I got my exercise, fun solo night out, facts about the town and learned how to use some ghost hunting instruments for fun! Valentina hosted and we walked around a couple of blocks and learned about some very important buildings and its history from old to restored and renovated. We also did some readings on her instruments and confirmed some spooky activities! Although you have to be careful not to use your phone next to the devices. One cool thing I've discovered is a speakeasy that was behind a large hotel in a corner alley and how people from different Midwest states like Illinois for one example would come in and buy buildings and a lot of land. My family and I had a tour with Jimbo of Get Ghosted Phoenix. Jimbo is a great tour guide, good mix of information and humor. Put on some comfy shoes, this is a walking tour and you will be on your feet for two hours. With moving to Phoenix in the mid-80's, Jimbo is very knowledgeable of Phoenix and filled in some holes of history I was not aware of. The legitimate paranormal experience I had on the tour was at the entry of the Security Building. Jimbo was giving us the history of the building and how the construction stalled and completed. As he is talking I get a cold feeling in the recessed entry off Central Ave. Then I see a very old heavy hanging light fixture sway as Jimbo is talking. As soon as we walk away, the swaying stops. There was no wind blowing that would have made that light fixture sway the way it did. Didn't have any other sightings, but the tour is well worth the price of admission! If you're a believer or not, you may or may not get a paranormal experience. The historical information alone of the buildings involved was a great thing for me. As you're walking and you're wondering about a building that is not covered, Jimbo was Johnny on the spot with giving us information about the building. We had a super fun time. Finally a tour that talks about ghosts and lets us investigate for spirits. I forgot my water and thankfully the tour guide had extra water. There was walking but we got to sit down and rest and cool off. I heard a ghost call out someone's name on the spirit box and the rods kept pointing to a dark area in the street! Had a great experience learning about the history of certain locations in Phoenix. Learned a great deal about a number of location; The Teetor House, the Catholic Church, Hanny's, Melinda's Alley... On the tour we were given devices to carry around... (I befriended Mary who is reported to be the nun at the church watching over it) While walking around the streets my K2 kept going off and I was told it was spirits of the homeless that have been killed or died on the streets We had a family with us who one of them was a witch so it was interesting to here her perspective along the way. It was a lot of fun but a bit of a warning... it was hot in the evening so bring a backpack with water. Also once the walk is done, that's it, they don't take you back to your destination, so either grab an uber or walk back. If you're not use to walking 3 miles in the heat maybe an Uber might be best. The company offers other walking events we plan to take at some point. Buy your tickets on their site.. so you can see what other events are happening. The day we went was a Friday the 13th so they had a lot going on, all but 1 were sold out! Have fun! read more

This is a well-researched tour that is educational and entertaining all at one time. Nadine, our tour guide, genuinely loves what she does and it comes through in the experience. I've done lots of ghost tours in different places, and Nadine is one of the friendliest tour operators I've had. Each stop on the tour is fully of intriguing details, from the macabre to saucy to the just bizarre, and Nadine keeps it interesting as you walk about downtown. The tour also includes some ghost-hunting equipment that is fun to use, and you never know what you might catch! We encountered a spirit named "Juan" who seemed to respond to us when we spoke Spanish to him, but not English. Spooky and cool! So much of Phoenix's dark history, from the early times up until more modern times (think the infamous Miranda) are featured on the tour. Totally a must-do for all of the spooky kids out there, or just the people who want to learn some stuff they didn't teach us in history books! read more
