We were so excited to try Stooges but our experience was not a good one. We had multiple mix ups on our order, including one meal not being completed until everyone else had finished eating. Not once when we were waiting did the manager stop over. When our bill came we asked to speak with the manager. She blamed her staff and said mistakes happen (of course they do but they are usually handled in a professional manner) but not once apologize for the inconvenience. Her attitude was truly unacceptable as the manager. I would not recommend Stooges based off this experience. read more

We made our first visit here today. Indeed, they have done a nice job remodeling the old city hall building. We were seated promptly and received our soft drinks quickly. I a build a burger with cherry peppers and cheddar. My GF had the mac and cheese with a sausage patty. The burger was tasty, but terribly over done. I know stuffed burgers cannot be rare or medium rare, but this was waaaay overdone. The bun seemed stale, so I ate just the burger with a fork and knife. Fries were great! Shoestring style and crispy. The mac and cheese was generous and the sausage excellent! After taking our order we never saw our waitress again, a different woman brought our food and the check. We both would have loved a drink refill but no one came to see how we were doing. Total with tip was $65 which a bit spendy for one burger and one mac and cheese with no apps, alcohol or dessert. Also, a $20 burger should not be up-charged $2.50 for lettuce/tomato and mayo. C'mon folks! We may go back, but I doubt it. I had the special burger of the day which was a chicken burger with a great stuffing which included Mac & cheese. I don't recall all the ingredients. I ordered the sweet potato waffles fries and said ok to the honey & butter on them. I think the honey & butter was put on too heavy for my taste. First time trying Stooges, after hearing so many great things. We were not disappointed! Staff is so friendly and full of smiles. The decor is so cute! Mason jars with your utensils and one with pretzel rods, adorn the tables. We had the blt poutin fries and French onion soup to start. Just yum. The soup is definitely home made. Sweet, salty, beefy, oniony yummmmmm. Added minded garlic gave it that something extra. A mound of fries for the blt poutin, could be a meal in itself. The burgers were amazing. Each stuffed just right and the taste was perfect. We like ours a bit on the med rare side and they hit that spot on. Onto the sweet potato waffle fries, coated in honey butter, oh my lord....crave worthy! The check came and it had individually wrapped twizzlers with it. So fun! I first want to start by saying the burger was good and because the burgers are their specialty I will give credit where it's due. And then that's about it... sorry but nothing really wow'd me about this place. I actually felt overwhelmed by the menu and didn't get much help from the waitress to help me decide (there wasn't many posts on yelp either with it being newer). I asked about the "cheeseburger tots" because there wasn't a description with them and I was told gator tots topped with hamburger and cheese so I'm picturing a huge plate of tots with cheese all over and chopped up hamburger- who's with me?!! But I was wrong. It was 1 smooshed tot topped with a mini hamburger and cheese on top(5 of them on the plate )Neat idea but let down from what I was expecting. And why would someone want that as an appetizer when changes are you're getting a burger for the main dish?? I made my own burger with caramelized onions, bacon, and cheese and it was really loaded with the toppings inside and the burger was huge! The curly fries were way too overdone and were beyond crispy, I also think they should look into fresh cut because it would compliment the good burger. And one last thing I thought was weird is the burgers come on a bun and that's it! No lettuce no tomato no mayo or mustard. So this place has a "It's 5 o'clock somewhere" happy hr!! Which I am a huge fan of. $2 margaritas!! Also the menu is extensive and the portions are huge! The atmosphere was pretty chill and on the more quiet side, which was nice. First, I'm not sure that this isn't a five star experience. I enjoyed it a great deal. Arrived on the last day of January, a Wednesday, at 6ish. About 70% of the place was full and it seemed like they were well staffed. Greeted immediately, sat directly. It was cold outside, but the place was warm. Liz was our server - very informative and happy, quick, and we were contacted many times during our stay. My wife and I have pretty good sized appetites, hadn't eaten much all day so we were excited about the food. The three mac-n-cheese balls were huge and cheesy. Nothing wrong with those. Cherie ordered a "build your own" with ground beef (choices also include Scappelliti's sausage - a Lockport fav - or ground chicken), put on a brioche bun and stuffed with smoked gouda, pickles and bacon. This is important - pick your stuffings well one way or the other. The burgers are cooked to Medium Well and yes, they can be a bit dry. The curly qs could have used a bit of zip, but good nonetheless. Some seasoned salt, perhaps. The pickles were crisp, and garlicky. Cherie was very happy. This was Super Bowl week so they featured football items as specials (New England Chowder and Crab cakes were on the starter menus). I took up the recommendation - a Chicken Philly. Ingenious ... chicken stuffed with caramelized onions and peppers, steak and cheese with Italian dressing. Very, very, very flavorful and juicy. About 1.5 inches thick and served on Ciabatta bread. Sweet potato cross fries were glazed with honey. Loved those ... I could see where some might be put off by how sweet it was. To Liz's credit, she warned me both to remember that, and that my sandwich wasn't made with Ground Beef and that the fries would be honey-flavored. With a single Diet Coke and a glass of water, the bill came to $36 and we left the server a solid tip. Given the we were hungry all day, we left stuffed with to go containers. Portions obviously are really good sized, appropriate for the prices. The atmosphere is excellent, music from the 70s to the 90s played over a PA system and everything about the place just inviting, from the pretzel sticks when you get there, to the funky way they produce paper towels, to the ending of Cherry Swizzle Sticks. A good place. Go around the corner when you are done and have the very best ice cream in Western New York at Lake Effect. If you are from out of Lockport it will make for a great, great trip including a view of the Locks. read more

Went for an early dinner with my older parents. It should be noted that there is a pretty good flight of stairs if anyone has mobility issues. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. She has a very nice smile and great demeanor. She was knowledgeable on the building as well. Nice background music. She answered any questions and seemed interested in what we had to say as well. It was nice to see Genny Bock beer on tap and the pretzel rods were a nice touch. All had different styles of stuffed burgers and they didn't disappoint. Plenty of filling and interesting choices. The BEST burger I have ever eaten! This establishment is an inside-out burger joint. So all your toppings are cooked in the burger!! I was blown away. Such a great location! It's right next to the Lockport locks - which is a sight to see - in a historical building. The decor is so fun and you can tell they truly like to help other local businesses (ex. selling local bread). We will definitely be coming back for a nice little afternoon trip! Excellent burgers. They have a wonderful selection of stuffings 2 get stuffed into your burger. When you sit down there pretzel sticks in a mason jar on the table and they do not serve dessert, they tell you one of the best dessert places in the area is right across the street. Meaning Lake Effect Ice Cream. What they do give you is an individually wrapped Twizzler when you get your check. And believe me with the large portion size you really will not have room for dessert. I had the sticky which is a burger stuffed with crunchy peanut butter, bacon Jam and caramelized onions. It was absolutely delicious. I had mine with the sweet potato fries. I know that they say they do not serve dessert but you could serve sweet potato fries as a dessert. They are cross cut sweet potatoes fried then glazed with an incredible glazed. When the waitress finally came back to the table she took it and reheated it . When we finally received it it was warmer but cooled off quickly.
