The original location is in Deer Park and this one was opened a few years ago. They have great Italian imports from coffees to olives to freshly made deli items and produce. The variety of foods in their deli case include a dozen cuts of steaks, different salads, and different homemade dishes. There's few places in life better than an Italian food market and this one hits the spot. They have such a variety of groceries, pastas, and meats, but I went straight to the bakery section. They have a huge variety of fresh Italian cookies. I got the rainbow cookies, pignolia cookies, and cannolis and we scarfed each of them down. They were delicious! My favorite this from here is their prosciutto bread. They were out of the one from the bakery section but had some in the fridge. We heated them in the oven and it was just as good and only about $6-7 for each. Highly recommend! read more

I told my family when we fly to Florida, I'll first swing by Salpino's in Wantagh and get my favorite sandwich for us, the Son of a Peach sandwich. My brother in law tells me, they opened a place called Pino's in Dix Hills! Nah, can't be the place. Sure enough, "Pino's" is the new location of Salpino's in Dix Hills! Is it really Dix Hills? It's so close to Huntington and my wife went to walt whitman high school. This stripmall back in the day, my father in law would get bagels and the NY Times every Sunday. To have this beautiful market in the old Pathmark spot warms my heart. We swung by on a Saturday to check out the new digs. The new location is big, there's a large deli counter, bakery section and meat department making homemade sausages. My wife starts shopping and zeros in on a few items like fresh lamb sausages? I see frozen pizzas from Italy (that's on sale) and grab two for late nite snacks with my sons. I order at the deli two heroes, Son of a Peach and the The Crispy Caprese sandwich. The counterperson tells me, its going to take a while to prep, he has to fry the tomatoes. I'm not in a rush, take your time young man! While we're waiting, another deli guy tells us to try the pastrami at the other end of the counter. He's slicing it up now. Be still my heart. The pastrami? Man.. I loved it. I was just at Katz (They used my picture on Yelp for a few months), there's no need to make a comparison. It's an Italian deli. I think the pastrami was very good and we brought a nice amount home. Interesting, I was told Mr. Salpino himself was slicing the pastrami?? I just dig that, my dad owned a supermarket in the Hamptons and I know how proud he's feeling opening a new location. Back to sandwiches! Son of a Peach sandwich? 10 Yelp stars. packed with Prosciutto, arugula, burrata, Sicilian peaches and finished with a hot honey drizzle. It's by far my favorite sandwich. The Crispy Caprese sandwich, breaded and fried mozzarella and breaded and fried tomatoes with a pesto drizzle. My wife and I each take a bite, wow. Just wow. Killer sandwich and here's something I have to mention. Pino's is using quality ingredients, that's why their sandwiches pop. My niece is home from college, I picked up dessert for the night at the bakery section. Lobster tails stuffed, each stuffed with cannoli cream, pistachio cream and custard. C'mom now! so soo good! Beautiful new location of Salpino's in Dix Hills! The inside is bright, clean, fresh and inviting. Tons of the typical Italian market specialties you've come to expect from the other two locations. Price point is high, but so is quality. They were still doing a soft opening when I visited, so service was a little slow, but it was worth the wait! Grabbed the Son of a Peach sandwich for lunch. Prosciutto, arugula, burrata, peaches and hot honey. Talk about amazing flavors that compliment each other! I will definitely be going back for this one. Sandwich was decent sized for the price. I'm really hoping veal will be available soon; yours is the best, and I've told everyone about it! I also tried the new fresh pasta--absolutely delicious. The bakery's Napoleon was packed with rich, creamy filling and tasted amazing. The fruits and vegetables are always fresh and beautifully displayed. This place looks like just another grocery store, but it is anything but that. I went on a Sunday around noon and this place was buzzing, 20 people deep at the deli and 10 deep at the bakery. The people working knew regular customers by name and their orders saying, "See you next week." The amount of prepared Italian staples was overwhelming. I came for the "Son of a Peach" sandwich and Pistachio lobster tail pastry. I left with an additional Pistachio tiramisu and their "famous potato salad". The sandwich was perfect! The peaches and hot honey give it just a touch of sweetness and the prosciutto was melting in my mouth. And the bread- let's just say they were baking bread while I was there and it tasted liked I hoped. It was super fresh and had the perfect crust sound. IYKYK. The potato salad tasted just like my grandmother's and I have tried and tried to replicate it and can't. It was the best I've had since having her decades ago. Now, for the pastries- the tiramisu left me speechless. I was so surprised how good it was. The lobster tail was perfectly flaky, crisp, and buttery. And the best part was that it was jam packed with pistachio cream. *One thing to note is this must be eaten day of or the pastry loses its crispy texture. It's still delicious the next day but the texture is best the day of purchase. The staff were lovely and the people waiting felt like my neighbors I had yet to meet. It was an odd feeling in the best sort of way. I will definitely be going back for these items and to try many more. read more

I had no idea that there was a Dix Hill's location. My husband and I used to provide plumbing service to Pinos in Deer Park. The food they're always looked beautiful and fresh and when we would purchase from there, it was always delicious !! the Dix Hills location is absolutely beautiful. It's bright and clean and the variety is amazing. Threw a small little birthday celebration for my daughter and a couple of her friends I ordered the dinner special. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything came in trays so It was easy to serve. Rosalie who took my order on the phone was really nice and she really cared and wanted to make sure everything was correct. Not a good experience with my order for food at PINOS. order a dinner special that they had advertised in the local papers and had a coupon for in the local coupon Book drove all the way there stood online for 20 minutes while I waited for them to be able to take care of me and then when saidI I wanted that dinner they told me no.. it's a holiday. We're not doing that today. if they were going to do such a thing the coupon should've had an exclusion not available on this date or that date . I've been in before it's not like I was a new shopper. I went to go see the manager and I found one at the front cash registers. He told me that he agreed with me 100% that the ad is misleading and that he doesn't write the ad so there's nothing he can do about that. Only the owner writes the ad personally I think it was and rude And inconsiderate. I wound up next-door in Sputinos that's the restaurant next-door and ordered food. Since only the owner places to advertisement and is not out on the floor, the only way I can let Him Understand My displeasure is to let people know what happened and why I think it was inconsiderate. My sister has been going on and on about this place and convinced me to try their three course dinner special. I ordered it and when I got there to pick it up, it wasn't there. I had called their north Babylon location by mistake! These saints didn't skip a beat and immediately had one of their workers in N. Babylon drive it all the way to Huntington For me. Staff was extremely helpful, especially the Butcher, where I inquired if they had Hot Sausage Patties stuffed with Parsley & Cheese & he said that they didn't have but would make them up for me in just a few minutes.
