Desert hike tour
Yukiko A.

My daughter & I had a great desert hike on Mother's Day. Our guide Jay was very funny and easy to hangout with. Jay taught us about many different cactuses. Back packs, water bottles and some snacked were provided so you just show up with comfortable cloths and a pair of good shoes. Some part of the trail is slippery but over all the trail is pretty mild for anyone. I was pleasantly surprised how open and friendly the fellow hikers ( seems like all locals ) in Arizona ! Wish the very best for this small tour business. We could meet Laurel, the owner after the hike and she was very nice too.

I had the pleasure of doing a 2 hour beginner hike with Joe as my guide. I can't say enough how exhilarating this experience was. My guide was fantastic! He was knowledgeable, professional and an all around joy to hike with. The owner was extremely sweet and made me feel so comfortable when I booked. I highly recommend this company

I had the opportunity to take a private mountain biking tour with Wild Bunch Desert Guides in October 2021. Coordinating my tour details was a breeze with Laurel at the helm. I received all of my details with my confirmation in an email with my guide's name, where I would be able to find him and the trailhead location. They did also offer transportation but I was traveling by car, regardless, so I opted to meet him there. The details in the email also went over what the tour included as far as snacks and gear. There were, of course, all of the details regarding Covid-19, health and safety guidelines and cancellation information. On the morning of the tour I arrived 15 minutes early as advised and found Don, my guide, quickly because of Laurel's details. He was amped and excited for the day and the tour. We spoke about my previous mountain biking experience, or lack thereof and what our loose plan was for the day. I had previously notified Laurel that I had minimal experience and would probably fall into the beginner category. Don provided me with a souvenir water bottle, a day pack to hold my personal belongings/items during the tour, a helmet, full finger gloves and a hard tail mountain bike. He had me ride the bike up and down the parking lot access road to make sure it felt comfortable and to familiarize myself with the brakes. I looped around and felt confident with the bike as it was. Don loaded up and lead me down the spur trail. He pointed out trail features and possible obstacles as well as guided me on how to handle them when it came to my body and pedal positions. After the one steep uphill climb we hit the ground "biking" and were cruising around the sandy curves of the park. Along the way Don pointed out natural features, names of rock formations and provided plenty of desert facts, as well as dad jokes. He was so upbeat and happy about the entire area I smiled the entire tour. He was happy with my bike handling and took me on a bit of a more difficult trail as we continued through the park. He'd stop occasionally to capture my photo while riding and even got a couple of videos, too. We parked our bikes and took a break atop a rock formation and he showed me the more difficult trails that climb and hop down the boulders. After our break we hit the trail again, at a faster pace which he had me set. He was encouraging as I was making my way up a slick, pebble-covered climb, I didn't make it up without stopping while I was trying to heed his directions. He asked if I wanted to give it an additional shot, heck yes! He told me how to approach the climb and how much speed I needed to hit the base with, he verbally guided me around the obstacles and cheered as I made it up and over it. We cruised back to the parking lot, Don capturing video of me as we rode. Back at the van we chatted about the great ride and he let me know he considered me almost an intermediate rider :) He was kind, the trip went off without a hitch and the communication pre and post tour was perfect. I was also able to obtain my photos through their website! Overall, there was nothing better I could have expected.

We had such a blast with our 3 hour private tour!!!!! Best part of the trip to AZ for me. Kim was our guide and she did an incredible job going at a good pace for us and was very knowledgeable about the wildlife. I would absolutely recommend! The owner is also very passionate about her company and you get a very personal experience.

The hubs and I took off for a day of "first time" hiking not knowing what to expect. We met Laurel as our guide for the day and she welcomed us with the biggest smile ever. Listen, she treated our concerns/fears as if they were her own and she went out of her way to make us feel secure and safe while navigating through the complexities of Camelback Mountain. We had a blast! She even took us on an impromptu walking excursion at the end of the hike. Because of Laurel, the owner of the company, hiking is something we look forward to doing again. *sidenote- she has a beautiful and thoughtful way of exchanging authentic communication while climbing that makes you forget you're on a mountain. She's a rockstar! If you've never hiked before or if you're a seasoned hiker that needs a guide, do yourself a favor and book with The Wild Bunch!

We booked an Ice cream and Gelato tour around Old Town and the Waterfront and were picked up within 15 minutes by "Captain Kirk". He is a very warm and personable guide. He was well versed in the area including buildings/archetecture, public art, history of the area, restaurants and entertainment venues. We had three stops on the tour for 1) Ice cream, 2) gelato and 3) sorbet. All were excellent. We certainly had our fill of sweet treats, all included in the price of the tour. We would certainly recommend this company for one of their many various tours, based on this experience. It was a weekday in January so just be aware that you may need to make more advanced reservations than we did. Thank you Monica and Kirk.

We bopped around Old Town Scottsdale, being given historical information about the town/city and various landmarks. It was extremely interesting and a nice mellow way to start the tour. We then went up towards the Phoenician resort and toured the ritzy neighborhoods to see the beautiful homes - that is definitely an spect of the tour I don't think we'd get anywhere else! There were options to stop for photos, beverages etc. I would note to be prepared for the breeze as you ride on the golf cart and be aware you'll likely be on a couple busy roads with actual cars so ensure your belongings are secure. It was an absolutely fantastic time and I can confidently say I'd love to do another tour with any out-of-town guests who visit me!

This review is about HAVASUPAI BG WILD and not the majestical Havasupai Falls…read more This was by far the worse backpacking adventure I've ever been on. Save your money, research and anyone can do this on their own. I had to request an itinerary months after i paid in full. I had a few follow up questions because the itinerary that was emailed had conflicting instructions from the instructions posted on their website. It took an unreasonable amount of time for someone to respond to my email and I was told that the person designated was having family issues. The first day of arrival our guide text us around 7am to let us know that he wouldn't be starting with us, that he would catch up or fly in. I didn't understand why he sent out a text since we were not suppose to meet him until 10am. We were supposed to meet our guide at the tourist office for a meet and greet but also (more importantly) to give us our permits, but he never showed up. Some of us were stopped by a ranger on a horse because we didn't have the wristband permits that were supposed to be given to us by the guide. The ranger was nice but he still asked for my name and permit. I told him that I was with bgwild and our guide hadn't shown up and he said it was unacceptable that Cole hadn't given us our permits. Fast forward. It's now 11am and I'm at the campsite and I still have not met the guide. Another ranger named Erwin came over to the table where I was sitting and asked for my permit. I started asking around and no one had met our guide. This is a very long story so let me get to the point. This was a 2day/1 night traditional trip so in my opinion there was no room for error. We didn't meet our guide until 5:30pm. I prepaid to have my pack transported by helicopter sling and i didn't get it until 6:15. Which meant I had no food from 12-6:15p when my pack arrived, no swimsuit, no shoes or a change of clothes to continue the hike to Mooney and beaver falls. I would've carried my swimsuit and food had I been informed. I was under the impression that my pack would meet me there. There were no details given about what to expect in the itinerary or on their website. Even if I believe that Cole waited 5 hours for a helicopter and that the Natives were to blame for his tardiness, that means he didn't get to the trailhead until noon. He was supposed to greet us at the tourist office at 10am so he still was 2 hours late getting to the trailhead by his own admission. He arrived at the campsite around 5:30. When Cole finally arrived he didn't even apologize. A simple "I'm sorry for the delay" would've made the experience a little better but he immediately went into to defense mode. I'm sure we looked pissed when he walked up because he immediately started blaming the natives. This wasn't cool at all. Accept responsibility for your actions and stop blaming ppl for your tardiness. To date no one has apologized. I'm a member of a travel group on social media with over 376k members AND WILL SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH ANYONE THAT WILL LISTEN. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!!!

Each stop featured a unique atmosphere and tasty food. I really appreciated their ability to accommodate dietary restrictions -- because I don't eat red meat, I was provided with two smoked turkey tacos in place of brisket nachos, and with chicken tacos in place of pork tacos. This was a huge plus for me! We spent about half an hour at each establishment before walking to the next. As we traveled, Zach shared some fun facts about the area's history. I left with a satisfied tummy and some great new memories.

I generally hate giving a food tour three stars and really struggled with this review.. I decided to give three stars based on variety, value and authenticity. The food felt like a repeat of the same thing over and over again outside of a weird radish finger food and gelato at the end. The repeat tacos and/or nachos are basically cheap junk food that you can get anywhere and $100+ for a tour does not sit well with me when you are only served a few tacos and corn. Lastly, I just don't think Scottsdale has a unique culinary scene outside of pulled meat and tacos, which just doesn't get me that excited. There just is not much for them to do on a food tour in Old town Scottsdale so they did what they could. I always recommend a food tour in a new city and still recommend this one if you need to fill time but it was one of my least favorite tours unfortunately.
