We had an incredible tour of Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Our guide, Will, was extremely knowledgeable, polite and professional throughout the entire day. The tour began in Sedona, where the scenery was absolutely beautiful. We then made a quick stop in Flagstaff for lunch before continuing on to the Grand Canyon -- which was nothing short of spectacular. This experience exceeded our expectations and I can't recommend this tour enough. I also can't recommend Arizona Scenic Tours enough -- truly a first class experience from start to finish. read more

We had an absolutely wonderful day on our private Grand Canyon tour from Phoenix. To be honest, we had two hesitations when we booked: (1) It sounded like a LONG day (with a really early start), and (2) It seemed a little pricey. At the end of the day, though, everyone in our group agreed that it was well worth the price (and, particularly if you're coming from the East Coast, you're going to be awake early anyway!). Our guide, Jon, made sure that everything ran as efficiently as it possibly could have. Not only did he ensure that we hit all of the Park highlights, but he took us away from the biggest crowds to show us views that were true " hidden gems." Jon was so knowledgable on the history, the environment, and other facts related to the area that we could not have enjoyed it more. Truly an experience of a lifetime! Grand Canyon Loop Day Tour Is The Way To Go!! Great Experience! My friends had been giving me grief for years about living in Arizona since 1999 and never having been to the Grand Canyon - not that I even leave my zip code very often... After a recent, pretty severe round of ribbing from my friends, I went on line and discovered Arizona Scenic Tours. Reviews of the company and their tours were really good, and they offered exactly what I wanted, a one day Phoenix, Grand Canyon, and back day tour. Reviews of that particular tour made it sound like exactly what I wanted - an enjoyable tour with a great guide without me having to get behind the steering wheel to accomplish it. I contacted Steve, the owner, to find about availability, and he was able to book me for a very reasonable priced upcoming tour with two couples. He arranged for the tour to pick me up at my house in Scottsdale at 7:30 am on tour day, and drop me off back at home upon arriving back in the area around 8:30 that evening. What easier way could there be to see the Grand Canyon, and get my friends off of my back. I ended up having an enjoyable and enlightening day from start to finish. The tour guide, Mike, was friendly, affable, really knew his "stuff", was easy to listen to, and had great sense of humor. By the time he had all five of us on the tour in the van for a short while, we had become a comfortable and companionable group. We left the Phoenix area a little later than anticipated due to scattered pick up locations, but once on the road, we made good time. We learned that Mike had gone above and beyond the call of duty to arrange for a weather change from the rainy overcast day originally forecast for our tour, to a bright sunny one. Not every tour guide has those skills... Our first stop was Montezuma's Castle. I had been there previously, but it was much more interesting with all of the information and details that Mike brought to the table - most of which I didn't learn on my original visit there. He made sure we gained admission quickly and conveniently, and that we got back on the road in a timely manner. Arriving at, and leaving Montezuma's Castle, and throughout the trip, Mike made sure we were supplied with cold water, or soda if we preferred. All along the way from Phoenix, to the Castle, on to the Grand Canyon stops, and back Mike filled in the drive with information about the various areas we were passing through, including changes in vegetation at various elevations. The entire tour was much more interesting than I had anticipated, and I found that the day passed quickly. We visited overlooks at the Grand Canyon Village, Yavapai Point and Desert View Watchtower, each of which had unique views and attractions. There was plenty of time to grab food and take in the sights as we made the three stops. While not being intrusive, Mike was a wealth of information all along the way. I don't think I would have found the tour so interesting without the points that Mike was making. We even got to see and photograph several mule dear as we waited in line at a stop sign leaving our initial lookout. They seemed not even to notice the traffic as it passed them. We left our final stop at the Desert View Watchtower at around 5:15 pm, and headed past the Little Colorado River Gorge, and along the scenic route through the colorful Painted Desert. The sun set as we reached the vicinity of Flagstaff, and there wasn't much left to see after that point, but it had been a great day. Traffic delays caused us to get back to the Phoenix area a bit later than anticipated, but we were all pleased not to have been part of the Labor Day traffic backed up in the direction from which we had come. Awesome!!!!!!!!!! This was such a great small group tour! We did the trip from Scottsdale to Sedona for the day for my girlfriends bachelorette. It was such an amazing tour! Our tour guide Jonathan was sooooo amazing! He took us to all the important spots, took all the pictures! We had amazing lunch and finished at the Winery! Excellent experience! My friend and I went to Phoenix for a long weekend and wanted to see something outside the city, so we contacted Steve about tour options. He was very responsive and answered all my questions, and we decided on the Grand Canyon/Sedona tour. The tour was amazing and everything - from pickup at the hotel, the ride itself, and the different stops- went smoothly and comfortable. Steve was the perfect tour guide, as he is very knowledgable about Arizona and shared many interesting facts. He is very personable and stayed flexible with timing and open to our preferences (the tour took 14 hours total). This trip was amazing. Our guide, Steve, was fantastic. We went to the Cameron Trading Post and had lunch before the canyon. The Navajo Taco was delicious!! Steve knew a lot about the Grand Canyon and took us to some great viewing spots. He made some great suggestions on places to visit at the Grand Canyon Village too. He clearly loves Arizona and knows about the plants, animals and history of the state. This was a great day trip to see the Grand Canyon! read more

We recently took this tour the 1st week in June. We have taken excursions/tours when visiting other places before, but we were beyond impressed with the experience with Arizona Scenic Tours. They were extremely organized, we were contacted very quickly after placing our reservation on viator, then we were provided with reminders up until the day before. I really liked that on the AM of pick up, our tour guide, Eddie, sent a picture of himself and vehicle, so we would know what to look for when he picked us up from the hotel. We were traveling with 2 adults and 2 kids, so there were consistent bathroom stops, but that was no issue. Eddie was awesome and provided us with facts and information the entire drive and even stopped along the way to show us certain things and took family pictures. Once we arrived at the canyon, he showed us many things, took family pictures and even gave us the option to explore on our own if we wanted. It was an awesome tour, he was great with our kids and engaged with them constantly. I can't say enough and would recommend that anyone considering taking this tour, go ahead and make their reservation. We booked this for my husband's 40th birthday so I was nervous that it might not be what he wanted. Bobby was our tour guide and he exceeded our expectations! From my 11yr old daughter to the adults, everyone had a great time. We learned about the history of the Grand Canyon and got to explore on a fully customized trip. We ate lunch at the Indian reservation and had so many breathtaking moments. I know understand how not all things can be captured in a photo. You have to experience in person! Highly recommend! I took the specialty tour today to Sedona and Jerome, and it was fantastic. Worth every penny. I mainly wanted to see Sedona and, and I tagged on solo with another pair that had already booked the trip. It was very beautiful, we hit all of the key points, shopped around one very unique spot (I cannot remember what it is called) with some really great artwork and souvenirs, there was also opportunity to get in touch with your spiritual side and "the vortex"of Sedona if your into that sort of stuff. We then shopped around and had lunch in a more mainstream tourist strip in uptown Sedona. Our guide (Matt) pointed many key spots and formations in the mountains, suggested great photo ops, and was very excited and informative. We also went to Jerome, AZ which honestly was nothing that I would have thought to do on my own, but I'm really glad that I went there, it was pretty cool and has a really interesting history. There is some pretty cool historical architecture, interesting shops (definitely check out the Kaleidoscope store) and gorgeous views there. It has a very old school feel, and is currently marketing itself as a "ghost town" which it essentially has become. All in all it was a pretty awesome day, and I can't wait to have more tours with them when friends come visit!! Thanks guys! read more

I just wanted to share with you what an incredible experience I had with Steve and Arizona Scenic Tours. While in town for a work related convention, I opted to take a day tour on my down time. Arizona Scenic Tours offered a small group, van tour that made for an intimate and personal experience of Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Steve Gerhart, our guide for the day, started off my experience by advising me immediately that the temperatures at the canyon was 20 degrees cooler and that my shorts and short sleeve shirt may not be appropriate. He then waited patiently while I ran up to my room to quickly change. He had a cooler full of water and other beverages to offer all the tour participants and even had cough drops that he offered me upon noticing my lingering cough. Steve was extremely educated about the state of Arizona as well as entertaining. The tour was informative and fun. The level of attention to detail and care for his customers was outstanding. Steve even had spare phone chargers for me to use when my phone battery had drained during the 12 hour tour! Outstanding tour-company and superior customer service. We would definitely use them again! Mike was our driver and tour guide on the Sedona and Grand Canyon tour. We were comfortable with his driving, and thrilled with his wealth of knowledge. He seemed to know a little bit about everything. He was able to speak about the geology behind the formation of the area, the history of Phoenix, and he knew the best places to take us for views, and which shops might have the sort of things that would interest us. Steve runs his own business, and provides a wonderful personal level of service. The tour was on time, professionally conducted, informative, and fun. Steve pointed out details about what to look for, history, geology, where to eat, etc. We were in Phoenix on business, had only one day available, and wanted to see the most of the Grand Canyon. I contacted Steve from Hawaii two weeks prior to going to Phoenix to see the Kobalt 500 NASCAR Race. He replied right away and sent me information on his different tours. He picked us up on time in his Caravan. We had 4 of us. Not a bus load of people. He was knowledgeable, professional and courteous. He brought a cooler of our favorite drinks. He told us about the geography, plants, wildlife and history on the way to the Grand Canyon. We also stopped at Montezuma's Castle on the way. He charges what the other tour groups do, or less and it is a much more personal experience. He will tailor the tour to what you want also. I literally just arrived home from my Grand Canyon/Sedona tour with Steve and had such a wonderful time I was compelled to write this review immediately! Steve was a great guide and made the 3+ hour drive to and back from the Grand Canyon seem short--he's chock full of interesting facts and was just plain fun to talk with (and as someone traveling alone, this was really nice). Steve brought us to three jaw-droppingly beautiful lookouts at the Canyon, giving us some free time to explore on our own, which was much appreciated because it allowed us to take things at our own pace. He also accompanied us for some parts to provide more background information and was extraordinarily informative. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. I wholeheartedly agree with the other "Excellent" reviews, and cannot emphasize enough that if you're looking to tour Arizona you have to go with Arizona Scenic Tours! Mike was a great tour guide - very knowledgeable, friendly, a good driver, a great sense of humor (and a music buff)! He picked us up in Phoenix around 7:30 a.m., stopped to see Montezuma Castle, Desert View Watchtower, Lipan Point, Moran Point, Yavapai Observation Station, Grand Canyon Village, and a few out-of-the-way stops in between - all breath-taking views! He got us back to Phoenix by 8:30 p.m. Shared much knowledge about the canyon and the surrounding area. I would highly recommend Arizona Scenic Tours. If you want to see the Grand Canyon, you must do it with Arizona Scenic Tours. We used them while visiting Phoenix and took the day trip with tour guide Mike. It was a terrific time and Mike was extremely knowledgeable. I don't think we would have gotten as much out of a visit to the park on our own. Plus, Mike took us to some lesser popular lookout points that had some of the best views of the canyon. We took the tour that stopped at Montezuma Castle, too. What a really unique place. The price for the tour was very reasonable and worth every penny. What sold me on Arizona Scenic Tours was that they used regular minivans and there would not be a large group of people. Plus, owner Steve responded to our request within minutes. The tour felt very personalized. Be sure to check their website. Steve ran an excellent tour for us when we needed to do something for the day prior to an ASU football game in the evening. Steve took us down the Apache trail ending up at Canyon Lake and lunching in Tortilla Flats. Steve was very informative and provided a very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. He was on time and made sure we had everything we needed. His love of the southwest was evident and infectious. I really had no information about the area prior to coming down this weekend and now I feel like I have a much better understanding of the area...both geography and vegetation. It's an amazing, beautiful part of the country. Arizona was never a place I had particularly wanted to visit before this, but now I would love to come back to explore more of the lakes and hikes. When I plan on coming back to the area, Steve will be my first call!! read more

We contacted Steve a couple of weeks before our desired weekend via email. He was always quick to get back to us and thorough in his communication. We booked a Saturday Grand Canyon via Sedona tour. He picked us up in his caravan that morning around 0750. He was very polite, very professional, van was clean and in good shape so no worries there. There were three other women in the van but we had plenty of room. We hit the road up to Sedona. As locals (Phx) we were familiar with the drive but Steve's expertise made us feel like tourists! He is so knowledgeable about the surrounding geography, knows geological history and has great info on the desert vegetation. It gave us a totally new perspective on things we'd seen a million times, like a traveling classroom. He encourages discussion and answers questions. Very articulate and educational. He was also willing to stop whenever necessary for bathroom breaks which my pregnant wife appreciated. Steve supplied water and soft drinks in a cooler, food and snacks are largely up to you. We saw the church in Sedona, walked around the shops and ate lunch solo. Then headed up to the Canyon. Steve's knowledge of the Canyon was amazing as well. It is one thing to view this magnificent area and yet another to have someone there that understands its formation. Steve added such a nice dynamic by explaining how different levels of the canyon formed along with the different types of rock and sediment, the history of exploration, etc. We were there for a couple of hours then headed back to Phx. He was a very safe driver and we felt comfortable and secure the entire voyage. Would highly recommend taking one of Steve's many tours and we hope to visit other areas of AZ that he frequents in the future. read more
