I'm not a fan of Culling animals, or the Cullen family on Twilight (okay, they're not bad), but I'm even less of a fan of the King Kullen supermarkets on Long Island. I was not a fan of this grocery store at all from my first visit, even though it's pretty special for me because it was where I first started figuring out my name - as in my brand new name. I was able to get some of what I wanted here, but they don't have a great selection and the prices are really high. It's sort of like paying Wegmans or Kroger prices but getting Tops or Food 4 Less goods. Okay, it's not the worst grocery store, but it's expensive and I'm not a big fan. Still it was helpful, and I was able to have a little nap in the parking lot without much trouble. read more

I ordered 24 cupcakes from the bakery for my daughters birthday and they were delicious. Everyone that had them said how yummy they were. Horrible awful market in Huntington/Halesite. We came here when we first moved to the area in June 2018 and now I remember how much I hated it. Horrible inventory, no specialty items, employees who would rather be anywhere else besides Kink K lips. What is with the supermarkets in NY??? This place is AWFUL!!!! I didn't even take any photos because I wanted to leave ASAP. It's also way more expensive than the competition. Why don't we have a Trader Joe's here instead of Went back today and it still SUCKS!! Jennifer is so amazing !!! She helped me above and beyond to get the perfect bouquet for my mothers birthday. Not only was she sweet she was so attentive and patient. I will be coming to see Jennifer for flowers from now on! I like this store because it's not nearly as crowded as Stop N Shop or Shop Rite, and the staff is usually pretty nice. They also have some stuff I can't get as easily at other stores! For a few things price wise I wouldn't go here, but I don't think it's as bad as some people think. read more

My family has been shopping here since 1967, back when there were "bag boys" and you could drive up and have your groceries loaded into your car out of a basket on a conveyor belt. Ah, for bygone days. Now, the selection is far more sophisticated, the prices are higher (but certainly competitive), and the store expanded its footprint considerably. It's essential to the neighborhood, to Halesite, to Huntington Bay. The produce section, which has just been rearranged, is always fresh. The baked goods are too. The deli is always well-staffed, the employees friendly. The fish guys are always ready to talk about a recipe. The butcher is happy to take suggestions on items to carry, and to custom cut steaks and roasts while you wait. In many ways, it is the same store my mother and grandmother shopped at every Friday in the 60s, 70s and 80s. My only problem with the store is its teenaged cashier staff - they all stand around, talking loudly about dates and getting wasted, instead of serving customers. The career cashiers are fantastic - helpful, attentive, friendly - but the kids are useless. I'd rather see adults who value the jobs be employed. It's not easy work. It takes adults to do it properly. All things considered, I'm glad I have this as my neighborhood grocery. read more

These one star reviews are either from disgruntled former employees or competitor. King Kullen carries a good assortment of inventory & enough decent sales to make it worth coming back. The bakery is top notch. The folks that work there are usually very pleasant & helpful. A couple of the younger recruits could use a little CS training but in today's workplace it's amazing they're working at all. Produce could be better managed so they sell "on the turn" items at sale prices earlier. BTW - don't blame the store for the arrogant & ultra rude Huntington shoppers. read more

For some reason Yelp has this store listed as closed? As far as I know it's still open... . Anyways a fairly well run store that's nice and clean with a decent produce section and a very good deli with Boars Head only cold cuts. The one thing that they lose a star for here is the fact that there's always a line and never enough cashiers here. Perhaps adding a few more cashiers or 4 or 6 self checkouts would expedite this process a little bit. Other than that issue this is a pretty problem free location. read more

I think the lady that works in the Deli, shouldn't be working there. She is extremely nasty, mean, and just really not a person that should be working with people. If she doesn't like the way you speak (softly) she will say "speak up-I can't hear you' -but there is a right way and a wrong way of doing it. She is just nasty. I have seen her do this multiple times to not only myself and others. It is a shame that this person still has a job. Supposedly Management said they never had any complaints about her, but when leaving 2 customers (because they were listening) said that isn't true. The Owners should send in people (as blind Shoppers) to see for themselves. Another tip would be is when she goes off (either on a customer or co-worker) if you stand in the Produce Aisle you can hear her there as well... read more

Poor customer service at this location. I don't understand how it's acceptable to be rude to customers or to raise their voice at them when simply asking a question. Instead try and listen. These negative reviews are BS. The huge give away was attacking customer service levels. The majority of King Kullen Huntington workers are more than pleasantly helpful. The Bakery department is outstanding. The Butcher is fabulously knowledgeable & very accommodating. Deli is great (But check eggs you're using in prepared food). All & all it's a terrific little neighborhood grocery. More than competitive with SnS. Keep up the good work. read more

I basically like King Kullen. However, it has been my experience that quite often when they sell products at a sizable discount it is because the products are inferior due to being "on the turn" or other issue acting there quality. Latest being Purdue chicken breast. I purchase them regardless of price because of their usual high quality. The discounted packages I purchased this week contained breasts that were inedible. This has happened with other supermarkets with their "cheap" brands hence my choice to stick with Purdue. After researching I found that approximately 5-10% of chicken breasts fall into a category called "Woody Breasts" that are nutritional sound but tough, stringy and as I describe, crunchy. What is most disturbing is that this condition "can" be recognized and is often sold at a discount. Nuff said... read more

This could easly be a three or even four star supermarket with a few changes. The parking lot is ample though a large portion of it tends to flood, the food quality is at least average, the regular prices fair and the layout excellent. The bakery is good and I have not any complaints about the Seafood Department. I also like that you do not need an loyalty card to get the specials The main problem is the personnel. For the most part they are unfriendly and the cashiers are not focused on the customer. I shop mainly in off hours so perhaps this is not the case during the day. I tend to purchase most of my food from the nearby Southdown Market and the Trader Joe's in Commack. in both of those stores the shopping experience in exceptional thanks in large part to their highly competent and friendly employees. read more

One of two major supermarkets in huntington village. King kullen is the only other option other than waldbaums located down the block. Both don't have great. King kullen as a decent selection is a slightly less version of waldbaums. What keeps king kullen in the ranks is the deli counter, because unlike there competitors they serve board head meat. read more
