i love stone man! I went for a private day trip with Caleb, and it was everything i wanted as an inexperienced climber who wanted to take on the hobby again after a 15 year hiatus. He tailored the trip specifically to my needs and mixed the trip with some great climbs, awesome pointers, and an easy-to-remember overview of how to rig a safe system for a solo climb (something that is pretty specialized and not necessarily easy to find good info on). Caleb was such a knowledgable dude. So knowledgable that another instructor from a different climbing company started asking him for tips! I used to climb years ago... casually with friends. We kind of just winged it, as we were "young and invincible." At least, we thought we were... I stopped going once marriage and kids came into the picture. Now that they're older and I can get out more, I've rediscovered my love of climbing, but I'm definitely "out of practice" to say the least. I booked with StoneMan because all of their guides are accredited and they have a terrific reputation. My first time out, Neil was great. We started on something easy to warm up on. I got through it pretty well and we went right to something that would challenge me. I like to work hard, and I like a challenge. He knew exactly what to put me on, and it was a great experience, exposing things I need to work on and techniques I need to practice. When you haven't climbed in ages, there's new equipment, more shoe choices and techniques. Neil is a treasure trove of information on all things climbing. After Neil moved away, I started climbing with Aaron, another certified Stoneman guide. Aaron is a very skilled, very meticulous climber. We have climbed many hours together now, and in that time, he has taught me how to be a safe and efficient climber. You can see he's not just about the climb itself. He wants to give you the tools to enjoy the sport, while keeping safety at the forefront of everything you do. And he has a knack for teaching and explaining things that allows you to really absorb the information and put it to practice. That's a gift that you either have or you don't, and he has it. I feel like I've received twice the tutelage in half the amount of time. For those who know absolutely nothing about climbing but want to pursue it long-term, try just one 4-hour instructional and you'll be absolutely amazed with how much information you come away with, and how well you'll be able to put those skills to use. Aside from that, Aaron is just a nice guy! He has no ego about his skill-set, and he's always encouraging. He's got a great outlook on the sport, and life in general, and is fun to be around. What a day for me and a couple of friends. We booked a climb with the Stone man climbing company. We got Caleb and he was absolutely amazing. Being a bigger man I had a challenge starting my climb. Went out this morning with Aaron at camelback and had a lovely time. Even though we had some mishaps with parking, Aaron was incredibly polite and helpful. My friend and I were thrilled with the experience that we had. As tourists we were a little worried about having our first outdoor climbing experience in August in Arizona. As soon as we met our guide (Neil) we were comfortable and knew we were in good hands. He knew a lot about the environment and was incredibly knowledgeable about rock climbing and the Arizona climate and animals. He was very supportive throughout the climbs and always encouraged us to do our best, take our time, & go out of our comfort zones. He also helped us learn about rock climbing and gave us responsibilities in the climbs. We all worked really well together and felt confident in doing so. Caleb rocks! The experience in Sedona was awesome me and my wife were newbies and he treated us totally professionally. we climed 60 feet up a rock face call Scion on our first climb He made us feel safe he is professional and he made sure we did not climb until we were safe and prepared. His medical experience also gives me confidence if you have an accident.(we had none He is a patient teacher and knowledgeable of the geology, this is very important in rock climbing so that you know how to safely anchor. Where do I begin!? Caleb was our TRG instructor and he was amazing! He made our experience so great. We learned so much in the 3 days and at all times he made me feel safe and confident in what we were learning. If we had questions, he was always there to answer them. If we needed another demonstration about something he was excited about doing it again. He was funny and serious at the same time, which was perfect for our group. He always made sure we were safe. This was the most educational and fun activity on our trip to Arizona. Our guide, Caleb, was incredibly knowledgeable about all things climbing.
