We stopped in Cornucopia to pick up some fresh produce and see what else the store had to offer. I swear I bought the best bananas I've ever had in my life. The selection is varied in each section of the store; it is well lit, very clean and when you get to the counter, the nicest people are there to help you check out. I ordered Shanghai rolls (a personal favorite and these were crispy and tasty filled with pork), Pancit Bihon Noodles (tasty with chicken and shrimp), Chicken Adobo (literally some of the best I've had, with onions in that yummy brown sauce over rice), Lechon Kawali (crispy and VERY flavorful), Pork BBQ on skewers (tender and sooooo good), and then a Kare-Kare that I was promised would not disappoint (and they were correct...the tender oxtail was perfect in delicious peanut sauce, again it made my rice so happy). So very authentic and so much love put into the cooking with good ingredients that I will certainly return again... There's also a very cute and well stocked Asian grocery there, just in case you were wondering....well worth a trip there for many reasons, the lovely owner being among them. My favourite is the daughter's own gluten free cookies! I have to be gluten and corn free due to having both Aspergers and Tourettes Syndromes, so finding food safe for me to eat in fairly isolated locations is difficult. I appreciate being able to get off the bus, walk to the farm stand, and buy a package of the Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Crinkle, or Sugar cookies, along with a few of their carrots or apples and string beans and potatoes, before I go for a walk through the woods down the road. Whatever I don't eat (most of the time the cookies do NOT make it home!) on my hike, I bring home and cook for dinner. I highly recommend!

I originally went to Deer Run because I know Fink's Farm uses them to sell vegetables, but I was surprised to discover that Fink's was significantly less expensive. I purchased two cauliflower, two zucchini, one broccoli, and one celery, and my total came to $35. I completely understand that running a farm comes with expenses, but these prices are simply too high, especially for a farm that grows its own produce. As much as I love fresh vegetables and supporting local farms, I can purchase the same quality produce at Fink's for nearly half the price. I'm sorry, but unfortunately, I won't be returning. I truly want to support local farms, but the prices need to be reasonable for customers to continue coming back.

I didn't look at the wine, as it was all far away on a wall, and not accessible. There are some jars of preserves. Tempting, but $11. Bit expensive. They also sell baked goods, mostly cookies and pies. Nothing was marked as "gluten-free," so I had to pass. Luckily, as fall is coming and I need to fit in my clothes. There are also some cute gift shop items, like mugs and shopping totes. And a small selection of pastas. They looked REALLY good, but definitely made from wheat. Sigh. There's gelato, which looked delicious, but alas I have some at home. I would have liked a larger selection of vegetables--I wanted lettuce, specifically--but a lovely young woman behind the counter explained that they had different things at different times, depending on supply. I forgot to ask about the wine, but perhaps I'll come back with a friend. Hopefully it's a local vineyard. This isn't my idea of a "farm stand," exactly, but it's a nice place. There is a large sign saying "La Corte" INSIDE the store. Not particularly helpful, lol, but at least I eventually figured out that I was in the right place.
