My initial contact with Jeff @ Cutting Edge was 2/14/18 after Hurricane Harvey. After tile removal twice with this co. & discussing the remodel/rebuild of my home, I believed they were capable. This is my first review & I had to make anyone who is considering using them for remodeling to be aware. I bought $800. worth of glass tile & Jeff told me that he had to buy an additional $155. When I walked in the master bathroom & saw the guy taking out 2 of the tiles & asked him what he was doing, he said Jeff told him because it was defective to replace it. He then was putting caulking around it & when I asked him why, he said he didn't have enough grout. I told him that caulking is unacceptable. He did finally replace the caulking with grout. Jeff pointed out to me several tiles he said were defective when they installed them. I asked him why they would install defective tile when the return policy states to return any defective tile for a full refund or replacement. Jeff said he wished they hadn't. Jeff wanted to know if I wanted them to replace the defective tile. I also found by climbing on top of the tub (I wanted to unlock the window) that one of the tiles they installed was cracked. I was 76 yrs old & I would say they didn't expect me to do that but I wanted to clean my windows from the outside. When Jeff came to my house on 8/9 & we went over all the things I wanted corrected, he took pictures & we agreed on the dates he felt were available for him 8/28 & 8/29. He stated that he had to check with Marvin (the tile man) to see if he would be available those days & would call me back. Jeff now is putting this all back on me saying I was supposed to call him. Of course he is saying it was a misunderstanding. Whenever I called Jeff in the past, I either had to call a second time or text him, Brad or Dave. Several times his mailbox was full. I sent Jeff 2 certified letters asking for an itemized invoice which I have yet to receive. I know that he overcharged me & I did write him a check when I knew that I should not do so. I was told that I would not get an invoice at all. When I told Brad, "no invoice, no paymt.), Jeff came with an invoice for the total amount plus additional charges. I was not asking for any refund but I wanted a decent job for over $52,000. I asked Brad what happens if I find something that needs attention after they are gone. He said just call us & we will come fix it. The tile flooring they installed was not leveled so most of the tables & chairs wobble when they are touched. I have a double mirror sliding glass door that they installed & it slips off the track. There is a chip in the floor tile under the kitchen table. Of course, Jeff says it was not there when they completed the job. I would like to know how he knows that because he was not here on that last day except to give me that invoice. He says the same thing about the cracked shower tile. I am the only one in this house & I certainly did not chip the floor tile or crack the shower tile. The paint job was horrible: paint spots on the floor, paint on the doorknobs (tape was used around the doorknobs instead of painting the doors before they were installed so there is sticky residue from the tape, the linen closet in the master bath was not painted at all & I found the painter washing paint brushes with red exterior paint in my new white bathroom basin. I have 2 full baths & they took the toilet out of one & the painter was working in the other. When I told him I had to use the bathroom, he said, if you would stay out of here, we could get through. I had to go to Kroger's to use the restroom until I got fed up & told him that I had a female problem & had to go to the bathroom more frequently. He made another smart remark & Jeff said he was just being funny. One of Jeff's last voice mail messages to me was "I am sick of hearing about the shower tile". Well Jeff, I am sick of looking at the sloppy job done on it. Jeff was aware that I had 2 bad contractors before him. He kept saying he did not know how anyone could do anyone the way they did. My last contact with Jeff was by text & he said that I resort to personal attacks on him & Brad. I was very patient even though I cried myself to sleep every night & would just lose it during the day. When they were finishing up I was scheduled for a total Hysterectomy. I was in so much pain, I felt I had to pay them off to get them out of my house. I am going to have my master bathroom shower redone but not by Jeff & his crew. They even used some of my tools like the indoor/outdoor vac. They never cleaned it. They washed their buckets, paint brushes, etc. in my yard & killed the grass. They didn't do it on one side of the yard but on both sides. there is even more. read more
