming out of COVID. Now is not the time to take business for granted! read more

I have been coming here for over 25 years, today I was at the deli and got my usual selections, saw the hard salami that I love that is $25 a pound in large chunks. Asked the young gentlemen with dark hair and glasses to slice thin and place on parchment paper and was told that it would take too long and he couldn't do it.. Are you kidding me as I walked away disgusted. YOU need to train your employees at the deli about customer service as this is not the norm - I have been buying this product for years here and this is the first time that one of your employees refused to slice it; isn't that what a deli does slice product for your customers? And at the price I would think he would be happy to do so. I do my best to support local business but will think twice about shopping here again. read more

Grew up less than a mile from here, and LOVE this place with a passion. However, now that I'm the one footing the bills instead of mom & dad it has become a very rare treat. Some highlights: - Their native corn. When you can get it, there is absolutely NO better in the state! - Their fresh-squeezed orange juice. You watch them squeeze it right in the store, one of the few "fresh-squeezed" brands that truly tastes like you're drinking an orange - Their sweets!!! From locally baked treats like cookies, croissants and breads to a whole wall of just about every candy imaginable... what's not to love? - Their flowers are always beautiful and somehow seem to last longer than when I buy them elsewhere Their quality is really unsurpassed by any place else.
