Me and my friend , the line dance instructor
    Zakiyyah B.

I visit his place for the first time yesterday to attend a line dance class. The first thing I noticed was the ambiance. It was bright, colorful and inviting. Very cute and cozy. My daughter ordered ice cream and said it was really good. The owner was there and was very friendly and made us feel comfortable. I will definitely be returning for more activities or just to hang out. Next time I go I will be trying their food and beverages. Great vibes!

Great vibe, welcoming service, delicious coffee. Spent a cozy couple hours here with a friend. I'll be back.

We walked in to be greeted warmly by a man working behind the counter. It was very welcoming! However, none of the other employees were very friendly, almost standoffish. Looking at the menu, it seemed very straight and to the point. (No seasonal drinks or anything). And there was a variety of breakfast and lunch options, which all seemed very fresh-sounding! My husband got a chai latte and it was delicious!! I got a vanilla latte and it tasted more like a cappuccino. It wasn't sweet at all and I couldn't taste the vanilla. There were plenty of different seating areas. I loved the cozy area by the fire pit. The whole place was styled really nice. Overall, I'd give this place another try, but I've definitely been to places that are a lot better !

(It could have been earlier but my 5 star review of this place 16 years ago is an objective starting point). Although I have spent much of the past 23 years living in various places outside of both Cleveland and Ohio, I'm a born and raised East Side Clevelander. And whenever I resettle in the area, I always find myself gravitating back to Algebra Tea House for the good vibes. In the past several months that I have been visiting, I'm happy to see the place really feels like a cultural community hub and an outright neighborhood institution. Over the years, many unique small businesses that have shuttered operations in Coventry (China Treasure House, Big Fun, Record Revolution, La Cave du Vin), Cedar-Fairmount (Nighttown). I'm so happy to see that Algebra Tea House is thriving and continuing to create a unique and inviting environment for the neighborhood. I love the unpretentious and lo-fi atmosphere and operation. I love the DIY craftsmanship that permeates in every aspect of the business. The food and beverage options are also quite good. Although I haven't been around for many years, I think maybe there are more offerings on the menu these days. I especially love the vegetable stews on their chalkboard menu and the foul madamas (fava beans). Service is lo-fi and very casual. Just place your order at the counter. It is written on a scratch pad. Sit down and be patient. The food or beverage will then be delivered to your table. Pay on your way out. Bring cash if you want to avoid a credit card transaction fee.

You order at the counter and then they bring the food and drinks to your table and you pay on the way out. Interior decor is eclectic and fun to look at and the mugs are all unique which makes fun a nice and funky aesthetic...we loved it. Service was really friendly too. There were so many items on the menu that looked amazing - it was hard to choose just one! I ended up going for that hummus sandwich (more of a wrap, really) and subbed tomatoes for black and green olives and got the cafe algebra to drink. My friend chose the white pizza and the hibiscus tea. Food came out pretty quickly and everything was good! The hummus was creamy and delicious and the harissa was great too...the olives were excellent as well! My friend enjoyed her pizza and the hibiscus tea was so flavorful. I wasn't a fan of the cafe algebra, but that was just personal preference. I will be back to try more of the menu for sure! Thank you, Algebra Tea House!

Tucked in Coventry neighborhood, there's Phoenix Coffee. The first thing you notice walking in is the vibe -- warm exposed brick walls, quirky and ever-changing local art (currently fairytale motif), and the smell of seriously strong, seriously good coffee. The Siren Eclipse art on the wall is alone worth the visit. And the scones? Unreal. Flaky, buttery, and somehow always fresh out of the oven. Really probably the best around. There's also other breakfast snacks like muffins and such. Very limited options but very tasty. Bonus points for the greenery -- the place doubles as a mini plant shop. There's a few leafy ones you can pick up. I got large drip coffee while I was there and it perfectly strong. There's two size options, light or dark roast. The menu also features some seasonal favorites. I had recently spring matcha there that was so vibrantly green. There's also a pretty extensive tea assortment. For warmer months, consider seating outside. They have very fun and aesthetically pleasing wooden benches. Street parking is available in the area but it gets busy. Try parking garage on the street to park. It's free to use.

Favorites include their savory baked goods and cookies When it comes to lattes, so far I've liked their cinnamon brown sugar, and seasonal matchas (the coconut matcha a couple months back was good). It's good as dine-in (plenty of seating inside and outside, though still quite full on the weekends) and as take-out. Plenty of free parking available in a lot. Staff are friendly. Also last month I tried their restaurant week special (includes latte, panini, and choice of cookie or macaron). Ended up choosing the brown sugar latte (opted for oat milk), corned beef panini and gingerbread molasses cookie. All were good, the favorite and definitely would get again would be the latte. Also if you use the too good to go app, I love their bags (such a good variety with amazing value) which sell out in minutes. Definitely in my list of regular places to stop by.

As we were driving through Cleveland, we decided to stop and get a drink. Oolong Milk Tea, Large, 50% Sweet, Less Ice w/ Boba ($6.60) - The tea was way oversteeped, resulting in a very roasted, almost burnt taste. I asked for half sweet, but the sweetness level came out at around quarter sweet if compared to other boba shops. The boba was not good - I could tell it was honey soaked, but it was not cooked nearly enough. Quite hard and not a great texture. What happened to this Kung Fu Tea location? It used to be so good and now it's very mediocre. Then again, this might be a company-wide issue with Kung Fu Tea. Since the pandemic, I've been to multiple locations and I have not been impressed with any of them. I definitely do not recommend this place. I might have to swear off trying other KFT locations too given that it seems like their tea and boba is consistently disappointing.

This location in particular makes solid bubble tea, though my biggest gripe is that the wait time is always very long. My go to bubble teas here are the winter melon milk tea, the oolong milk tea, as well as a variety of the fruit teas.
