We had an EXCELLENT experience with this company!…read more Years ago I had researched tile removal and discovered how tedious and MESSY this process is. I stumbled upon the Dust Ram removal system and knew this was the route I wanted use when we began our renovation. There are a few companies in Houston that offer this system and Cutting Edge was the first AND ONLY company we called. During my initial call, I was informed of the approximate removal costs per sq. ft. depending on the material. I asked if they would send someone out to do the measurements and they said they charge $150 for this service so we decided to measure ourselves. NBD. On a follow up call, I talked to a guy for over an HOUR, chatting like we were BFFs for 20 years (wish I could recall his name... I'm writing this a month or so later. I want to say it started with a B.). This made me feel like I wasn't "just a number." He was able to answer all my questions and then some. EVERYONE I spoke with/interacted with at this company were highly professional. The fee we were quoted was LESS than we expected. (Though we didn't know what to even expect... we though high because everything seems high these days.) We had both hardwood and tile removal. On the day of removal, the company came on time and were very professional. The lead guy, Austin, was great. Everything was answered with a "Yes ma'am, no ma'am." (Am I old enough to be a Ma'am?!?!?!) Anyways, My husband and I both left the house while they worked. I want to say the removal took about 6 hours??? When we returned, we were blown away by how great everything looked! We joked the house looked better with bare concrete than the ugly beige tile and dated hardwood entry way. Although not 100% dust free, this was about 99% dust free. Waaaaaay better than the alternative!!! We definitely recommend this tile removal company!

Final Cost: Stairs: $2,369 (16 Stairs) Labor: $3,136.50 (597 Square feet) $3,536.84 (Wood) Total: $9,042.34 Note: Joe said the cost of the wood went up because of the Tariffs and trade wars. This caused the wood price to go up and my final price to increase. This also includes the additional hidden cost for leveling (I will discuss this in further detail below) Joe (Owner): Very nice and completed a fast quote in a timely manner. Does not perform an on-site post job inspection. Very hard to get a hold of to fix an issue. Will not fix an issue if it will cost him more money. Contract (estimate): Very detailed, I highly recommend you read every section and have a clear understanding of the contact before he performs work. One of the hidden contract fees are leveling, Joe gave me a very not good answer as to why this is not included in the initial estimate. I was charged an additional $540 for 6 square feet of concrete in various locations. I would have been ok with the charge, he could have at least had an estimated cost. As his contracts say estimate at the top. I take the blame for not accounting for this cost, I did not think I would have to pay an extra $500. I did not take off for this in my final three-star rating. Communication: Very poor, I had issues after the job, and he would not answer the phone. I would call for a few days before I received a response. He will respond rapidly if you offer him a new job. Then he would recommend fixing the issue with the new job. None of the workers speak English very well or at all, I don't have a problem with this issue. I did have a problem when they did not re-install the stand on my cabinets. They did not understand the issue and I still have a stand not install on my cabinet. Cleanliness: The workers left wood dust daily and left a shirt and wood pieces. The workers retrieved the shirt three days after I let Joe know. Joe apologized. Workers: The workers changed twice in during the job, I would have liked to have the same workers every-day. Or at least one familiar face. Craftsmanship: I had a squeak in my floor during installation, I alerted the guys as the installed the floors. They ignored me (communication issue), once completed I alerted Joe and he had them come out two weeks later and use all of my extra wood to fix the issue. The squeak is still in my floors.

The engineered hardwood flooring in my home was in dire need of repair. Rain water had seeped in…read moreand the wood was warped and discolored by the front door. The rest of the floor was scratched and scuffed, and I'd used all sorts of product on the floor trying to "restore it to it's natural finish". Those products only made it look dull and filmy. I contacted two flooring companies, both listing "hardwood resurfacing" as one of their services. However, when they came to my home to provide an estimate, they measured the floor for thickness and both stated they were "too thin" to be resurfaced and my only option was to install brand new flooring, which of course a service they provided! They each pressured me to purchase new floors and assured me I had no other option. My third call was to My Hardwood Floor Guy. James contacted me immediately and that same day, a member of his team came to my home. He measured the floor for thickness and my first thought was "oh, here we go again...", but to my pleasant surprise, he said, "oh yes. We can resurface these." The next day, two members of his team arrived promptly at 9am and got to work. They sanded the section by the door where the wood was water-warped, and made the floors smooth and even. Since the wood was also darker and discolored in this area, it was suggested that I stain the floors the same dark shade as the damaged wood. I yielded to their judgment and told them to do what they thought best. The end result was gorgeous hardwood flooring for 1/3 of the cost the other two flooring companies wanted for brand new floors. I don't think the first two companies ever had any intention of resurfacing the floors and only used that as a ploy to come into my home and convince me to purchase something I did not need and could not afford. This was not the case with My Hardwood Floor Guy. They arrived at my home with the intention of providing the exact service they advertised. They are awesome and I highly recommend them.
