Fall is my favorite time to be here, the pumpkin is real!!!! I recommend their pumpkin brioche, OMG! If you're not making French toast with this stuff, you're missing out! Staff is always helpful and friendly, if you can't find something they are quick to help you look for it, or help you find out when a shipment is coming in. Saddens me to write this review. Pesty customers, I half expect to encounter, but more and more I am finding the employees are that way too. Blocking the aisles with carts full of items to unpack seems to be more and more common. This evening was the topper. I am standing in front of the shelves with the nuts and dried fruit. Along comes a worker wearing a mask and plops the box she is unpacking right in front of me, blocking my view and preventing me from even seeing what is on the shelf. Unbelievable. read more

Wow this is a very small very disorganized store. Looking for O's cereal either the strawberry O or pumpkin O. While there was a tiny cereal section, no Os to be found. When I asked I was told rudely "just look around they could be anywhere in here." I asked a second associate and she was a little nicer however she said she thought maybe with the pumpkin stuff so check all the endcaps. She said she didnt know which. I didn't find any Os but I am giving a pumpkin oatmeal a try. I also purchased some small overpriced maple marshmallows which intrigued me. The man at check out was nicer than the people working the floor. He said the store is probably out of things I was looking for and that they haven't restocked recently. I come here for all of my staple items and specialty snacks... most recently, my new obsessions are the: artichoke timbales, havarti dill cheese, minty chocolate covered shortbread cookies, bruschetta sauce ,and their speculoos cookie butter! I could eat the artichoke timbales all day.. with eggs, plain, over salad...the best. If you love dill, just go get this delicious block, you're welcome. The cookies are likely just gonna be around for the holiday season so snag them while u can.. the bruschetta sauce is phenom! And I've been using the cookie butter on rice cakes and in smoothies ! It gets crowded in here and the parking lot sucks but everyone in the store is super helpful and they are always stocked! Obv, during covid... it was grim.. but they're Gucci now. It is always a pleasure to shop at Trader Joe's despite the challenge of the times. This TJ's has accepted that challenge and ran with it to provide their customers with the best products they want at reasonable prices, all with a smile. This might be a trek for us, but if we're doing other shopping in the area, I will make it a point to come here. The Trader Joe's private label brand predominates the store, from a variety of breakfast cereals to pizza & beer to Kung Pao Chicken. That's why they're not pressured by vendors to push their brands onto limited shelf space and keep prices reasonable. I feel their products are geared towards young families & professionals that don't have a lot of time cooking and preparing meals and need that fast dinner on the table when they come home from work. That's why you'll find packages of Linguine with White Clam Sauce, Chicken Tikka Masala and Bibimbap next to your frozen TJ's Pizza, Pancakes and Pot Pies. It's all about the convenience. We always head to the fresh produce first to grab 19¢ bananas and 69¢ Fuji apples. Then onto the fresh prepared foods section. The variety of single serving Spinach Salad, Southwest Salad and Caesars Salad (with or without chicken) are our favorites. How about a couple of Chicken Sausage Breakfast Burrito? OK. If you feel like doing some light cooking or even a full-blown 4 course meal, TJ's can help with that. I like to get pre-marinated meats like the Lemon-Herb Spatchcocked Chicken, Beef Bulgogi or Chicken Shawarma that are packaged to be kept refrigerated for a while and ready to pop in the oven or frying pan. Roast, stir-fry or blanch some vegetables and dinner is served. During the recent COVID-19 pandemic, this store has adopted practices to keep their customers safe and I commend them. I'm not surprised because Trader Joe's has always had the best service. We had been here once before the pandemic and the changes are drastic. To keep the number of customers in the store at a safe, manageable level, a waiting line to enter the store with spaced markings on the sidewalk is managed by staff outside the store to inform customers of the safety policies. No reusable shopping bags are allowed and paper bags are provided at no charge (at least during this period), which they will pack for you. There are even associates disinfecting shopping carts in the parking lot before you take them in. Inside, the aisles are set up to be one-way in & out only (like IKEA & Stew Leonard's) and you're not allowed to backtrack to pick up stuff you missed. If you did forget something, ask an associate and they will bring it to you at check-out. The level of service and positive attitudes by the employees reflect well on the management of Trader Joe's. read more

I love this renovated Trader Joe's. It's busy and had a real culture there which is hot to be discontinued, like Whole Foods used to have. The produce is fresh and seems alot cheaper than Whole Foods with quality goods and new products all the time like the new waffle fries are tasty. Even in this age of inflation, we were able to snag great prices when buying Trader Joe's products. The falafel was great and heated well.The Hawaiian buns,not as good to me as the "common brand"..too sweet the texture was super firm.Would be great for sliders though. Love their selections of snacks. I like that everything is in small portions. The people who work here are always super friendly! I love that the products change and there is something new and exciting to try. I also love that they sample products. I have bought some many products I would have never got if it wasn't for those little samples! Overall, lines can't get long but they move pretty fast. So my favorites from TJ that we buy on a regular occasion are: French flatbread with onion, ham and gruyere cheese Sweet potato gnocchi Cauliflower gratin (tastes just like Mac and cheese) Alfredo pasta Everything but the bagel seasoning Tortilla chips with flax seed Their dips and salsa All types of cheese (too many to list) Apple ciders/rose cider Fresh Chicken/fish/steaks are always good quality All sweets are amazing too. We love the cookie butter cookies, dunkers and dark chocolate peanut butter cups! Sauces- love the truffle Alfredo! Balsamic glaze! My hubby likes their burritos (breakfast and chicken)- I'm not a fan. The meats inside taste too fake and processed. Nuts... the sesame honey almonds are addicting! Flowers Veggies but always check the expiration date because their stuff goes bad quickly. Make sure to check the expiration date. It's not uncommon for them to have stuff out that's about to expire the next day or already is expired. Also don't forget to bring your own bags because their paper bags are horrible. Groceries. This is my favorite T.J.'s location for nostalgia sake as this was one of the first ones to open in the Suffolk county. At the time I was living in Huntington and my girlfriend was very familiar with Trader Joe's after having lived out in CA for some time. I guess you could say I lost my Trader Joe's cherry here.... It's Trader J's! What's not to love? I am somewhat bewildered that no matter what time I go, 9am on a Monday or 6pm on a Sunday, it's always super crowded. But, that's okay with me. The lines always move relatively quickly and they always have samples out in the back. Today was Vermont cheddar and Brie cheese on wheat crackers with apple cider. Yum! Always on my shopping list: Avocados ($3.49/4) Penne Arrabiata in the frozen foods section ($2.99) Spicy Hummus ($2.99) Reduced Guilt Pita Chips ($1.99) Baked Lentil Chips ($2.29) Frozen Mangoes ($2.69) Light String Cheese ($3.99) Applegate Smoked Turkey ($3.99) Also a fav, great selection of pita breads - try the chile lime habanero. And fabulous selection of seasonal pumpkin beers, which you can buy singles of. I picked up some pumpkin butter today, and have a box of pumpkin bread ready to be baked. TJ's is a great place to get wholesome, organic food for a good price. I can't do ALL my shopping here, but most of it. If you bring your own bag, you get entered to win a free $25 gift card. Visit Date: March 29, 2015 I love all Trader Joe's but I wish there were more on Long Island. Luckily there's one very close to my job in Hewlett but this Trader Joe's is the closest to Babylon. When I came here to do my grocery shopping it was very crowded. I think Sunday is grocery shopping day for half of Long Island. Despite the crowds my experience was pleasant. The staff was helpful and the selection was great! I got to make my dinner this week interesting with different flavor raviolis for hubby and I. The selection of cheese here was amazing, I wanted to buy all of the cheese! Despite the people coming here to shop in droves I didn't have to wait on the line to long before I got to pay for my groceries and get away from the madness. Trader Joe's is also so cheap! I got a ton of groceries for $75, which doesn't happen at any other grocery store on Long Island besides Aldi. read more

I had to make a trip to Trader Joe's but with my work schedule & how far I am from the Lake Grove location, it only works out to go on the weekend which is a NIGHTMARE. I was especially dreading a trip there with two new restaurants in the same parking lot that was already a disaster to navigate through. So, I decided to check out the Commack location on a Saturday afternoon and IT. WAS. AMAZING. Maybe it was a fluke. Maybe everyone was at the beach, I don't know. Parking was a breeze. The store is a little bigger & it wasn't crowded, at all. No crazy lines stretching to the food shelves. Even my boyfriend commented on how stress-free the trip was & that he'd have no problem going on the weekends if it was always like that. I'll have to see how it goes on another weekend trip to see if we were just lucky - but for now, five stars! Cashier was very nice, too. I found everything I was looking for & the employees were out there actively stocking the shelves. read more

We do love Trader Joe's and this location is OK. It is improving hence the 3 stars instead of 1. During the past year with the pandemic there had been a lot of chaos everywhere in stores, totally understandable. But this store in particular added more fuel to the fire with the screaming, flag waving and directing of where you can walk once in the store (this after waiting almost 40 outside on line). The last straw for us was witnessing an elderly woman being yelled at about walking in the wrong direction. After that we nicknamed it the Nazi Trader Joe's and went to another couple of locations. We did not experience this at the other locations. Sure, there were lines, no issue. But, the screaming and waving flags the way it happened here was not happening. We have since returned to this one and it seems to be getting much better. I hope they realized how much stress and discomfort they caused the customers and corrected it. It is usually a very nice store and the pandemic has been difficult for everyone. There are some nice people working there. read more

Yesterday my daughter and I went in to Trader Joe's in Commack to stock our fridge and it was packed in the store, check out lines all the way to the back of the store, but unlike other stores we've been to this week..they were constantly restocking shelves, helping is find whatever we were looking for and asking people on line if they had found everything they came into the store for. If anyone said no, they asked what they were missing, then told them to stay on line while they went and found the item and brought it to them. The feeling in the store was not one of stress or fear like it is in most other stores now as everyone is franticly trying to stock up for an emergency. All of the employees were up beat, greeting everyone happily and going above and beyond to make our shopping experience easier. Thanks to Krystal and all of the employees at Trader Joe's in Commack. The best. Been comin here for years and then stopped the past months due to, "stay at home" COVID stuff. Came back today. What a godsend! Totally organized, prepared, prepped, precautious and immaculate. Pleasant, informed, thoughtful workers who greet and converse with you genuinely, not with forced smiles or disinterested scowls like other spots. Well stocked with everything. Didn't notice one item out! Prices were half or a third of what I was getting robbed shopping online for. Trader Joe's is the best. Next time you're at a regular supermarket, just glance around at the clientele- obese, wheezing, angry, bad skin etc....... Well...it's Trader freaking Joe's!! It's exactly as good as the one I worked at in Indiana, the two I shopped at in Indiana, the one I shopped at in California. Everyone is perfectly trained, works very hard, is really knowledgeable and pleasant, and these things make the place tick over like a finely-made Swiss watch. The returns policy is perfection. And the products are always the curated best of their kind. I can't begin to list my favorite products. Let's just say I always go in for two items but take in 3 empty bags, just in case. It's fantastic. I fill my standing freezer after every trip. I treat myself to tiny foods because they have so many excellent hors d'oeuvres. And their peppercorn blend rocks my world. No, I can't pick a favorite, but OK, one word: cheese. read more

At this location sometimes the cashier will help you bag and be nice, sometimes they'll throw your stuff around and not bag a thing for you...sometimes yoga/soccer moms assume you work there (for some reason) and then sigh when you tell them you are just shopping and in fact actually don't work here (on more than one occasion). Extremely good store in Commack. Well stocked, busy, but a good store should be. What I found was the items were very reasonable in the store. One employee took the time to go into the back to find a certain cheese I wanted that was not on display. The hamburger meat is excellent, as is the fresh pizza dough. I was a regular customer and visited 1-2 week because I only consume organic products and they carry a good selection. During vivid it has gotten more and more stressful to shop there. Lines are 10-45 min long no matter the time of the morning. I need to go in the morning because TJ has very few organic produce after 12noon. The also have a very stressful environment in the store with a bunch of army drill sergeants directing traffic. I started stretching my weekly trip to every other week , to every 3 weeks to completely stopping until this TJ craziness is done with. I refuse to that stress while spending a few hundred dollars in a store. read more

During the Covid-19 pandemic, this store adopted a comprehensive set of standards designed to protect its customers and employees. I have found that these standards can vary greatly among the different Trader Joe's locations. At the Commack store, they have implemented one way aisles, six foot separation, sanitizing shopping carts and credit card touch screens, and limiting the occupancy of their store. In addition to providing a relatively safe shopping experience, the staff has been personable and helpful. read more

Great new space, bigger than the last TJs that was down the road. Lines are always so manageable here, but then again, my baseline are the TJs in the city (UWS, Chelsea) where the line snakes around the entire store. But really, there's usually like one maybe 2 people in front of me in line here, weekdays or weekends. Tons of fresh produce, quick meal ideas and seasonal items. Love the sample meal area, it always gives me good ideas for meals/side dishes. Today was kale slaw with spicy peanut sauce, mandarin oranges and crushed peanuts. Yum! I got all the ingredients.
