Everything here is excellent. It can sometimes be a little expensive, but of course meat costs quite a bit. They're really really great and will work with you to try to give you whatever it is that you think you want, and if you're not sure they help you.Highly recommended! What a gem!! I'm so glad I found this spot, it exceeded all expectations. I came in for some Father's Day recommendations, Peter and his dad could not have been nicer or more helpful. They had a fantastic selection of everything, from meat to some pantry items to even home made blue cheese dressing! The store was so clean and lovely, I wish I could have bought everything. I got pork shoulder and short ribs for my dad, and it was a huge hit!!! We still have a few braciole and burgers to try and can't wait! read more

I stopped in to pick up a nice steak for my girlfriend Trish the other day. I bought (upon the counter persons suggestion ) a beautiful 1" think cut of wonderfully marblized NY Strip. I told him she likes it medium-rare and he said that on a very hot grill, 3 1/2 minutes on each side. It was so perfect, so juicy and a terrific robust flavor. I refuse to buy beef in a grocery store any more. It's usually a just a waste of money. It's always too tough and it taste like garbage. I find that frequently, it taste's like liver. I always get great advice for cooking there and always know I'm in for a treat when I purchase there. read more

I am kicking myself for passing by so many times! This place is great. They have everything and do an incredible amount of prep in-house. They dry-age beef in-house and smoke their own bacon, and it is delicious. Plus the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to. I bought rib eyes and bacon and was very satisfied with both. The bacon was cut way too thin for me though, but I'll ask for thicker next time. Definitely going back. read more

What exactly does one look for in a butcher shop.... 1. Experience (Pete and Pete have many years in the field) 2. Honesty...when talking to Pete on the type of meat he will let you know exactly whats what. 3. Value..yes you are going to pay more than at a super market but you will not get anywhere near the quality of food than at this store. Walking into the shop is like the old tv show, Cheers, as everyone seems to know your name. Smiles all around handshakes or a hug from old friends, how could you not like this place. You feel like family and hear other customers talk about their past meals. The star of the show...the tremendpus meats provided by Islip Meat Market. Variety is here..you need a lean cut..no problem..your watching your weight...he we got some home make chicken burgers...you want top shelf..try the peter luger burgers..and we arent even talking about the beautiful steaks hanging. Went in for the first time and was promptly greater by Pat. He was so friendly and knowledgeable, providing us with background on the business as well as many helpful cooking tips. We immediately eyed the short rib in the case, which Pat cut up for us to cook in the crockpot for dinner later that evening. We also tried the sweet and spicy sausages, which come from a 106 year old family recipe. Everything was delicious and was high quality! My whole family loved it and are looking forward to trying other items such as steak or burgers in the near future. I have been passing by this establishment for years and not realizing it was there. Then I was shopping for a nice local Butcher and I came across IMM. Who's j had Great Yelp reviews. I wanted either a rib roast or steak to enjoy with my wife. I met Pete who by the way is the Most Professional,Cordial Gentleman I've come across in retail in a Long Time! Pete took his time to show and explain the different cuts and prices of the Meats I was interested in and MORE!! I finally made a decision on 2 T Bone stakes approx 1-1/2" thick that looked incredible. I explained I couldn't BBQ where I live now and Pete gave me probably the simplest instructions on cooking the steaks on a cast Ironman and then into a super Hot oven for no more than 10mins total and he was on the Freakin $. Thanks Again Pete!! You have a New Customer. They also have Freshly prepared side dishes,homemade salads,Dry Aged Meats and plenty of BBQ sauces,mustards,ketchups and condiments for sale also. But the Best part of the visit was the saw dust On the floor for that Old School Butcher Shop Feel. It brought me back to the the days of going to the butcher with my Grand Parents and Parents.
