    Cortez roll

Went for a nice meal out and decided to try Stonefish for the first time. Haven't lived in the area long but from other experiences, I did not have very high expectations for some sushi this far land locked. Imagine my surprise! The starter was the pan fried gyoza and miso soup. Both were quite tasty - the soup was nice and hot, not too salty and a generous proportion. I like my gyoza a little crispier but I think the sauce they dressed it up with may have robbed some of the crispy. Tried a new roll - the Cortez and the Verde. Both packed a little punch with heat. The verde is interesting because it's like the southwest met the far east - fried chicken in lieu of fish and it kind of reminded me of a deconstructed reconstructed burrito with an Asian persuasion. The Cortez was perfect for such a cold night - right amount of heat and mixture of crunch and soft textures. It was recommended by our awesome server and I'm glad he made the recommendation. Sorry for spilling my miso!

We made a mistake and asked to sit on the back patio as the temps were lovely. Honestly, the back patio is the only thing in need of improvement. The service was outstanding, the sushi better than outstanding. Really...we have eaten sushi all over the world. This is some exceptional sushi. Super fresh, beautiful presentation and great sushimi. Ambiance on the inside seemed very nice. Next time we will sit inside...lol! It did make us reminisce about eating in the beer gardens of Chicago where we grew up. We will be back!! Highly recommend to others.

We had 1 night in Cortez (movie title?) while in town visiting Mesa Verde. We had done our homework and based on the reviews and photos we were really looking forward to Stonefish Sushi. We were not disappointed! This was, so far, our absolute best meal of our trip and the best sushi we've ever had. Anywhere. Ever. We had the Gyoza to start. Very flavorful and perfect consistency. For our mains we split the Oktoberfest and Yummy rolls. Again, very flavorful and d just the slighted kick of heat. All ingredients were very fresh and the presentation was amazing. We loved our craft cocktails; would recommend the Basil Bomb and the Blackberry Margarita(be sure to stir!). Our server was very attentive and friendly and the ambience was spooky (Halloween decor) with a great vibe. Would absolutely go out of our way to come back again.

Visited from out of town exploring Mancos and Cortez and chose to eat lunch here and it did not disappoint. My friend had a Mojito, Edamame, and the Dragon Roll and I enjoyed a Shrimp Tempura Roll and the Chicken Protein Bowl. I loved that they had gluten free soy sauce. This was by far the best quality tasting food I've had in a long time. I'm visiting from Florida and the food there does not compare. I loved the atmosphere and our bartender, Luis was outstanding! This will definitely be my Sushi goto spot when I return!

Excellent sushi everything tasted amazing. The staff was very efficient. I ordered way too much leftovers for the next couple days. The Thai curry was not all that spicy and the jalapeño teriyaki was not all that spicy either and I am really sensitive to hot things like Indian food my lips start burning...just the right amount of spices.

Amazing amazing food for both sushi lovers and sushi novices that want some cooked options! Such a good combination of flavors and innovation at this place. Don't want to look like a pompous fool, but I've had a lot of sushi from NYC to LA to San Diego, to Philly, to ATL, and this place is easily top 5. Why? The innovation at most spots is truncated in flavor, and afraid to try experimenting with a new flavor profile. Hamachi with Yuzu and and cilantro oil with a dab of siracha?? What?!?! Amazing combo that I haven't seen elsewhere. They are willing to play with flavors in a sophisticated way that is familiar for the sushi lover, but adds such a fabulous kick that it provides a little flavor punch that is surprising and works so well! Specifically the sauce that goes with the tempura, having some shaved fresh ginger?? Game changer! I'm an out of towner, and this place would absolutely factor in when weighing which dark sky or national park to visit with others. Lucky darned locals! Enjoy this beautiful place! :)

We looked for a lunch spot via Yelp on our way home from Telluride…read more Yelp did it again. Loungin' Lizard will be our go to every time we pass through Cortez in the future. We walked in and were immediately greeted by one of the bartenders and told to sit wherever we liked. We found a nice booth off to the side of the bar area. Our server Patrick stopped by the booth and pointed us to the food menu in the chalkboard. We also had another server but I didn't catch her name. They were both very friendly and attentive. I ordered the special for the day. A green chili Rueben & fries. Wow, this sandwich was so delicious! What a creative combination of flavors. Even the slaw in the Rueben included the green chilis. The fries were hot and crispy. My husband ordered the spicy BBQ pulled pork tacos. He said the tacos were amazing and the flavors were off the charts. They were topped with a slaw and pickles. The side of "tortilla chips" had a dusting of a very flavorful spice. Not sure what it was but very tasty. Looking over the menu, this restaurant has some very creative dishes. We can't wait to stop by again! My husband ordered

Steak Out also has a vibrant bar scene in the back of the restaurant, spilling outdoors to well planned outdoor dining and pub setup. The service is friendly and attentive. Watch for unusual limits on days open. Currently, seems like they're closed Sunday and Monday and Tuesday, and then open from 11am till closing Wednesday through Saturday, which offers opportunities to drop by not only for lunch or dinner, but in between as well. The restaurant has an upscale vibe. Not quite white cloth but a place to celebrate a special event. I ordered a Merlot and the 16oz ribeye. Everyone at the table ordered steaks: wagyu steak, New York strip, and the filet mignon. My steak was divine!!! Melt in your mouth amazing flavor. The tomato jam on top was pretty damn tasty too. Although after a while it became too much so I had to move it off to the side. The veggies were cooked perfectly and the baked potato was good. I tried the wagyu and while it was tender and good I much preferred my ribeye. Everybody else seemed to enjoy their steaks. Our only complaint was that we waited an hour and a half for our food. Our reservation was for 1830, we did not get our steaks until 2000. They did give us a complimentary soup or salad for the wait which was nice but 1.5 hours is a little much. But if I were to find myself in the area I would make a stop for this place... I'd just make sure there are no parties lol.
