Rant: California Renovation (Cal Reno) and Roseville Carpet One (RCO)…read more Roseville Carpet One owns California Renovation in Chico. If you're looking for floors, carpet or other services look elsewhere. I had my entire house outfitted with 100% waterproof SPC flooring. The product is high quality, the staff at California Renovation are unbelievably the worst. Around a year after the floors were installed, I noticed a big split at the joint pulling up as seen in picture two. Note, the damaged area has a large rug there 365 days of the year unless needed to clean. I called Cal Reno, they sent out there installation manager. He put a moisture tester to the floor, and said "yup, exactly as I expected. The floors are too wet and you're over mopping." Then proceeded to tell me I needed to use a special mop that I hand wring out to wash the floors. Information that was never provided if true. Then quoted me $600 to replace the four boards in that area. I honestly believed them, maybe I was over mopping. Then the floors started getting worse and in areas that have never been mopped. So I started doing my own research. I looked up the my warranty: 25yrs commercial - 50yrs residential. 100% waterproof. The warranty literally says you can spill water on the floor, leave it and it won't damage it. But clean it up in a timely matter to prevent mold. I called Cal Reno back six months later, the installation manager came back out and said the same thing. Proceeded to tell me I'm mopping too wet and I need a special mop. Long story short, I fought with Cal Reno and RCO for months. They refused to submit a claim to Republic flooring. During my research I found the manufacturer rescinded parts of the warranty. Now the floors are warrantied for 25yrs, half of what it was originally. It also mentioned Visqueen, a moisture barrier must be applied before setting the floors, which was never done. I later found out the manufacturer had changed their warranty 8 months after my floors were installed due to moisture issues and several customers, some of whom were Cal Reno or RCO customers had to have their floors replaced. Also, warranty makes no mention of a special mop. Finally, after a lengthy emails stating the facts, hours of research and second opinions, Cal Reno said they would replace the floors "at cost" and come out to measure. I simply replied no and kept fighting, almost needing to go to court. Finally I thought I won, that same installation manager came back out and said, "we are only going to replace the damaged sections, we want to go easy on the manufacturer." I was almost in shock. Whose side are you on? The bill goes to the manufacturer not you guys. I was fed up at this point, was willing to take whatever I could get and thanked him for fighting on my behalf to get the floors replaced. To my disgust he said, "no, we just forwarded your email to the manufacturer and they said yes." All said and done, the whole house was replaced with new floors that had under two years of wear. I went with this company because my neighbor also used them, and unbeknownst to me, they also had issues they fought for months with their carpet. This was after my contract was in place. The first and second pictures have rugs all year round except for cleaning. Last picture shows the mold and mildew after the floors were taken out. They even had to go back and fill in more cracks in the foundation, with lots of rework. Overall, the floors are great, warranty is(was) amazing, but this company sucks. Doesn't care about you, the hard earned money you spent and will not help you if you have issues. Go elsewhere.

I guess I got what I paid for. I paid $1700 for laminate countertops. I like the countertops, they…read moreare exactly what I was expecting. The installation on the other hand is ridiculously amateurish. Where the counter turns at the elbow of the counter does not line up with the corner at all. The wall/sink side was made entirely too short, resulting not just in the corner not lining up but also in the extra wide top of the backsplash. Cartoonish-ly wide top of the backsplash, it is significantly wider than the top of the rest of the backsplash. The reveal on the wall/sink side is barely over the edge of the counter, showing most of my drawer pulls on the long L side the drawer pulls cannot be seen at all. The difference in the reveals is almost an inch. When my husband called him today, he said I should have said something yesterday. I didn't say anything yesterday because 1.) I tend to be very harsh and do not temper my words well, 2.) my husband was not home and had not seen it yet, 3.) I am not a countertop maker or installer and wanted to discuss it with my husband to first to make sure that I was not being unreasonable, 4.) I would expect a professional to SEE that he was doing a horrible job, stop and fix it. #4 is my mistake, I presumed he knew what he was doing. Another reason for the low stars, he stood me up for my first appointment to discuss countertops, he didn't bring any samples for the type of countertop I wanted because he didn't ask my husband what we were looking for during the initial phone conversation, he said I would receive my countertops in approximately 3 weeks, it was twice that, he made an appointment me with us for the 23rd but when we called to confirm he said he thought it was for the 30th. I had to reschedule with the plumber, I am happy we called to confirm or he would have stood me up again. On the 30th, I was told 10ish he called at 10 to say he was running late, he arrived after 11:15. He clearly does not value other people's times. I love my countertops, but I am horrified by the installation.

We were stoked to move into our new house by May 18th and trusted them to handle the floors, kitchen countertops, and shower tile while we weren't around. Big mistake. We started noticing red flags when we'd swing by after the crew left. My husband's tools went missing, and we found empty alcohol cans all over the property--one even turned into a homemade pipe for who-knows-what. The crew pooped in the corner of our backyard and left toilet paper on the ground! We told Francisco, the guy in charge, and he basically shrugged it off. We got our tools back, but that was a huge red flag. Then the real mess started. They botched the shower wall measurements, leaving a gap at the top, and tried to hide it with a tiny strip of tile that looked awful. When we called them out, they suggested slapping more tile over it like a cheap fix. No way. When they started pulling the tiles off, we saw they used globs of caulk instead of proper thin-set mortar. Shady and unprofessional--makes you wonder how many people get this kind of garbage work without knowing. By move-in day, we had no working shower. Awesome, right? Their second try they spent an hour scribbling measurements on the tiles, erasing, and rewriting like they had no clue what they were doing. Then they cracked a big porcelain tile by cutting it dry (it's supposed to be cut wet). Francisco fessed up to the crack but had the nerve to ask if we'd use the damaged tile. Seriously? By the third attempt, I was done. I had to watch them like a hawk. They were about to tile again without smoothing the surface from the tile they pulled off or adding a second layer of waterproofing, leaving holes in the membrane. I had to use my phone to translate and make them do it right. If I hadn't babysat every step, it would've been a total failure. Again. The job finally got done on May 21st--which seemed rushed. Then they had the audacity to ask for an extra $500. We told them to get lost. They're lucky we paid the last $1,000. Don't hire Bellagio Granite and Quartz unless you want to deal with a crew that doesn't speak English, drinks on the job, takes your stuff, and half-asses everything. Save yourself the stress and find someone who actually cares about doing the job right.
