Our experience with Dr. Dollins was extremely disappointing and upsetting. Twelve hours after my wife gave birth to our second daughter, Dr. Dollins made her break down in tears and feel like a terrible mother. She was condescending, dismissive, and made us feel deliberately belittled for asking reasonable questions. The issue began when we asked why the Hepatitis B vaccine needs to be administered on the first day of life. Instead of explaining with understanding or evidence, Dr. Dollins laughed at us and accused us of "relying on politics instead of science"--even though we had not mentioned anything political. She told us to "trust her and her research," yet provided no actual studies or scientific references, only personal opinions. We made it clear that we are not anti-vaccine, but that based on our own research, we believe the Hep B vaccine isn't immediately necessary for a low-risk newborn. When I asked how a baby could contract Hep B if the mother doesn't have it, she responded, "We're not here to judge, but life happens." That comment was dismissive and inappropriate, implying moral judgment rather than providing science-based guidance. When we declined the erythromycin ophthalmic ointment, she again laughed and sarcastically asked, "Why?" When I asked what it was for, she said, "For gonorrhea and chlamydia." I replied that my wife does not have either infection, and Dr. Dollins repeated, "Like I said, life happens." That statement was both offensive and suggestive--essentially implying infidelity. She then said, "Sorry, I don't want your daughter to go blind," to which I said, "Oh a fear tactic, I see." Her response: "Yep." Such behavior is unprofessional, disrespectful, and unacceptable from a medical professional--especially when directed toward new parents hours after delivery. I have 3 children. Ages: 14, 5, and 2. I take them all here. You can see I have a wide variety of ages. My son's see Dr Reyes and my daughter sees Dr Smith. I have NO idea what happened with the people posting but I have been coming here since my daughter was BORN and Dr Smith has always been a great listener and I have never once felt like she was just trying to get copays. Dr Reyes is equally awesome. He sits and talks with my boys and explains whatever is wrong with them to me and to them. This has been the best pediatrician/dr I have ever encountered for my children. They have a section separate for you to wait if your kids are sick to not get healthy kids I'll. They have TVs with cartoons in the waiting room and in the exam rooms. They have NON candy rewards like stickers, balls, tattoo for after they are seen. The nurses are super sweet and they always get us in if the kids are sick, same day. I trust them fully. Also, they are even open Saturdays! I wouldn't listen to people who probably were pissed they couldn't get the dr to call in a prescription over the phone because the dr is decent and wants to SEE what is wrong with the child before writing a prescription. I just left from my son's one year visit and I am utterly SHOCKED by the care he received. The doctor and nurses who work here aren't just working here for a paycheck. These people work here because they genuinely belong in peds. Nurse Kim did a fantastic job with his blood test (he didn't even notice she had pricked his toe) and Nurse Lilly was able to give him his shots before he had a full on breakdown. Dr. Dollins was patient with my questions and concerns and made my son feel more relaxed during the exam. Every visit we have gone to they are always behind 15-20 minutes. Terrible bedside manners. Everything is just rushed and we don't feel heard when it comes to any concerns. We go in and wait almost 30 minutes total just to be seen for 5 minutes. Last and final visit we went in and the doctor disregarded a concern and said it was just eczema when I have lived my whole life with eczema. Also insurance reimbursed our visit and the office never called to let us know we had credit. I find out on the day of the last visit only for them to charge it for that day. We have had a wonderful experience with this practice and Dr Reyes. He came straight away to the hospital the morning after our baby was born and has been thorough and attentive ever since. We utilized the office hours on a Saturday due to jaundice and they even set up home health to come out to bring us a billi bed for baby. So convenient for us. My sons used to see dr alvis who was good. I was switched to a different doctor there without explanation. My three month old has HIE and is special needs. Unfortunately this new doctor we have does not listen to our concerns and only pushes medication. She's frustrated when we ask questions and does not offer any advice or recommendations other than take meds which we explained weren't working. There's zero compassion as well which is very disappointing. They also make you wait long times while they chat outside your room with staff. Things have really changed at this office. The communication is not good. I no longer recommend this place especially if you have a special needs child. read more

Our doctor was a medicine pusher and did not spend adequate time with us nor did she explain common issues we worried about as first time parents. Also, vaccines were forgotten and so unprofessional when we needed documents to move offices. We switch doctors and find out standard procedures for treating/helping with reflux were not followed. Please be aware this medical practice places a high priority on revenue dollars over patient healthcare. My nearly 5 year old daughter has been a patient of Dr Dollins since birth. Rather than to provide a prescription to us for a flu shot easily obtained at any local pharmacy, they will only put her on a wait list which doesn't offer any definitive time line on when a vaccine is available! Not a good experience here. I made the decision to see Dr. Reyes after reading some good reviews online. This is our first baby so we don't know a lot about what we need to expect or things we need to do. He spent a total of 10 minutes with us. I didn't realize until I got home how terrible the experience had been. He didn't check his circumcision, umbilical cord or really anything else aside from fever and jaundice. Come to think of it he didn't even ask if he had been circumcised. His first question to us was how we heard about him, I told him I read some good things about him online. His reaction was baffling to say the least. He acted almost annoyed with that and said "you do one good thing and everyone just raves about you on the internet"... as if that's a bad thing? Well the bad news is you provide just one negative experience and people will also put it out there. When we left he didn't even tell us to call if we needed anything or had any questions. He was very short and very cold. It felt like he didn't want any new patients so maybe if he acted that way we wouldn't be back, and if so that definitely worked! We are driving further to a dr that has been recommended from a friend... not the internet. read more

Dr Dolleens is my childrens' pediatrician and despite her being a great pediatrician, it is extremely hard to see any of the providers for sick calls. I have called when the office opens first thing in the morning on 4 different occasions and I have been directed to the ER since they had no availability. In speaking to others going to her ( friends I referred to the practice) they too have experienced this. I work in healthcare and this place does not seem patient centric. If I am only going to see them once a year for a check,I might as move which I plan to. The friends I referred to have a newborn as don't even get to speak to the pediatrician on days when the practice's triage nurse has called in sick ! They need to put more resources into their practice or stop taking new patients . read more

My child is 9 years old and has seen Dr. Alvis and Dr. Dollins. She has been seen for sick, well and ADD appointments. The staff is excellent. The triage nurse answers my questions in a timely fashion. I appreciate their thoroughness and how they involve the child in the exam when they are old enough. I would recommend them to people with babies through the age of 18. I have heard Dr. Alvis cares for some kids as old as 23, if they went there before! The office is warm and welcoming. After the 4th time of an extremely long wait, lack of care by the doctors in general.

The way Dr. Christine Smith treated us was just plain terrible and awful. This incident happened in October of 2014, so I had a lot of time to think about this, before writing anything. The incident is about firstly how she drew her conclusions about my then 3-year old son's behavior, for which she does not hold a degree, and secondly, for the bill she slapped us with, refusing to address the code issue to submit it to our insurance company. We were there for a REFERRAL and she assumed we were there to evaluate our son, which was completely incorrect, but refused to do right by us. I guess when you are a business and can get more money from your "patients" instead of the insurance companies, then these are the kind of practices you will engage in. We paid our bill in full (not the discounted rate the insurance company would have been able to negotiate), because we had no negotiating power, wrote a letter, which she or anyone in that place never responded to or tried to address. We also initially called 3 times to resolve the issue and the ladies at the front desk have always been amicable and tried to help, but ultimately, it's in the hands of the doctor to make that call and rectify the situation, which she refused to do, because of her arrogance, know-it-all attitude, and lack of concern for our family. I guess that's what you get when you are dealing with a young doctor who is only a couple of years older than your kids... If you want to be treated as people and not cattle, don't ask for her. read more

Done. So done. Went twice last week (Wednesday and Thursday) with our daughter because she was running a fever and experiencing Asthma symptoms. They couldn't figure out why she had a fever, and were on the fence about prescribing an antibiotic as a precaution, but decided against it. On Saturday, our daughter began experiencing severe ear pain in one of her ears (classic ear infection). We call the nurse line to get the antibiotic prescribed, like we have done with any other family practice we have ever been a part of...and we get "Sorry, we don't do that over the phone." We explain that we were there twice last week, paid two co-pays, and Dr. Smith was close to prescribing an antibiotic as a precaution....doesn't matter, we just need to go to urgent care. What's the point of visiting a pediatrician and paying co-pays if all they are going to tell you over the weekend is "sorry, we just don't do that...go somewhere else." There have been other issues over the course of the last year, but this is the last straw. If anyone knows of a better pediatrician office near McKinney, we would love to know. read more

I changed my pediatrician from Carrollton to McKinney and thought these would be good. No way. So I am going back to my more experienced older pediatrician. I think Dr Smith is just there for more copays and office visits without thinking they have seen my child every week for the past 3 weeks and would not prescribe a medicine without seeing her first. In my opinion The same issue creeps up every time since Dr Smith fails to treat it well. She will prescribe the same antibiotic again and again knowing very well it didn't work the first time. I have been fooled again and again and have lost the patience to deal with them. I rather drive the distance than put my child in these inexperienced hands. I have five children and they had been patients of Dr. Alvis for almost 10 years. We moved around and at one point, even lived an hour away, but because of our established history with them, we remained his patients. Of my five kids, two missed an appointment. Not even a week later I got a bill in the mail for $150 because of a no-show fee of $75 and while I was like ok, that's understandable, the other letter said he was terminating us as patients! Are you kidding me? 10 years of being your patients and you terminate us as a family? I couldn't believe it and then when I called to explain who were are and how long we've been with them, the billing lady was nonchalant and unapologetic. I can't believe it. And on top of that in order to get a copy of my kids medical history I now have to pay $25 per child. Unreal! So if you want to be just another "patient" then by all means this is the place, because they definitely aren't in business to maintain or keep lasting relationships. read more

There is an older lady that answers the phone who is rude all the time. While I talked, she cuts in and when I try to explain something, she tells me, "I know!" but in fact, she doesn't. She tends to not listen and insists on what she knows. My husband brought my son to their office one time and he said she was rude to him. He saw that she was nicer to the other people who were not Asian, like we were. It's too sad that Dr. Alvis is a good doctor. If not for the receptionist, we would still be going to him but after talking to ther, we would not set foot at that office again. read more

Im shocked by some of the reviews, we have used Stonebridge peds for 5 years, we see Dr. Dollins and have no complaints. They always get us in when need be, have separate waiting areas for sick and well, and a separate entrance for newborns as well. We have never had unreasonable wait times; Dr Dollins always spends time with the kids and the kids love her, she makes sure everything is understood by us and is clear and concise. They are wonderful about not over-prescribing meds/antibiotics which happens all too often elsewhere. We drive an hour and fifteen minutes after trying four other Dr's in our new town just to see the Dr's at Stonebridge peds. read more

I might update my review once I meet the doctors, but this rating is for the staff so far. I have tried reaching out to them several times through their website and fax. The only way I get any feedback from them or a response is if I call them myself. It's a shame they don't seem to care about online communications as that is the preferred method now a days. Dr. Dollins and the nurse Daphne were horrible to work with. While my child was healthy, Dr. Dollins was fine, but Daphne was always rude every time I called - like she didn't have time for me. The first sign of a problem in my child showed their skills. I called and brought my baby in with the same symptoms 4 times over the course of 2 months. Each time they kept insisting the problem was reflux. I told them both on many occasions I was sure it wasn't. I had seen her reflux when she was first born and had seen her grow out of it. I had witnessed these changes in her every day. I explained every symptom down to the detail, but still, they both insisted it was reflux over and over. I said she was in obvious pain, not reflux. It was not a burning in her throat either. It was stomach pain. Still, they gave me tons of prescriptions for reflux. These did not sit well with my baby. She became lethargic and whimpered for 30 min after taking it. Usually a very hungry baby, she skipped a meal after taking the meds every time. I explained this to them both and Daphne said... (Exact quote), "you need to choose if her symptoms from the medicine are worse than her screaming at night." I asked if it could be one thing, then another, throwing out ideas. No, they said. It's reflux. After 2 months of hoping it would stop and getting no help, I called and told them I was switching her food no matter what they said. Daphne told me the doctor would no longer help me over the phone nor give me a name of an alternative food appropriate for her age. My only option was to come in "for reassurance that it's reflux." I switched doctors, and the first visit, she said it was obvious stomach pain and I needed to switch her food. In 2 days, the baby was fine and had no more problems. Dr. Dollins does not care a thing about mother's intuition or even that she does not know the baby or see the symptoms like the mother does. Once she gets an idea in her head, you are wrong and she is right. She is not willing to try trial and error and she doesn't care if the baby is the one to suffer. read more
