WARNING: This will be long, but I think its worth sharing our full experience with Flooring Nerd…read more A bit of background. My wife and I moved from California to Texas and purchased a home through the VA. It was in dire need of attention and we knew going into it there was going to be major issues. Flooring was one of them. There was carpet throughout the house, except the kitchen. Previous owner had two dogs that he let run around free inside, which resulted in major urine stains everywhere and ripped carpet in various areas. It was very nasty. Worse part was we had no choice but to sleep on the floor until we could get someone in to replace the nasty carpet, and everyone we talked to was either too expensive, or not available until 2 weeks out. I came across Flooring Nerd on Yelp and decided to call them. Vijay answered and had his colleague John come in the very next day. John arrived with a mask on, very professional and friendly. He noted all of our concerns and was very knowledgeable of the issues and causes of the current flooring. After taking measurements, he brought in samples of various floor material to show us. My wife really wanted to have laminate in the living room (we can't afford hardwood). Anyone else would've just said "ok" and continue with the order, but John laid out the good and bad about laminate flooring, just so that we had a holistic picture of what to expect in time. The problem, as I said earlier, was we couldn't afford anything else. If not laminate, the only other option was carpet. John knew this. And here's where Flooring Nerd won me over. John mentioned that they had just finished a job where they installed vinyl, which is better than laminate, but obviously more expensive. The left over material that was not installed was just enough to cover our living room. He offered it to us on a discounted price, which would fall in our budget! My wife and I didn't hesitate and said yes! For the rest of the flooring throughout the house, John helped us even further by adding on an additional military discount. Flooring Nerd had already won us over, but that for me, on a personal note, meant a lot and was all I needed to hear to know that these were the guys I wanted to work with now and for future projects (*hint *hint kitchen). John did tell us that it would take a week for the carpet material to come in, but the vinyl could get started right away. At least we'll have that. We agreed. The day Flooring Nerd showed up to install the vinyl in the living room, I was introduced to Vijay. Again, super professional, friendly, wore his mask, and just as knowledgeable as John. Vijay and his crew began immediately on tearing out that disgusting carpet. It was then that one of Vijay's crewmen made us aware that the carpet the previous owner used was corporate building material. He could tell by the type of carpet and the backside, which had multiple glue stains. We were so happy to see it go. John had told us previously that the vinyl install could possibly take 2 days because of the prepping. Vijay and his crew got it done in 1, staying late. When they finished, they cleaned up after themselves and left the living room looking completely fresh. We immediately moved in the sofas from our moving truck. Yea, our furniture was still in our moving truck. Next day, Vijay calls me and tells me they had put a rush order on the carpet and it ended up arriving much sooner. He asked if they could install it on Saturday, 4 days ahead of schedule! Heck yes I said. I asked if they could spray something to get rid of the lingering pee smell. Vijay said not to worry, he could take care of it. Just as the vinyl install, Vijay and his crew showed up and began tearing all the old stuff out. They sprayed some sort of chemical that got rid of the urine smell, then continued with the installation. When it was done, they cleaned after themselves and left the house feeling a lot more welcoming. Flooring Nerd really did go above and beyond. Vijay even came out the day after to do one last inspection and follow up. Folks, if you can at all relate to what I just shared, I highly encourage you to call Flooring Nerd. They really do go all out for their customers. And Flooring Nerd, we look forward to working with you on future projects :) - Juan
