We have been customers here over 30 years. Service is not what it used to be. Check all your items as a few times now label with price doesn't match item. 1 lb. Chop meat $15.99??! Item clearly marked with marker 1 lb. Yet charged 2.15 lbs. last time this happened mentioned owner, Tino, didn't offer to make good, seemed like he didn't t believe us. Done shopping there. Online or telephone order pickup? There is an online order pickup sign in the shop with arrow pointing for you to stand for pickup. Save yourself and everyone concerned about your business in this shop and take a number at the door like everyone else. Once you have that ticket, nobody can leave you feeling foolish waiting under that sign like some fool that cut the line. The meat is good enough for me to drive 60 miles to pickup - just ignore that pickup sign and wait like everyone else with a ticket at the door. The hero my husband ordered was the best hero I've had in a long time. The salads were the closest to homemade I've ever had. I am extremely fussy about my salads , particularly potato salad, it did not disappoint. Everything done exactly at the time my husband requested. This Covid-19 virus is creating havoc everywhere. It was starting to look like our regular supermarket was running low on meat and not replenishing. So I suggest to my wife that we check out Cow Palace for a large meat order. I had seen a few comments on Yelp by Yelp Superstar Bill S. So we pull up their adds on the internet which looked pretty good. Also I'm on a grass fed beef craze. Look if I'm eating red meat I believe it should be good quality. And yes Cow Palace has Grass Fed Beef. So my wife places a huge order which I know means where supplying food for my kids. So here's the deal. We place the order on line. Someone calls you back to go over the order. Once it's confirmed they give you a date to pick it up. We order on Friday and they say pick up Saturday. Not bad? No not the next day Saturday but the next week Saturday. Ok not much choice but I'm trying to see the up side. They are so busy that they are getting a regular flow of beef in which I'm convinced it then very fresh. Ok the following Saturday rolls around and we get a call around 3:15 PM to pick up and pick up must be by 6:00. I pick it up to find out there must be 50 lbs of beef. Nearly got a hernia carrying it to my car. I get home and Mrs. E starts checking it out. Turns out they add a couple of extra oz to each package. No complaints by me. BTW The prices are very reasonable. We haven't eaten any of it yet but I'm pretty sure we're going to be happy with it and will probably be back when this order runs low. Just a side note. Our regular supermarket now has plenty of meat, just not the quality or price that Cow Palace puts out. read more

I have been coming to cow palace for a while for meats, but I took a chance on them for catering for a wedding shower. To be honest, I didn't realize they did more than just bbq catering. The prices were very reasonable and booking them was a breeze. I had issues with another caterer not getting back to me with pricing, etc, but this was not an issue here. We also had them set up servers for us. Let me tell you, this was the easiest party I've ever had. The food was delicious and the servers were phenomenal. We got mozzarella sticks, chicken parm, sausage & peppers, baked clams, crab cakes, eggplant parm,, mashed potatoes, chicken cordon blu, grilled Veges and salads. I would 100% recommend cow palace for catering to anyone that asks. read more

I'm surprised by the positive reviews of this place. My experience was a nightmare. Not only was the staff unfriendly and seemingly inconvenienced by me ordering some meats, but the woman at the register was equally as unfriendly. Then, when I arrived home, I discovered the meat that was wrapped up for my order was brown and disgusting. I threw it out--and never went back. Be careful consuming anything from Cow Palace. I now see the state health department has issued numerous violations against them. No thanks. Plenty of far better butchers and delis around this island. read more

Amazing butcher shop with unbeatable prices! They slice and package chicken cutlets as requested. The steaks are tender, marinades tasty. So many flavored sausage/chicken sausage/burger options. Cold cut prices are the best on the island. They have both boars head and their own deli brand. There are specials all of the time that are fantastic. They haven't raised prices even during inflation which is why they have so many customers and are super busy. I love the option to order online so I everything is ready just when I pick it up. The freshest meat and top quality customer service is what makes Cow Palace my go to! I always stock up on their sale items. Anything you need, cut & freezer wrapped to your specifications. They have everything! Chicken, pork, turkey, beef & fish. They also do catering, which is very good as well. The homemade sauces and soups are worth every penny. And the Stromboli and garlic bread they make in store are amazing. They also carry milk, eggs and a weird variety of grocery items. Although more expensive than a supermarket, you can't beat the convenience when putting together a meal the same day. If you want avoid crowds and waiting, you can order online or over the phone and just go there to pick it up. And if you're uncomfortable entering the store due to Covid concerns, they are happy to bring your order out to your car. Be sure to tip, because good service is worth a little extra. Since moving "out east" we have tried to find a happy place at Cow Palace, Rocky Point but it continues to disappoint. Beef trimmed only fairly and anything beyond the "slap it on the scale" purchase, forget it. Asked for pork chops with pocket for stuffing and got 1" chops literally sliced in half to the bone so it could not hold a thing. I've been buying 3,000+ plus pounds of chicken a year, for four years running from this place. The manager, Mike, has progressively become more difficult to deal with over the years. You would think with that kind of volume, he would be more courteous. Instead he comes across like it's always a bother to him. He constantly delays my order, and has even once told one of his workers to not take my order out to my truck, as I waited outside for 20+minutes with my hatch open in 20 degree weather. I tip the guys $3-5 when they bring it out, so I didn't understand. I went back into the store and he and the worker (standing together) pretended not to know about my order, and that I was waiting outside. Awful. I've seen instances where he treats customers with a condescending attitude, and is constantly trying to 'bump the price'. Tino, you are about to lose my business, I am sure others have felt the same. You can do better than this guy. read more

We get all of our meat here. much better than the local grocery store. We love the marinated Tips and Tails. We found a new favorite here. They make a single serving chicken pot pie found in the deli department. I have had many chicken pot pie but never one with a crust as buttery and crisp as this one. After heating up at home, the crust was perfectly brown and flakey, and it had a rich and buttery flavor that complemented the delicious filling. The filling was delicious with tender chicken, flavorful vegetables, and a creamy sauce. The overall dish was hearty and satisfying and it was definitely one of the best chicken pot pies I have ever had. Overall, I would highly recommend this chicken pot pie to anyone who loves a good comfort food. It is definitely one of the best I have ever had. read more

I've been a somewhat regular customer for ten years and recently I purchased marinated skirt steak on sale which I've never done before, as a young person I worked at a butcher and remember that they used to marinate meats that were" older " but the day I went against my better judgement and failed miserably! The two pounds of steak I purchased should not of been sold and had we eaten them the family would of been sick! I took one bite and knew the meat had turned and this was one day after purchase. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt but personally they should of known better I would not advise buying marinated meats from cow palace. read more

Pot Pies are a comfort food for me. As a financially challenged family back in the late 70's and early 80's I remember these complete meals in a tin tray were a staple. Homemade pies could be made from whatever leftovers you had on hand and if you had the skill to make the crust, a family of five could eat for pennies per person per meal. For those without the pastry making gene or more ambition than time, the store bought pies were always an alternative. I seem to recall these being as inexpensive as 59 cents a pie on sale. So still feeding a family of 5 for under $5 was still possible. While the Cow Palace Brisket Pot Pie doesn't meet the economical goals of yesteryear, the hearty stew and flaky crust bring strike all the right chords. The old commercial pies could be decapitated in one or two pieces allowing the top crust to be saved for last. This was a favorite approach of mine. For the Cow Palace creation, this is not possible. The crust is far too flaky for these types of shenanigans. I even tried undermining the the crust to keep it whole; no joy here either. The takeaway here is that this in one flaky crust. And the stew has enough broth so that you can sop it up with your favorite bread accompaniment. In the end this was a nice walk down memory lane even if it was a little more pricey than the Pot Pies of my youth. But I'd be willing to bet that nutritionally it's better than anything you get a a fast food "Five buck box". read more

BEWARE OF BAIT AND SWITCH! I went in for a few items that were on sale. I ordered deli cappy which was on sale, he stated that it is only the hot cappy no problem. I will try the hot cappy. I was charged three times the amount of the sale. Additionally, I ordered boars head american cheese and was overcharged. The sticker price I was charged said boars head mozzarella cheese. Meats are good Deli is just ok if you are there anyway to save time. what pisses me of and has made me go to Chubbs (same quality meat, better pricing but further) is that not only do they add 3.5% cost of business to your bill but after spending over 150 (20.00 in deli) They refused to honor their $10 coupon telling me I couldn't use it because I got deli too. I still had $130 in meat and nowhere on that coupon does it say meat only !!! I'm so done getting robbed by my own neighbors I'll take the ride to chubs. read more

2 of my friends highly recommended trying the online ordering. Big mistake. I ordered 1 1/2 pounds of veal and when I picked up the order, it was only 1 pound. It was no quicker to order online as I had to wait for someone to get the order. When I got home, instead of getting my ordered salami, it was pepperoni (I ordered correctly, I checked the receipt) I also ordered Prosciutto and whoever sliced it, did a terrible job. Every time I tried to peel a slice it shredded into pieces. Although it's a smaller store, I'll stick to Middle Island. read more
