So glad I found this place! Very warm and cute inside, great coffee, service was friendly. I arrived pretty soon after opening and there was quickly a line, as I ate it got longer and longer. This was on a Saturday morning. But they get everyone through quickly and efficiently. My smallest one loved her ham and cheese croissant, it was so flaky and buttery- I don't even like ham and I enjoyed my stolen bites. My spinach feta quiche was very tasty but a little on the salty side. Loved the pumpkin scone- if you're like Larry David, this is a true scone, not to be confused with a muffin. Thick in the middle, crunchy corners, mild pumpkin spice flavors. The sourdough loaf we brought home was perfect. Love that you can walk to the library from here. Bonus. We will be back! read more

I love Stone Oven Bakery! It's always such a treat when I get to stop in and grab a few pastries. On this visit I got a glazed butter croissant and some type of cinnamon sugar bun I believe. Both were delicious and devoured in the car before I got to my destination. They are always well staffed so service is quick. I love the stone oven! The food is so good and fresh. I just recently started working in the area, and it was suggested that I go and try it out. I have probably eaten most things on the menu by now, but the curry chicken sandwich is my favorite. They have many pastries, sandwiches, salads, and soups; you name it, the place is excellent, with fresh bread and a small breakfast menu, but still very delicious. This place has great pastries, the Russian tea biscuits are a super secret yummy thing to try but you need to come early to get some! They have solid coffee, tea and drinks hot and cold to complete their goodies. They also make hot breakfast sandwiches which look great. There is seating that is hightop or eight tables. I am visiting family and friends in Cleveland. Had free time so grabbing lunch before seeing a movie. I was looking for a place to grab a salad. Walking into Stone Oven Bakery there was a short line, as I arrived during the lunch rush. The line quickly moved and cafe worker took my order. There are a lot of bakery, sandwich and salad options. I settled on the Chicken Romaine Salad. I also ordered an Iced Coffee. The coffee was ready right away while I waited a couple of minutes for my salad. The salad included a slice of fresh bread, which was delicious. Chicken, cucumbers, red peppers and croutons were stacked on the salad. It came wear balsamic vinaigrette. Everything worked well together and I enjoyed the salad. This is definitely a good stop if you are in the Cedar Lee area. I don't often come to this area but it is a nice spot. read more

Stone Oven has wonderful food, lunch, breakfast, pastries, coffees. I've been a customer for many years and have always had a great experience in every way. Today was different- I went in to get a loaf of bread, around 3 pm on a Sunday. When I asked about getting a loaf I was told by one employee that the regular loaves were sold, the ones that were left were for making sandwiches, they said they would ask the manager if they could sell one. Another employee immediately added "It's probably going to be no". Rude, right? The first employee went and asked the manager, came back to me to let me know that the larger loaf is more expensive, and was that going to be okay. It was okay. I bought the larger more expensive loaf. Try to be a little bit nicer, I was asking for a product that you not only provide, but that is a huge part of your bakery. Maybe something like, "let me see what I can do". I wonder how many other customers are getting this kind of treatment. read more

I placed my order online and arrive 25 minutes later to pick it up, just a simple salad. After waiting patiently for 15 minutes, I asked the girl behind the counter whether they had an order for me and she said yes, but they're really backed up. I've been waited an additional 10 minutes and I could still see my ticket hung up, waiting for somebody to put a salad together to hand to me. I should note I was also the only one still waiting for my food, considering everybody that had come in and ordered in person had already received their food and were diligently eating. I understand that you could get slammed during a lunch hour, but waiting over 20 minutes seems highly unreasonable. And when I finally got my food, I didn't even get an apology for waiting so long. I drove 1 hour and 5 minutes to The Stone Oven on a personal quest to find an establishment who could reproduce a Breton Kouign Amann that I tried in Paris, France. This buttery treat was one of the best things that I have tried and I'm sure one of the unhealthiest. I've even tried ordering these tasty treats online and unfortunately, none of them look like the Kouign Amann I tried in Paris; which were rolled a less than an inch thick and approximately 5 inches in a circular diameter. So after some investigation I noticed this item appeared on the menu and I had to take a chance. I found a 15 minute parking space just out front on a 12:00 pm Saturday. Inside was pretty full and you really couldn't tell where to start or where the line began. I had to figure it out by noting where the registers were. I was pleasantly approached by a young lady asking what I would like and I scanned the the entire area not noticing what I was looking for so I asked for the Kouign Amann and she said I have 2 left. I instantly said, "I'll take them and to my surprise they looked like a flowery croissant that was baked in a pan with a sugary top. The one I tried in Paris had a Caramelized bottom. I decided to try other items such as the ham and cheese and a few glazed croissants. Although these Kouign Amann's weren't exactly what I expected that were still good. She boxed everything up for me and had me rung up within 2 minutes. If I lived locally, I would definitely check out other items. read more

The problem with reviews if you don't get a second response for the half assed response given by the place of business. Ask your servers for help I couldn't get one to look at me. Except for the one of the cash register who kept looking at me every time she finished an order. Never asked me. Again, all you need to do with the back door is to put up a sign that says go to the front door. You don't have that. That's why I'm not coming back because you don't listen to your customers. There's no signage that I could see as to where to stand to make an order. So I stood as close to somebody who I thought was in line as possible. Not good enough. These people are flying around like chickens with their heads cut off. They never looked at me. They just went right down the line and says who can I help not where I was. Never looked at anybody just shouted it out and then they wash their hands like Pilate and say no mea culpa here. It's not like it's the most necessary menu in the world to sample. So I don't think I'm missing too much. Parking is difficult. The spaces are small and you're gonna get your car dinged every time you're there. Just food for thought before you have food that you can't order. But as I always say it's always about service and service is always about signage. We were staying in an Airbnb in Cleveland Heights while on vacation and, of course, had to scope out the nearest coffee shop, so we headed to Stone Oven. We were disappointed their espresso machine was out of order but figured we could get regular coffees. I ordered the scrambled eggs with mushrooms, sausage, and cheddar. It came with multigrain toast. I got a decaf iced coffee and a piece of pecan coffee cake. Christopher got the challah French toast and a cold brew. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer that will go off when your food is ready. Meanwhile, you must wait at the counter for your drinks. I grabbed a table (there are many, including long high tops) and Christopher returns with his drink but tells me I must see the server about my decaf. It seems they use the espresso machine to make iced decaf. I told her to just put ice in hot decaf. It was very nice. My food was very good. I loved the eggs. One downside is they don't butter your hot toast so it came out dry. They didn't give us any butter so we had to ask for it. Therefore, the butter wasn't all melts like I like. It still was very good! Christopher really liked his French toast. Christopher got a lemon muffin, which was delicious. My coffee cake was good. We liked the place so much we went back the next day, too. This time, I got the yogurt with granola, which was terrific! Loved all the coconut and dried fruit in it. Christopher got the scrambled eggs with tomatoes, onions, and cheese. I got a hot coffee this time and, I'm sorry to say, it didn't have much flavor. Stone Oven is bustling. I'm still working my way through their entire bread selection. So far, my favorite artisan bread is the Miller's Multigrain. It contains whole wheat flour, sunflower kernels, sesame seeds, flax seeds, oat groats, and honey. They have a nice selection of pastries. My favorite are their tea biscuits. It's layers of flakey dough with different flavor fillings (like apricot, poppyseed, or chocolate) stuffed in between. It's quite large and lasts me two days, and is great on it's own, dipped in coffee, or alongside tea. read more

I keep seeing rave reviews about The Stone Oven, so I had to give it a try. The last time I tried it was at the beginning of the pandemic, and my friend and I didn't get to the bakery until 1PM so the pastries seemed a little stale. This time I went a little before 10AM...but the pastries still didn't have the flakiness I was expecting. The mushroom gruyere was on the cold side and the filling ran a bit mushy. However, I went home and popped the baguette in the toaster over with some rosemary cheese and tomato soup and it was the fanciest thing ever, so maybe this is just one of those bakeries that needs a bit of reheating. read more

On 4/10/23 The service at this location is the worst I've ever seen. I place my order online for pick up, which was ready at the time specified. However, when you order hot drinks they wait until you arrive to make them and understandably so. Upon picking up the order I went to the counter to inform the staff that I had two coffees with my online order. Keep in mind that these coffees are medium decaf with oat milk and caramel. The young man proceeds to look at my receipt and then turns to pour two regular coffees and handed them to me. I said excuse me, these were supposed to be decaf. He again turns to pour two decafs and handed them to me. Again, I said, with carmel and oat milk. He then proceeds to pump the caramel into the cups right in front of me and then reaches to get the oat milk and told me to pour it myself. How rude, unsanitary and unprofessional! We had to come home and heat our coffees in the microwave after being made to pour cold oat milk into our hot coffee. My daughter wanted to go to Starbucks but I decided to order coffee from Stone Oven with our breakfast as I often do. Now she's like, see, I told you to go to Starbucks. I've been patronizing this location for many years and have been served by some of the nicest people and at times some of the nastiest and most unprofessional people and today's visit was the latter. Stone Oven is located in the Cedar Lee business district with a nice storefront. During the pandemic they are providing takeout and have the front and rear patios available; they are not permitting any in store dining. Guests are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. Stone Oven provides many options depending on what you are looking for; they are a bakery, a cafe and a coffee house. They do a great job with everything providing simple straightforward food at a reasonable price. The food is principally soups, salads and sandwiches all of which are nicely made and filling. The baked goods are hearty and tasty. Service is prompt and friendly, food is good and atmosphere is relaxed, what more could you ask for. read more

The pesto complimented the gooey egg and flaky crust perfectly. And the runny egg yolk served warm was literally all I want in my breakfast. Don't sleep on it!!!!
