The only supermarket that refuses to put hand baskets out even though I asked numerous times. Nothing is ever restocked and the prices are a lot higher than other supermarkets around. I have never seen more than one check out lane open even at peak times. I recently started driving a bit further to another supermarket that does have hand baskets for the times you only need a few things and I wish I changed sooner because I'm saving an average of $40-$60 each trip for the exact same items. read more

I went over to the Commack Super Stop and Shop last Sunday as I needed a reprinted receipt for an Apple gift card issue. Staff was unable to assist in the reprint (obviously needed additional training and lacking in empathy) and kept repeating they did their part of the transaction and I was scammed by Apple (first time ever in 20 years). They took my information to pass along to their manager Kathleen to call me back.the following day. I knew I would never hear back from anyone at the store as when they took my information I knew that note would end up lost/tossed in the garbage. Customer support was non existent. Luckily I proactively contacted corporate and they were able to immediately assist me while waiting for Kathleen to respond (a week later never did). It's an adequate super market in regard to price and inventory but if you need any assistance consider yourself warned. This one is a pretty large Stop & Shop that is very clean and fully stocked. They also have some great sale items that come out every week. No long lines at the cash register and all of their fruit vegetables and meat a very fresh. I would definitely do my shopping there again read more

Service here sucks. Managers need more training on how to handle simple transactions. They also need training on how to treat customers. I wanted to process an $8 transaction and this lady gave me attitude from the start. I showed them a picture of the item that couldn't be scanned as well as items of equal value. Still no help and more attitude. Your one job is to help customers, process transactions, and be the lead on how to handle situations that come from being a Stop&Shop Store Manager. She clearly can't respect those around her and being a manager has gone to her head. Her poor cashier was willing to help me, was way more respectful and NOT judgmental. I wish I got her name so that my review is more accurate. If your manager can't help me, I might as well go to Shoprite on Deer Park Ave. They would have used better discretion, just like any other store. Well, I never buy fried chicken . ever . But, last week I thought I would try some and bought a pre-packaged container , but when I got home , all of the chicken was DARK meat which I hate. I thought it would be a whole cut up chicken . There was no white meat whatsoever. It was $8.99 so it was not on sale . I threw everything away and , the next day , spoke with a " manager " ( not the nice handsome one , but someone I had never seen before . ) He said that on Tuesday , all of the chicken is dark meat . When I said that I had not known this and that it did not say this on the package , he shrugged and turned away. I am a good customer who comes all the time to this store ( I live across the way ) . They now have a brand new, cool mini food court!!! Pretty excited at the changes (majority positive) they've made since started renovations a few months ago. More modern lighting, shelf presentations, checkout, etc. Back to the brand spanking new food court. There's a salad bar, hot buffet, hibachi station (yup ya heard right...they cook it in front of you), bbq bar and smoothie cafe. this place is amazing! they have all the food that i'd possibly want, it's very clean and renovated. and on top of that, i really like the robots there. sounds childish, i know, but it's the truth. i just find it amazing how people would go so far just for customer satisfaction to the point where they build actual robots on top of it. keep up the good work, and you can bet i can become a regular customer soon enough! and honestly, i have no idea what the bad reviews are talking about. read more

This is the usual location I do my shopping. The update inside the store looks very nice. EveryThing usually is fully stocked and tidy. Very rarely do I not find what I'm looking for. Huge deli , fruit section. With the new check out yourself lines in multiple spots did seem to keep the lines down. The store was pretty packed since it was right before thanksgiving but it seemed to move pretty quick. read more

Ever since they re modeled this store it is so much better. The freezers are great everything is well organized. The produce section is huge. My favorite section is obviously the bakery. They even have a robot driving around cleaning up spills. read more

Love the renovations at this location, always clean, organized and stocked up. The new cafe section is a great addition as well, the salad bar is super dreah with a great selection and very reasonably priced. We also tried out the wings, the buffalo wings were outstanding. When I'm working in the area, I would definitely stop here for lunch. read more

Stop & Shop announced that starting Thursday, March 19,2020 they would open at 6:AM until 7:30AM so that shoppers 60 and over could shop in peace. Sounds good, right? Well at 5:30AM the seniors started lining up to get into the store. It was 36 degrees and raining. The lights were on in the store and the employees were milling about. You know what would have been nice? Letting the over 60 crowd wait in the store instead of standing outside in the freezing rain. Ok, 6:00 rolls around and the elderly customers are let in and warmly greeted by a Stop and Shop employee. All are now happy to shop in a safe store. It would have been nice if the shelves were stocked. No meat, very little produce, no cleaning products, no soap. 1 pallet of paper towels was brought out and gone in 5 minutes. Same with the toilet paper. Baby food for the grandchildren? Only if you want fruit. Most left with very little in their shopping carts and to tell the truth these people could have gone at any time during the day, without waiting outside in the rain and could have gotten the same amount of groceries or more! Hey if a store really wants to open up early to help the elderly, try stocking the shelves. These people are vulnerable and have a hard enough time during this crisis without being duped by their local supermarket. So Victoria T of Stop & Shop responded to me with a load of BS. First she couldn't even bother to get my name right and she never addressed the issue of Stop and Shop leaving the elderly customers out in 26 degrees and rain. read more

I wonder if this store is obligated to hire parolees or something. Once one of the workers cursed and screamed at me to get ------- out of the way when he was steamrolling a line of shopping carts in the doorway. I am over seventy and very small & this was very frightening. He was totally out of control and almost banged into me. I did report this, but no one really was interested in what an elderly person had to say. Today I asked another man where the cat food aisle was & he just turned away saying, "I hate cats". I would not even bother telling the manager because I imagine it is he who hires these people. I've been coming to this Stop & Shop for years so shame on me that this is my first review. Compared to other nearby supermarkets, I find Stop & Shop clean, well lit, have many of the items I'm looking for in stock, have fresh produce, and most important have competitive prices. I always look for deals in the weekly circulars and they also send coupons in the mail, which I sometimes use to make the deals even sweeter! On a side note, I always envy those people I see on TLC's Extreme Couponing and wish I can somehow pull that off one day. This is also the only place I've seen that has the hand scanners where you can scan and bag your items as you shop so there's no waiting at the check out line. Keep up the great work, S&S! I've shopped at this location ever since I was born. I have a special connection with this place because they genuinely care about their customers. My grandpa goes to this store every day and is only treated with kindness from the employees, especially Dan from the pharmacy. They're pretty fairly priced, offer a huge selection and they give back to the community. Most of the employees are helpful, they genuinely want the best for you by recommend products and don't try to scam you into buying more than you need. read more

The store itself is pretty much fine (way too crowded on weekends - beware!) but this review is for the pharmacy in S&S. My family has been going here for a long time. The staff is incredibly friendly and they are always willing to help, no matter the situation. They basically became friends with my dad as he would go there often on my mom's behalf. Now that he is no longer with us, I've been there a lot and I'm always greeted with a (much-needed) smile. Every time I come here I've ordered deli meat only to find that the meat I've ordered and was charged for (Boars Head only) is store brand. The taste difference is huge. So is the price. I've contacted customer service three times when this issue has happened. They only offer refunds. They have never actually solved the problem. Double check your deli meat before you go. They also never have enough steak and vegetables in stock. Just went to pick up cilantro and like always, there was none. With other supermarkets in the area, I'm done with this one read more

I find myself coming here because it's close to work... but every single time I go there, whether it's 5pm, lunchtime, the weekends there are NEVER enough cashiers and I always end up in the self checkout lane - Which means I get out quicker than people waiting in the endless lines!! And if you do manage to actually go to a cashier, pack your patience, not all of them are bright stars!! I wouldnt recommend stop & shop mainly the one in deer park because it has really fallen off. I have several issues with this supermarket. They have a dispenser for the antibacterial wipes at the front door but its always empty. The paper towels they use to have in the meat section arent available anymore. The deli got me sick twice. The items im looking for are never stocked. A lot of missing produce. Example the dole salads are never stocked. I have found several expired yogurts. I shop here once a week because it's conveniently in my neighborhood and there aren't any other supermarkets in close proximity. There are never shopping carts outside anymore. Tons of registers but only three ppl ringing. I swear its always like this when i go. No matter what day. It shouldnt be do more with less. So i guess The self check out is suppose to eliminate lines. Wrong! It was good until they got rid of the conveyer belt. So you try to bag but dont have room. So you remove a bag and the machine asks you to put it back on. They need to bring back the conveyer belts. Stop and shop once was a great experience and a clean environment. I dont trust the products anymore that i purchase. If it wasnt for the natural food section and the location i wouldnt return. Im really disappointed. read more
