John's Farms is the areas direct line from NYC's seafood and produce points to Plainview. Its all hustle and bustle and super fast turnover of the freshest seafood, deli and ready to eat produce on the Island. Tucked into a small strip center on Old Country Rd, just west of Rt. 135, and easy stop off for anyone travelling near that or the LIE. Just drop down. You will see too many cars and wonder if you should drive into the busy parking lot. Everyone being patient as parking spots open up within a minute or so. But not often an empty one. Lol! Inside what was once a small fresh produce / fish market / deli has evolved most recently to having hot food right up front and also some super delicious bread in from Brooklyn, They also have bakery in from Francesco's so cookies, cake all there at the front to grab and go. The deli and seafood counters, you take a number, Saturday afternoons are the busiest so pick a mid week, or go early or late if time is key. Otherwise, just enjoy the best selection of seafood, deli that is always Long Island's freshest. Super values on grapes, tomatoes, berries, and all produce. Fruit is often ready to eat the same week. So don't let it sit. Imported Italian Cheese (sharp provolone) Deli (soppressata), Panettone, even Italian chocolate, candy, cookies at Christmas and Easter are here. They are in the window by the registers, so you sometimes have to run over while on line to get them.. it causes delays when I am on line and see new Panettones. Lol! At holiday time, I bring them to friends/family. They are an odd, somewhat dry spongy cake with different flavors, chocolate, lemon, hazelnut, or plain. They become a habit. If you really want to score a hit with sandwiches, grab a huge over-sized Italian Bastone bread in from Brooklyn, and a jar of roasted peppers to add to your deli items. Everyone asks me to get that bread again. And I do! If its there. Squeeze to see which is freshest.. they last only a few days. Use right away. Delicious Italian herbal tea can be found on the shelves at the bottom by the deli. An olive bar is near the deli. Number one, is the wild caught shrimp, jumbo shrimp, wild caught salmon, sea bass, wild caught anything else. Its there read the labels for which is which. Catfish sometimes appears and goes fast. Bluefish, Mussels, Clams, Scallops sea and bay sized, etc. They have flounder rolled with seafood stuffing you can just cover and bake easily. My mother gets her spring plants here every new season. Rows of colorful flowering plants even some tomato plants to kick off the season. She usually gets extra and gives a few to me or the neighbors.

This place is AMAZING! Fcuk Keyfood..Stop & Shop..Wholefoods..Skyfoods.. LOL This is my go-to supermarket for CHEAP but FRESH seafood, meats, etc.. For me, living in Bayside, it's a drive. Not gonna lie, a good 20-25 min drive, depending on traffic conditions. But sh!t, it's well worth the trek. Whoever gave this place less than 3 stars.. Sorry I'm not sorry, nothing personal, but you guys are ABSOLUTE TROLLS. A family friend took me here for the first time in January and my parents and I have been coming here, pretty much every 1-2 weeks to restock on meats, seafood, veggies and fruits, dairy products, etc. And every time I come, I buy stuff in bulk. My shopping cart is almost always piled with groceries! (I'm sure everyone else mentioned this already, but bring a quarter for the shopping carts) The meat and seafood sections are probably my 2 favorite ones at this point. Currently $3.99/lb for Top Sirloin Steaks, $1.69/lb for Chicken Thighs.. Jumbo Shrimps (16-20) $8.99/lb, Codfish steaks for $5.99/lb.. Get outta here with these low prices! I don't care that the aisles are tight, and that during rush hours you might need to shove your way into the veggie and fruit sections.. I don't care that I have pay 25 cents for a cart. I don't care about going through the produce sometimes, to get the best quality veggies and fruits. I don't care that this place only takes cash or debit cards.. If you care about all that small stuff, by all means, go to Wholefoods and Fairway and other premium supermarkets and pay $10 for 3 apples or $5.99 for a gallon of milk.. -_-" For me.. John's Farms is where it's at. Hands down, the best deals for the freshest products, anywhere in Queens and Long Island.

I used it today and the beef tenderloin to make my first attempt at Beef Wellington. The tenderloin was great and worked well with the Wellington. I would come here again if I were around Merrick.

After being disappointed with the selection of meat at my local supermarket I decided to check them out. When I entered the store I was immediately impressed by how clean and well organized it is, and Dave's guitar selection adds to the homey eclectic ambiance. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and they'll accommodate customer preferences. After looking around I decided to purchase a rack of lamb, 2 pieces of wild salmon and cooked chicken fingers. Everything was top quality prime, fresh and scrumptious. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that Suburbia's prices are on par with local supermarkets for much better quality. You can't go wrong! Nuts & Bolts: Suburbia currently offers curbside pickup, delivery and in-store shopping with strict social distancing and a max of 3 customers allowed in at once. They're open 6 days/week (closed Wednesdays) at convenient hours with early opening times (7:30 as of this writing). There's parking on the street and a side lot. So happy to carry on the family tradition of shopping at Suburbia, a cool locally owned small business. I plan to be a regular going forward.
