Recommended by my designer. The price point is off. Very expensive. Called them and took a drive to check out the place. The regular person who I spoke w was busy so I got help from someone else in office. She was helpful but after purchasing granite and or quartz countertops several times in my life ,I feel this experience was off. The positive is that they appear to do good work according to yelp reviews..?? They have two cats there one super friendly. So Rhein Didn't have Baltic brown that I'm trying to match me Old granite. Which anyone would tell you it's still common. The estimate I got was about 60 %%% more than the average competitor. Back to the drawing board. So I'll have to explain to our contractor that it's a no go. read more

In looking up the Stonecutters website to recommend to someone, I realized I never reviewed them! I used Stonecutters for a kitchen remodel in my old home - we went from truly terrible counters to the most beautiful granite counters I could have asked for. Each time I talked to the folks at Stonecutters, I was thrilled with the service - everyone was pleasant and nice and didn't seem to mind that I asked a ton of questions. We went out to look at the slab of granite ourselves and picked the perfect piece. Installation was a breeze (well, actually, I wasn't there, but I heard it was a breeze) and I came home that night to beautiful counters and a lovely kitchen. I only wish I had updated it sooner! There's a small chance this could get updated with a more positive review should the gentlemen at Stonecutters opt to remedy the unfortunate circumstance which they have placed me in. Stonecutters was recommended to me by my wonderful contractor so I checked them out and found that they had great reviews. Based on that, we designed our entire kitchen with a specific product listed on the stonecutters website. After struggling for several weeks to get in contact with them in the first place, we finally did. Went to the warehouse they get their products from to pick out our specific slab only to find out that they had stopped carrying that granite ages ago. Stonecutters has just been advertising it on their website inaccurately. At that point we had spent a good chunk of timing combing through the warehouse to find something similar since our entire kitchen color scheme had been based on the colors in this granite. Figured that out- sent the info over to Stonecutters and went home. Our contractor advised us that we needed to make a deposit on the materials before the date of installation which was scheduled to be two Friday's from then. Not ideal as it was considering the amount of time it took us to get in contact with them to begin with, but as we were without a kitchen counter still, two weeks was better than nothing. I called to make the deposit during business hours, got a generic "everyone's busy leave a message" voicemail. I left a voicemail stating my intentions. I left a second voicemail the next day for good measure. Didn't hear back. I worked the rest of the week and was unable to call again and as they are closed weekends, it was Monday when I finally got in touch with someone. At that point (one week after my initial attempt at making a deposit) I was informed that since they hadn't received my deposit- they had removed me from the schedule and the next available install date became the 28th. That's going from the 14th to the 28th. Two more weeks. Because they couldn't return a voicemail or have the courtesy to call me before just removing me from the schedule? Not to mention my contractor is now on the hook even longer waiting for this next step to be completed. Perhaps what annoyed me the most was that the gentleman I spoke to said "I could bump someone back off Friday to give you your original day back, but what kind of customer service would that be?" With absolutely no regard to the miserable level of service I was currently receiving from them. Nothing but delays and a company that refuses to answer their phone. I don't know about their quality of work, though. I still haven't gotten my kitchen counters. read more

I recently bought a bathroom vanity that came with a limestone counter top and backsplash. While installing the counter it turned out that the backsplash needed to be cut to accomodate a wall outlet. Not really knowing where to get it cut I called a few places. One place made it sound like the biggest deal in the world, wanted $50 to do, would have to send it out and then mentioned that they couldn't guarantee they wouldn't damage the backsplash and if they did they weren't liable. This backsplash mesured 30 inches long by 4 inches tall and I needed 5 inches cut off. I found Stonecutters online and emailed Howard. He said to just bring it in and they would cut it. I went over there on a Friday afternoon and an employee of Stonecutters cut it immediately and I was out of there in 5 minutes. I will definitely look them up in the future if I need any stone work. read more

The staff is so nice to work with...Mike and Lyle did a great job...the installers are incredible and so professional....I would NEVER use anyone else for my granite needs....I hope to be able to use them again for a remodel.... We just got a small slab for the top of the shower bench so they have great options for that and other small pieces, but their customer service is quite subpar. I emailed asking for a quote which took over a week to get back to me then I asked a couple questions right back and got a response again a week later after I sent another email. Was also told I would get a call when the piece was finished and I ended up calling a couple days after she said it would be done because I hadn't heard anything and she said it was done a few days ago. So good options but not great customer service. read more

I completely agree with the first statement above. And that was from two years ago. In January of 2012, I purchased my first home in Glenview, IL. And by March of 2012, I gutted my entire kitchen and started from scratch. New cabinets, new design, new counters, new sink, and a huge island. When I was finished with the design and the cabinets were done, I had a big dilemma. I had the cabinets done in Orlando, Florida and I also purchased my island there because it was in stock there and since I was grabbing my cabinets by truck, I figured drive up the island too. Well, when I came back to Glenview, I called every single place from Glenview to the west suburbs and then south suburbs. No one, I mean no one would take the Island off my truck and hold it for me and then install it when I needed it done. UNTIL, I called Stonecutters and their President Howard picked up the phone and told me, sure I will, you can come by whenever you want, we will take it off your truck, put it in our warehouse until you need the install. You couldn't believe the relief I felt. This was a massive island 9 foot in length and 5 foot wide (45 sq. ft). There was no way even ten of my friends could have taken this thing off my truck and placed it in my garage. But Howard and Stonecutters saved my day. I was still in need of some new countertops, at least looking into the idea of either using what I had, redesigning it or getting it all fresh and new. Well after dealing with Howard and his truly amazing heart, he fit my budget right on a T, went all out. I mean all-out and got me the most beautiful piece of Brown Antique Polished, put it in a week later like he promised, with my new sink that he ordered for me. And my fiance and I could not be happier. My fiance's family used Stonecutters for their kitchen, we used them for ours and if I had another project, I would go back to him any day of the week. Highly Recommend them if you are in the northshore!! Good people, great company, great job!!! read more

Wow. How can these guys not have a review on Yelp yet? Impossible! We found Stonecutters because they had a nice sample kitchen counter or two over in the Abt, so we drove by one day to check them out and talk to them about materials and finishes for counters (we needed a *lot* of countertops!). The people we talked to were super-nice, no-bullshit, but professional. They gave us a small (3"x3") sample of the exact granite and finish that we wanted (absolute black honed, which is somewhat uncommon), and when we decided it was time to get our counters, we asked them for a quote. They gave a reasonable quote, sent us to pick out the slabs we wanted, and cut our counters on their advanced computer-controlled equipment. They even cut a corner countertop for us in one piece at our request so that we wouldn't have any seams in our kitchen (mind you, that's not actually possible if you have a super-long stretch of counter, which wen didn't have). They did a great job installing the counters--very professional, and very careful of our floors and cabinets. The counters look amazing. Lastly, I'd like to give an example that shows how trustworthy and reputable these guys are. In total, between the kitchen and 2 bathrooms, we had *10* different pieces of granite and marble. One piece (a small 24"x37") piece of marble came with the wrong edge. No problem--they cut and prepped a new piece ASAP and Mike (one of the owners) came out to install it two days later. That piece turned out to be waaay too short (whoops!). Mike apologized, re-measured, and then came back with *another* piece. This piece came from part of the marble slab that had some weird swirls in it that we didn't want. No questions asked, no arguments--they said that if we didn't want it, they'd re-do it. Well, they re-did it with no complaining and they made it right. Sure it was a bit of an inconvenience, but never did I think "hey, these guys are just going to leave me hanging". An upstanding company and I'd gladly do business with them again. read more

Just used Stonecutters again for a smaller project. - Shower curb, bench and small shampoo shelves for my shower. I was going to spend a ton of money picking out a new full slab of stone. Instead they suggested I look around their scrap yard to see if there was something I liked. I walked around the scrap piles with 2 different people, 2 times. I couldn't make up my mind and had them walk with me for an hour each time. I was an absolute pain in the a**. I found one I liked and they did a fantastic job while saving me a bunch of cash! Update: Not only did they crack our backsplash, they were off by 3/8" on the counter top. THIS BUSINESS IS HORRIBLE! DO NOT USE THEM! EVER! When we asked for a refund, they refused. If I could give a 0, I would have. When I called, they said that if we got there by 2:30, we could wait for our granite to be cut. But, when we got there at 2:30, they said they did not have anyone available to cut the granite. They promised our granite would be cut and ready last Monday. We called Thursday because we had not heard from them and they said they were too busy and it would be ready this Monday instead. Our contractor was scheduled to install on Saturday. They reluctantly said they would have it ready on Friday. We came on Friday and our granite backsplash was cracked. We called today and they said it was cracked when they got it (which is ABSOLUTELY FALSE). They would not stand behind their service. BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS! read more

My wife and I recently remodeled a bathroom and searched extensively for a countertop that fit our color scheme. We visited Stonecutters mainly because they were located close to our home and a remodeler recommended that we do so. We found the ideal granite slab in their yard and had Mike, the manager, set it aside for us. Mike was easy to deal with and put us immediately at ease: a straight-shooter, no monkey business. When the time came for the countertop to be installed, I called him, and he came out at the appointed time to make measurements (using a laser connected to a PC, no less!). The finished product was ready a few days later, and the two installers did an excellent job of placing it in the proper location (no mess, floors protected). We are totally satisfied with our experience: from dealing with Mike (if you can't get along with him, you can't get along with anybody!) to the quality of workmanship, and, last but not least, the rock-bottom price that we paid - which impressed our remodeler as well. When the time comes to remodel our kitchen and choose the countertops, we will head first to Stonecutters. read more

This is a great company and a great team of people! They did an amazing job with both our marble countertops and a custom fireplace. The planning process was fantastic, from reviewing the layout of the countertops, the plumbing holes, the edging. The installation was seamless, efficient, and done by courteous crews. During the installation of the marble fireplace surround, they ran into unforeseen issues caused by the fireplace, not the marble design. They spent several extra hours on that installation, and created a solution that even improved the look and design. This is the company to use! read more
