I came back today again because I forgot one little thing I had to pick up really quick and I had to use the bathroom and guess what we're still there? This is my favorite Stop and Shop on the Island. It is where I go food shopping before I hop aboard the Fire Island ferry, which is just a skip and a jump away. The produce is fresh and lasts in the fridge for days. It does not spoil as quickly as it does in some other grocery store chains. No bruised tomatoes! No brown bananas! No fruit flies! There are plenty of international foods to choose from, too. I buy my plantains and mangoes here. Every shelf is stocked well, and the floors are clean. No products are sold past their expiration date! This store is well managed. There are plenty of customer service associates walking around, asking shoppers if they need help. I clip digital coupons on the Stop and Shop website and download them to my loyalty card Adding my card to Apple Wallet makes the check-out process faster. The attitude of customer service and attitude of the assistant manager. Went into the store one day to customer service. It was 8:45 in the morning and nobody was at customer service. I asked and a lady came out of the office with an attitude and said it's not open because I'm counting money.. and I asked her don't you count the money tonight before and how long will you be? Carmen the woman at checkout has an attitude! No greet hello and from the moment I asked if there was a limit as it was register #1 she had an attitude. In fact she couldn't even verbalize a yes or no. Alls she muttered was ah ah or uh ugh when I tried to ask her 2 more questions. I don't know much about Long Island, except that it's way, way too long, with way, way too many people causing way, way too much traffic. But I'm pretty sure this is the best grocery store to stock up on all the foodstuffs you're going to need on Fire Island. Well, they've got everything I needed at least: 1. Meat. At first I was pretty worried that their lack of skirt steak was going to ruin my fajita night plan, but my man Lenny behind the butcher counter handled his biz, and we were good to go. 2. Beer. 3. All the condiments. 4. A solid selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, including shredded cabbage for making cole slaw that is literally the only thing I've ever found before my wife did. 5. Free samples. Thinking about fajitas, and ribs, and hot dogs, and all of that had me pretty hangry, and a nice lady was over in the deli selection with a beautiful tray of different turkeys, meats, and cheeses. (She did look a bit traumatized when I stacked them all on top of each other and shoved them all into my mouth at once, so we bought some of her cheese. It was good and cheesy.) read more

Horrible store not helpful at all. My digital coupon wasn't working cashier said he couldn't do anything about it. When I asked if he could get a manager he said he wouldn't. I had to get the manager myself to help me. When I told the manager that the cashier said there was nothing a manager can do the cashier said the manager isn't supposed to be giving me the discount. This is a pretty legit Stop & Shop! As far as normie supermarkets go, I often have flawless shopping experiences here. The parking is OK, the carts aren't broken and the place is HUGE. Wide aisles upon aisles of eats and goods for consumption. Bonus points for carrying GSB and other local brews. I managed to snag some Manager's Specials on meat and it was super cheap. Super old, maybe, but tasted just fine when fired up that night. Any who, as far as supermarkets go you can do far worse. Especially in the area. Do it. Protip: Watch out for weekend and FI ferry traffic. Protip 2: Speaking of FI, go online and order your food for FI delivery!! read more

I don't recommend this location. Wasn't able to find anything easily the store basically has no staff. Walked around the store 3 times before I even found a worker who didn't know where any items were and referred me to a different worker who ignored me then told me he didn't know either. I went to customer service where there was no one. Eventually I was able to speak to Vita who was not helpful at all. I left before even getting all my groceries. I am very disappointed at the lack of service at this stop and shop location. Poor management and incompetent staff. read more

This store continues to be mismanaged, under stocked and overpriced! Deli workers smoke as your coming in the front door! When all the stores were renovated this one was barely touched! The employees are poorly trained as to how to speak to customers. I apparently was using the scanner incorrectly at checkout. The employee who was monitoring the check out registers approached me, clicked her tongue, and stated, "you broke it now go to this other one" and conveniently her name tag was flipped backwards so I could not see it. I usually go to the West Islip location, it is like night and day, they know how to speak to people properly and respectfully. I will never come here again. read more

Worst stop & shop. No hand wipes to clean cart when you walk in the store, didn't see one hand sanitizer through out the store and cashier gave me a hard time to put a card in for me since I grabbed the wrong keys without my member card on it. Very disappointed read more

The self checkout machines are always working and if you need something you can get the manager fast, The deli department has boars head and they always slice the ham thin like I ask. This the by far the worst stop and shop. Every time I go there is always something that's expired. The meat, juice were expired they don't stock there shelves, or get rid of stuff that expired. I went to get cheese and it was two months expired. The employees are rude, disrespectful when I told an employee. I wouldn't waste your time. Only with the bay shore location. read more

This is one of my favorite supermarkets and has been a family place to shop for a long time. I bought two boxes of Pop Tarts (peanut butter and PB & J), a box of oatmeal, Cranberry-cherry and Cranberry-mango juices, a four pack of Starbucks Iced-Espresso, and finally feta cheese to toss on my hamburger. This is the worst Stop & Shop I have ever been to!!! It is really close to me but I would rather drive a ways away to go to one that is more satisfactory (or the King Kullen that is across the street)! These are my complaints: the bakery section is never stocked until 9:30 a.m. on a daily basis (they obviously don't care that there competition, the boutique bakeries down the road, have theirs out at 7 a.m at the latest), most of their employees sit around ignoring customers talking (usually complaining about working there, when, in this recession, leave....there's plenty of people to fill those jobs) or on their phones or listening to music, far too often the self check outs are closed or have no cash in them and it's just overall unkept (smelly and dirty).
