I know exactly what to say about Wild by Nature, but I must admit I'm conflicted about how many…read morestars to rate it. Others have said this before me and they are spot-on because it's the simplest way to quickly describe the place to someone who hasn't yet been - Wild By Nature is like a mini, local Whole Foods. By local I mean it's located nearby, not that they prioritize local produce and products, though they do have them, of course. And mini, not as in micro-mini, but definitely smaller than WF and smaller than other local supermarkets. But they do carry everything you need to support a healthy lifestyle from fresh and frozen produce to cheeses, to meats, baked goods, packaged goods, vitamins and supplements, greener household cleaning, and specialty diet fare. Oh, and beer. Vegetarians and vegans, gluten free folks, keto practitioners, macro lovers, and everyone in between ... just about everyone will find what they need here. Unless, I guess, you're primarily looking for frozen dinners from giant mall food chains. Then you may be kind of out of luck. Even I can shop here. I'm a mostly-plant-based pescatarian who tries to shop zero/low waste and package-free as much as possible. This is the only place I know of near Huntington that has a bulk section for grains, beans, and flours, and even coffee. I can even get most produce (yup, even mushrooms!) free of packaging which should be an easier thing to find in general, but it's not. You'd think I would be shouting to the heavens THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE TO SHOP! But I do have to admit I balk at the prices - specifically for the produce. Packaged goods, sure you can get them cheaper elsewhere. Larger stores have bigger buying power. That's no secret. But as someone who mainly goes for produce, I don't shop here every week. When I need to hit the bulk section, I do my entire list here, veggies and all and it's all good. Wild By Nature, you'd get me through the door weekly if you offered even a small section of "ugly veggies", especially local ones, at lower prices. Just a thought. I've yet to visit the deli counter or the juice bar, and I've never attended any of their classes, but they're there if you're interested. That and prices aside, I am happy they're in town and I'd be sad if they weren't. So there's that.

This Whole Foods Market location is in Huntington Shopping Center and there are plenty of parking spots. I came to return an Amazon item for free, without needing a box or label. I selected Whole Foods Dropoff when I started the return process online on Amazon. When I arrived at Whole Foods Market, the Amazon Customer Service desk for Pickup and Returns is to the right. I showed the staff member my QR code and they processed the item. The same day, I got my refund. This was a convenient and seamless process. Since I was already at Whole Foods Market, I had to walk around. The layout is very spacious. All the shelves were well stocked and staff were available.

The butchers here are experienced and take care in how they prepare the meat. The Whole Foods website also notes that their meats contain no antibiotics, added hormones, or radiation, which gives me peace of mind. One of my favorite things is that they do custom cuts, which is perfect for me as a single shopper. I love lamb, and they'll cut a leg of lamb into several portions and package them separately so I can pull out one chop at a time from the freezer. They'll even slice chicken breasts into strips so I can make homemade fajitas without extra prep work. They also grind beef fresh for me, which always impresses my guests at summer BBQs. Whole Foods offers USDA Prime, Choice, and Select meats--I prefer Prime and Choice because the marbling gives them much better flavor. Considering the quality, I find the prices for meat and poultry here reasonable. On top of that, my Amazon Prime membership gives me extra perks like 10% off sale items. I also like the convenience of paying with the palm scanner that links right to my debit card. The only negative is that this location (Melville) isn't as big as some others on Long Island, but it's the closest one to me, so I do not have to drive far to get quality meat and poultry.
