My Mom used to shop at Suburbia Prime Meats. I remember her telling me that the owner David Feldman is a wonderful guy who personally delivered her small orders to her home several miles away. After being disappointed with the selection of meat at my local supermarket I decided to check them out. When I entered the store I was immediately impressed by how clean and well organized it is, and Dave's guitar selection adds to the homey eclectic ambiance. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and they'll accommodate customer preferences. After looking around I decided to purchase a rack of lamb, 2 pieces of wild salmon and cooked chicken fingers. Everything was top quality prime, fresh and scrumptious. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that Suburbia's prices are on par with local supermarkets for much better quality. You can't go wrong! Nuts & Bolts: Suburbia currently offers curbside pickup, delivery and in-store shopping with strict social distancing and a max of 3 customers allowed in at once. They're open 6 days/week (closed Wednesdays) at convenient hours with early opening times (7:30 as of this writing). There's parking on the street and a side lot. So happy to carry on the family tradition of shopping at Suburbia, a cool locally owned small business. I plan to be a regular going forward. read more

The team here is nothing but professionals. They got it all, or will get it for you. Retail shop has some nice stuff and everything is super clean. Take a look at this brisket that was butchered to perfection. And also perfectly smoked in my vertical smoker for Passover. And good hours on weekends! I've been coming to Suburbia now for years. Dave and (completing blanking on his name) have always done well by me. Food and customer service have been top notch. During COVID they have been shutting down twice a week to clean. They were always clean, but we appreciate that they take it next level during these odd times. They generally have what we need on hand, if I need a specialty item I give them a call on Tuesday or Thursday and they'll have it for me by the weekend. The recent one star review is puzzling, that person must have been in a different store, or not wearing a mask. If you want good food, a good butcher and good service go down the road to A&S. I walked into suburbia asking for top sirloin sliced and was told, "I don't have any right now because I already cut them, i I don't really want to cut anymore steaks." No offer of an alternative. No suggestions. Nothing. Just a blank dumb stare. No worries. A&S was awesome. It was like driving down the block and walking into a Brooklyn butcher. You can keep the south Merrick attitude. Thanksgiving success. Not everyone likes turkey so I also prepare a meat on Thanksgiving. I told Dave I was thinking about smoking a leg of lamb. He said, "Low & Slow, I love it. Say no more. When do you want to pick it up?" It was cold outside on Thanksgiving but I followed Dave's advise about smoking and my Traeger Smoker worked well. After purchasing chicken cutlets I returned home to discover meat was very sticky and felt it was not fresh. It's my understanding it is not good when it's very sticky on your hands. I went back and nicely asked if I could return it. The butcher said it's fine and my response was I'm sorry I'd just like to return it. When I approached the register a man came charging out like a pit bull screaming at me not to ever come in his store and say his product is bad. I was shocked how rude he was and said I had spent a lot of money there and there was no excuse to speak to me that way and that I certainly would never be back. I've since learned his name is Dave, and he should not praise his work with rock stars if he treats his regular customers so poorly. Their meat is good but on the expensive side. I'm writing this review because they have no sense of courtesy for their customers. I stopped in to pick up some meat for my family before our camping trip the next day. It was about 8:30 am, and I understand that's earlier than standard business hours, so I checked their hours on google before I went. It indicated they were open from 7:00 am. I pulled into the parking lot walked over to the front and say a big prominent "OPEN" sign hanging in the front window. The door was locked but I saw someone inside so I knocked. Immediately, the owner rushed over to the locked door and screamed at me "we open at 9:00 ! Don't you see the sign ?!" I said "I see the sign" posting to the OPEN sign in the window. "No ! 9:00 !" he yelled again. I noticed then that he was pointing to a much smaller sign in the window that listed, the store weekly hours and, indeed, indicated that the store opened at 9:00. What I'm annoyed about was the compete lack of courtesy and class displayed by the owner during this encounter, yelling at me through the door in a fairly derisive and dismissive manner. You lost a fairly regular customer. read more

i bought 2 tomahawk steaks from suburbia. i got to my house to grill them and realized i got ripped off. i took them to another local butcher and he told me these are the thinest cut i have ever seen, there was no tomahawk bone, he had also said they were very fatty. the buther found out the price i paid and asked me how thats possible, i didnt know i dont know that much about steaks, ive always wanted to try a tomahawk steak. he said i was ripped off and lied to. he saw i was upset because i really believed the butcher in suburbia. he asked me to hold on a second. he handed me to tomahawk steaks and said i hope you enjoy them, i said how much do i owe you, he said nothing, just remember not all butchers are liers and want to rip off our customers. i was tearing, i said i promise you ill be payng it forward!!! thanks to him i had the best steak! as for suburbia, ill never go there again and ill be telling this story to all my friends. f/u suburbia read more

Suburbia is the best! There is a noticeable difference in the quality of the meat. I just moved back from the city and get meat there for every special occasion as we did when I was a kid growing up in Bellmore. I remember going with my mom and helping to pick out what I wanted for Sunday dinner. Of course it's more money than the supermarket but that's because the meat is a better quality and more flavorful. The staff is incredibly helpful and will happily advise you on how much you need when you tell them how many guests etc. One time, owner David made a delivery for us on his way home since the delivery guy had left already. You don't get that kind of service anymore unfortunately. I highly recommend this "old school" neighborhood butcher. read more
