There's so much to enjoy in one area--a nearby library, a beautiful pond filled with ducks and fish, and plenty of open grassy spaces perfect for relaxing or having a picnic. There are also benches and covered seating areas, which make it easy to spend a good amount of time there comfortably. The park is very family-friendly, with a playground, pickleball courts, a volleyball area, and even two separate dog parks--one for larger dogs and one for smaller dogs. Nearby, there's also a community pool and a sports area where you can play games like baseball. They also host festivals throughout the year, and during Christmas, the decorations are especially beautiful and add a nice festive touch. Parking is convenient and free, which is a huge plus. There's also a smaller college located nearby, which adds to the community feel of the area. Overall, it's a well-maintained, welcoming park with something for everyone.

Some people ignore dog size signs which can be dangerous and patrol is very slow to respond. Beautiful area to fish, walk, bbq, huge park for the kids. Plenty of parking, bathrooms are pretty well kept up. We go here daily. We're very fortunate to have such a wonderful park.

The ranch offers great places for photographs with the backdrop of greenery, a rarity in the desert landscape of Phoenix. There are arboretums, trellis with gorgeous vines, park benches, quaint historical buildings that suit a photoshoot. Parking is nearby albeit it is hidden. Turn south on 51st from Northern. Watch carefully for the sign next to the Walgreens parking lot that says in fine print: Manistee Ranch Parking. For those in heels and finery, the grounds are small so there isn't a long walk to the great photo spots!

The trail is mostly paved, easy to follow, and packed with beautiful desert scenery. Once you reach the end, the real adventure begins. Climb the stone steps, scramble carefully over the boulders, and explore the waterfall area. During certain times of the year, you may even find water collected in the pool below. Be sure to look up! There are two additional natural pools tucked into the rocks above your head, with plants growing along the cliffs and birds making themselves right at home. Keep watch for the local hawk that loves to perch dramatically on top of a nearby saguaro cactus. The true treasures of this trail are the ancient petroglyphs created by the Hohokam people. Many can be seen inside the protected, marked areas, but sharp-eyed explorers may spot even more etched into the surrounding rocks. They are incredible reminders of the people who lived in this desert long before us. I take nearly every visitor we have on this hike, no matter the season. It is one of my favorite places to show off the beauty, history, and adventure of Arizona! There are bathrooms and picnic tables near the trailhead, so pack some water, bring a picnic, and make a day of it!

In no way should they be used as a soccer pitch. There were random holes dug, the grass is patchy at best, and if the city was in charge of drawing the lines for the pitch the linesman must have been drunk. Park has lots of shade around the play area. Sun sails are on top of the playground itself. Sails didn't provide much shade early in the morning. Temperature was in the low 70's, so we didn't mind. Play structures were in good condition. My youngest enjoyed playing there. The splash pad is located next to the park. I could see the area getting very busy on hot days. Not as much shade around the splash area. Lots of shaded parking around the park. Parking is shared with the police department and YMCA. There was still plenty of parking while we were there. The fields are also utilized by The Y for their sports programs. The only reason to not give the park 5 stars is the amount of trash. We were there on a Saturday morning. There before any games, before any other people really came. The trash cans were overflowing with trash. There was also lots of trash around the parking lot. Otherwise, Gateway is a wonderful community park.
