A very unpleasant experience. Haven't been to the Huntington location in years. At my recent visit the store is going down the toilet . I get the impression their lease is ending and they have no intention of renewing the lease. Way over due for updating & renovations, dirty, no management, food that has been sitting around forever and near its expiration dates. Products that have been sitting on the shelves for so long they are greasy and dusty. I truly think they are still open for business so they can take advantage of all the old folks that live in the apartment complex nearby that don't drive. Here's the main point: I got the large turkey meatballs which I usually like a lot. But there was so much ground up bone in the mix it was like eating a jawbreaker. Gross and dangerous. What's up with that guys? Please do some better QA. Otherwise they have a lot of specialty items and a lot of vegan/vegetarian options (though I'm neither, I think it's commendable). Also a nice wellness section with some unique items. I just want to balance this because I am aware most people post when they're angry. So I'll say it's a good place to go if you know what you want, or you're into alternative, socially responsible brands. But Zack T. has it right when he says the staff are waaaay out of it. Sometimes it feels like no one's there. Often there's no one manning the deli counter and I have to bother the seafood guy, who disappears into the store's nether-regions where these people dwell, doing whatever incantations, or just napping. I consider myself and expert in Chicken Pot Pies. I hadn't been here for about three years and I'm happy to report they were as good as ever. On the whole this specialty mart is among the best with excellent quality. However, I would not shop here regularly because there's too much price gouging. I can afford it but I refuse to be a party to it. I once considered Whole Foods to be the epitome of price gouging, but now with places like Uncle Giuseppe's, Southdown Marketplace and Wild By Nature, Whole Foods has now become reasonably priced in comparison. The only healthy food market in Huntington Village with kids working as cashiers. They are overwhelmed with customers who have more than a couple of items to ring up. The produce is nice looking but ridiculously overpriced as well as most of the food items. The deli has prepared foods that don't look as fresh as they should. 3 stars for frozen gluten free potstickers!! Management needs to intervene and help smooth out customer issues. read more

Heads up, people! Check the weight of your produce BEFORE you check out. The scale at the registers ARE NOT correct. I checked my receipt today and for a zucchini that weighs 6.15 ounces, they charged me for one that weighs 1.18 lb. Also an onion that weighs 6.70 ounces, they rang it up as weighing almost a pound. I went back a few receipts and saw that they have been charging me way over what the actual weight of the produce is. So please check beforehand, so that when you get to the register you'll know what your produce weighs. I've been coming here a few times a week since they opened and I shudder to think of how often this must be happening. I really hope that this has been an "honest mistake" all along.. read more

This place is legit a shit hole. The workers are spaced out and have no clue what's going on. They look like they're on pills. I had to go to customer service to pick an item up and I'm standing there for 5 minutes with no help to be found. I finally saw lady in the back with headphones on then she came and helped. As with all organic, health and specialty stores, this place is expensive. What can I say, good place to go if you're on a Ketogenic diet, but actually, down the street is Mission Nutrition. Venting now... I have to say that I would normally have no reason to be wasting time writing a review of a grocery store but here we are. Wild By Nature (WBN) is a good store that has its place in the area, but it does have some issues that are quirky to say the least. WBN has a nice variety of organic vegetables, although many are prepackaged and sometimes look anything but fresh. The greens are outstanding though! It typically has a very nice selection of mushrooms as well. Overall, there are some unusual items that I am sure appeal to the orgo crowd. But... we go there mainly for the meats, particularly, steaks and chicken. The hand-cut steaks are of a high quality (excellent flavor) and the butcher makes thicker cuts to put into a display case that are excellent. We look forward to these. So why the poor review? Today at about 4pm, I entered the store and there were almost no steaks in the case. Usually this case is still pretty packed around this time. There were in fact only 3 large porterhouse steaks at 2+ lbs each. Too large and too expensive at $29 a lb. I saw a person cleaning up and asked him why there were no steaks and he said they had been sold. Upon asking, he also chillily informed me that he had just 'disinfected' the area, and although he would have done it (really?), he will not cut another ONE shell steak for us. He directed me to the prepackaged case which had almost nothing left. So my question is why? If the store has hours until 6pm and I arrive at 4, why can't I get a steak if the butcher is still there? Poor quality prepared foods. I've been coming here for years for prepared foods, thinking because they're prepared healthily and with quality, that i am doing myself a favor. WRONG. THIS IS THE THIRD time I have purchased prepared foods that have had mold inside of them. The first two times I was accused of not storing the food properly (I put it in my fridge immediately, and tried to use it the next day.) so many other places in the surround towns that I can purchase from. I don't know how I've never reviewed Wild by Nature before! This has always been my go-to store for all things natural, vegetarian, and vegan. I was a vegetarian for a long time and this place saved my ass on many occasions. The store is huge and laid out in a way that you won't be bumping into other carts as you wander up and down the aisles. There are tons of items to check out here! They carry the entire Earth Balance (vegan butter, shortening, etc.) line as well as many non-dairy cheese and meat options. They also have tofu in every form you could ever desire, as well as seitan strips. A few of their bakery items are also dairy but not many. Their deli section hosts many vegan and vegetarian options. I'm fond of their non-chicken salad whether on its own or in between two slices of vegan bread. The aisles literally offer anything needed for the gluten-free or vegetarian in your life. They also offer many sugar-free items to keep things beetus friendly. I love that they have sample size protein shake mixes for you to try out before splurging on a $25 canister. There is also a juice bar with tables in the front if you want to stick around with a drink and/or snack. The main reason I go here over the other natural markets (I won't say names but one has the initials WF) are the prices. They are owned by King Kullen, which is a company that prides themselves on not stealing from you just because you want to eat healthier. They also have a frequent shoppers card that eventually rewards you for shopping. Pretty much everything I bought on my most recent trip had a discount. Customer service is always great and friendly here, as well. I love this place. read more

Just read that this place is owned by RIP OFF King Kullen! That's why it's so expensive! If you are not familiar with King Kullen- which, in the old days, was your basic cheap-o low grade supermarket- PLEASE go inside and LOOK at the prices at King Kullen TODAY. They charge top dollar , possibly 10 to 20 % more than Shop Rite, Stop n'Shop, FoodTown etc. Your brain will explode when you see their prices on "basic nothingness" items! I will not be shopping here anymore. King Kullen has ripped me off Soooooooooo many times over the years just because there was "one in town" and it was "walkable". A patron of WBN for many years @ have been noticing many changes & not all positive. This one instance I need to communicate to others because it's so painful & frightening. I found out 2 weeks ago that WBN offers fresh juice for a reasonable price, & being an avid juicer, I wanted to stop by & check out the offering. Looked fine to me so when I'm working late & too busy to juice I decided to stop by WBN and officially try the juice. First time went well I felt good after drinking the juice. Then I went back a few days later & this time about a few hours after, I started feeling poorly. Stomach growling, lightheaded, & decided I must be getting sick. Viruses are out & about this time of year. Being that I'm so health conscious I decided to eat lightly & step back a bit for a day or two. Recovered in about 2 days but not quite. Weekend over & working ...Stopped by WBN for some last minute goodies & decided to try another juicing. About 10 min after I drank the juice I fell violently ill only this time feverish, chills, stomach cramps & dizziness. The juice was definitely tainted. I suggest to be awfully careful when visiting that counter ordering fresh juice. My perception is that it may not be cleaned sufficiently. God Bless. read more

Ok so it's good to have this place in the neighborhood. This being stated- prices are over the top, the deli is good but not good enough. I eat vegan and while there are many choices, there aren't enough--plus they never change. They also should not put the vegan and vegetarian selections right next to chicken legs and beef and fish. Also, if not everything than most things are simply too oily. The cashiers and management are nice people. The worst experience was the vitamin lady. I asked for something and when she showed it to me I just said that it's much cheaper on Amazon. Where I purchase doesn't warrant her to snidely state to me "that's Amazon and nobody should support that business due to its huge corporate status and that it treats employees poorly." What a mouth and how highly inappropriate. Putting a customer in, according to her, a condescending position source of her anger. Awful!!!! read more

I know exactly what to say about Wild by Nature, but I must admit I'm conflicted about how many stars to rate it. Others have said this before me and they are spot-on because it's the simplest way to quickly describe the place to someone who hasn't yet been - Wild By Nature is like a mini, local Whole Foods. By local I mean it's located nearby, not that they prioritize local produce and products, though they do have them, of course. And mini, not as in micro-mini, but definitely smaller than WF and smaller than other local supermarkets. But they do carry everything you need to support a healthy lifestyle from fresh and frozen produce to cheeses, to meats, baked goods, packaged goods, vitamins and supplements, greener household cleaning, and specialty diet fare. Oh, and beer. Vegetarians and vegans, gluten free folks, keto practitioners, macro lovers, and everyone in between ... just about everyone will find what they need here. Unless, I guess, you're primarily looking for frozen dinners from giant mall food chains. Then you may be kind of out of luck. Even I can shop here. I'm a mostly-plant-based pescatarian who tries to shop zero/low waste and package-free as much as possible. This is the only place I know of near Huntington that has a bulk section for grains, beans, and flours, and even coffee. I can even get most produce (yup, even mushrooms!) free of packaging which should be an easier thing to find in general, but it's not. You'd think I would be shouting to the heavens THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE TO SHOP! But I do have to admit I balk at the prices - specifically for the produce. Packaged goods, sure you can get them cheaper elsewhere. Larger stores have bigger buying power. That's no secret. But as someone who mainly goes for produce, I don't shop here every week. When I need to hit the bulk section, I do my entire list here, veggies and all and it's all good. Wild By Nature, you'd get me through the door weekly if you offered even a small section of "ugly veggies", especially local ones, at lower prices. Just a thought. I've yet to visit the deli counter or the juice bar, and I've never attended any of their classes, but they're there if you're interested. Think whole foods but somehow a bit more pompous. The layout is labyrinth like but the selection is good. Beautiful flowers and some fresh produce, though not the freshest. However I was there on a Sunday so maybe I was on a slow day. Employees seemed to wander the front, although my cashier was pretty great and very friendly. They have organic make up and the what have yous. The boy's mother reckons herself a spiritualist healer chem trail lady so she really likes it. I've been here a few times thinking I will get good quality and, knowing it is a "Whole Foods" type store (organic and overpriced items) I decided to give it a try. A carton of regular milk (not organic or anything like it) cost twice as much than the regular grocery store. Price at Wild by Nature for a 1/2 gallon of milk was $3.75. At Waldbaums was $1.80. Yikes!!! In addition, because I was too lazy to drive over to Marty's Seafood (review available), I decided to get Salmon here too. The quality of the fish at Wild by Nature was nowhere near that of Marty's... neither the price! Fresh food items very overpriced too. Rather cook at home. Will save money! Furthermore, read these excerpts from an article found at the "MSNBC webiste" titled "what Organic Really Means?" by Herb Weisbaum: "You know organic has gone mainstream when Wal-Mart starts selling it. In fact, organic products are the fastest growing segment of the agricultural market. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says organic sales jumped 22 percent last year. A growing number of people are willing to pay a premium price to eat what they consider to be superior products and to support farming techniques that are better for the land. But what does "organic" really mean? According to USDA regulations, a product called "100 percent organic" must contain all organic ingredients. I pretty much love everything about Wild by Nature. I am a frequent shopper here and can honestly say that the quality of everything is top notch. The produce is always fresh. Expensive, but fresh. I never need to check to see if the strawberries look okay or if there are too many bruises in the apples. The fruit is always impeccable as are the vegetables. The sushi is always delicious. I tend to opt for a brown rice vegetable roll which is always a safe route, but I have had other rolls with salmon and tuna and they have all been delicious. I bought some guacamole for a family party one time and I couldn't decide between the Organic kind and the store made. I bought both just to test them out. To be honest, the organic kind was inedible and the rest of my family agreed as well. We are big time guacamole eaters and this was just plain nasty. The store made one however was so good that I went back the very next day and bought another container. The deli area has so many options from sandwiches, to salads, to salmon and italian dishes. Did I mention this place was expensive? I think I did but I'll say it again, 12 bucks for almond butter! There is a large selection of coffees and teas which I love. I wish there was a bigger seating area however. I often come here on my lunch break and grab a few things and feel like I'm being watched when I sit at one of the three tables they have set up inside. The seats are right in front of the cash registers, not really a calm, relaxing play to enjoy a meal. I like Wild By Nature. In general, I like small health food stores that offer a decent selection with good hot food. The vegetarian selection of fresh, prepared foods at Wild By Nature leaves much to be desired. The best I can hope for is some brown rice with peas, and a block of tofu. I'd rather not give a national chain Whole Foods (WF) my business, but I do, because they have outstanding hot food, including some Indian dishes I like, and delicious vegetarian and vegan soups. I can't find any of these things so much at Wild By Nature (WBN). Before you say that WF has better selections because they're a big national chain, I've been to some tiny health food stores that have better hot food than WF, so WBN should be able to do better, as well. So if anyone at WBN/ King Kullen corporate is reading this, please keep this in mind. I want your stores to perform better than WF. read more

'Salight. There are some specialized health-food items I have to come here to buy because I can't find them in any of the 'mainstream' supermarkets, such as vegan chicken salad sandwiches from Natural Power-Fu. These sandwiches are amazing (next to the sushi section) and like finding a needle in a haystack elsewhere. I load up on 4-5 every time I go. Similar items like Beyond Sausage and Burgers, vegan cheeses and spreads are available. They also have health products like spirulina or maca or raw cacao that you can't find in regular supermarkets, plus an assortment of Vitamin-Shoppe things like protein powders, also organic makeup and hygeine products. The problem with the store is that items are grossly overpriced. You can find many of the items elsewhere for a much cheaper price, especially the vegetables. So I would suggest getting your fruits and veggies elsewhere to save money, and then buy the more specialty items here. ANother point: product doesn't seem to move quickly here, so a few times I've purchased expired food. Check the dates. read more

I always have the most odd encounters with strangers at this store. Every time! I do love this store though....I think its slightly cheaper than whole foods. They carry the things I need to get the meal on the table. Daiya- cheddar and now mozzarella! did someone say pizza time!? Nutritional yeast by the bulk and its super cheap. The only reason I didn't give this place 1 star is because I believe in the health conscious movement and appreciate what this store is bringing to the town. However, I had a disturbing experience with an employee that cannot be ignored. First off, before entering the store he was standing out side with a friend (may or not been an employee) speaking in an offensive way, though not directed at me I felt very uncomfortable. Then as I was shopping, they were walking through the isles eating nuts and throwing them onto the shelves. My friend and I quickly notified the manager of the unprofessional behavior, only to be mocked and intimated by the same employee upon leaving the store. I shop at Wild by Nature for a specific products since they are a cut above what is available at a "regular' supermarket. Though too pricey for general weekly food shopping I buy all my free range poultry, boneless chicken thighs, sausages, store made peanut butter, baked snack foods and the occasional roasted chicken here. I'm also able to special order specific foods unlike a traditional supermarket. They have a wonderful fresh cut flower assortment which rivals many local florists with their freshness and I can realiably pick up a ready made bouquet on the way to a friend's home for dinner. They have an extensive assortment of prepared meals which seem to be mostly vegetarian. There is a good turnover for food and there is always good activity at the counter. I can't comment on the taste since I enjoy cooking and rarely buy take-out (except for the aforementioned roasted chicken.) The store is very clean and the produce is always fresh. I always enjoyed their smaller sized shopping carts since they felt more "gourmet" but they've just joined the rest of the supermarkets in the size of their carts. Overpriced, stale bakery, wilted produce (don't use the bathrooms downstairs lol) and one time the Manager was even rude to me! I asked him what some item for sale near the front entrance was and he barked: "WHAT DO YOU MEAN?, IT'S A PLANT! (for sale)" (that much I figured out lol) Often times their "conventional" (non-organic items) are WAY More expensive than Shop-Rite etc, like TWICE as expensive. Wild By Nature is very similar to Whole Foods, although not as large. Everything that they carry is for the health conscious consumer. Organic produce, organic meats, gluten-free products, a wide array of juices other exotic ingredients that you may not find in a typical supermarket, etc. It's a very nice market, always very clean and well stocked. My only complaint about it is that some items can be a little pricey. read more

I won't shop anywhere else for the most part..with that said..their fish is way expensive, but being I'm a vegan, who cares what it costs : ) and a lot of their fresh veggies are way expensive, organic, and not, but everything else is very reasonable for what you're getting. Maybe it's a hair expensive, but not by a lot. You usually get what you pay for, and being it's going into my body I think I'm worth the few extra bucks. Customer service was extremely rude. The manager was yelling at an employee when I was inside. All the cashiers were talking/ cursing and completely ignored me while I was on line. Pretty pricy, but expected for an organic store. Overall, manager and staff: rude!!! Food: it was alright. Honestly though, not worth it. Love shopping here for organic produce, I enjoy the soups they have too. The vegan sandwiches were just awful though. Not a huge fan of their pre made sandwiches. Wish there was more options for lunch. I also bought a lot of essential oils from there and was very happy with them. Employees could be friendlier.. That's why I give 4 stars read more
