Yesterday we spent $70 (plus tip) on worthless, tasteless, cold, rubbery sub bread, dried out steak and mediocre (maybe) gyro. We ordered 3 subs, fries and 1 gyro all bad. I ordered 1 large Artichoke pizza, 1 small Tandoori, and 1 small Bounty Garden. It came to $46.48. My husband and I ordered through Uber eats for pizza on a Saturday night. A large pizza is what we decided on spicy chicken style aka buffalo chicken. A large us normally $18 and change but since I had a $6 credit from a prior late delivery (different establishment) it cost around $13. That's about all this pizza was worth and I'd have been unhappy paying full price. While the pizza arrived hot, the cheese was like it had been sitting out melting for awhile and was not nearly enough for this size pie. The serving portion of chicken was meager as was the celery. Tried to throw them in the oven to actually try to eat them, they just turned into a greasy mess and I tried to season them. Nothing helped. The pizza, uggh. Soggy, tasteless, and just awful. Ate some of it and threw the rest in the trash. The side salad, gotta love the pride here, a bunch of brown stem pieces of lettuce thrown together with red onions and peppers. Stopped in to eat after taking the kids to Chessie's. I hadn't actually read the reviews or info to see it's not a sit-down place...so there wasn't much room to sit. They have two bar-height tables against one wall with three bar stools each and then four round tables with some bench seating and chairs. I ordered from them on Grubhub in July. I am on Franconia about a mile west of Telegraph and I had the meal in about 45 minutes. I got the Italian Job sandwich (interesting name so I had to try it, $8.75), a chocolate fondant cake ($4.25), a can of Dr. Pepper ($1.35), and some hummus ($4.95). The "Italian Job" sounds like a mob hit. The sandwich had a baguette, mortadella, rosmarino, fig preserve, pecorino cheese, olive oil, Dijon mustard, garlic, arugula, and seasoning (https://food52.com/recipes/30886-the-italian-job). The meats, the cheeses, and the garlic are what combine to make the sandwich. I have had other Italian jobs with green chili peppers, but this didn't have them. The ingredients were fresh. The fondant cake was a dark chocolate cake with hot chocolate fudge on it. A calorie bomb to say the least. It was pretty decadent, but that's the way I like it. This pizzeria offers brick-oven pizzas, calzones, sandwiches, pastas, and even appetizers (like wings). This time around, I tried the BBQ Chicken - this came with diced chicken, BBQ sauce (which I requested extra of), diced tomatoes, red onions, sliced scallions, cheddar, and mozzarella cheeses. Yum! I was pleasantly surprised at how good this was, where the dough/crust was not too thick; I also appreciated that the chunks of chicken were not too overwhelming, but were diced up and spread apart nicely, so that each bite guaranteed some of the meat. I really liked the sweet and thick BBQ sauce, and enjoyed the onion and the sliced scallions combo. I also tried some of the regular cheese pizza, and this was pretty good, too, as the cheese was quite generous in amount. I specifically downloaded Yelp so I could write a review. Sigh. I really wanted to like it here. It is a local business down the street from my house. And we have ordered from SHP in the past and it was "fine" not great and a bit expensive, but fine. The reason we ordered here last Friday was because my daughter wanted bread sticks - not cheesy bread or pizza dough that had been sliced into pieces. And SHP's website had what we wanted (vs other local locations). We did an online order for a large pepperoni pizza, breadsticks, and an order of wings. The cost was $47, pricy for what we got but, again, a local business so I was ok with it. I got my text confirmation and I was satisfied. 45 minutes went by and we hadn't heard anything. Given it was a rainy Friday, I gave the place the benefit of the doubt since I guessed many people were ordering pizza. At 55 minutes, I called them... No one had checked the online order queue... and they didn't even know our order was placed. The guy said they were putting it in right now and it would be out to us in about 15 minutes. Great, ok. No biggie. 20 minutes goes by. Nothing. At 30 minutes, I called back. They didn't know where my order was... finally they told me it was being put into the delivery car and would be at my place in a few minutes. Keep in mind, I can walk to this place in 7 minutes.... 15 minutes, no delivery. After 20 minutes, my husband called the store to get stern. They said that there were orders ahead of ours that were to be delivered and that they told me that. They did not tell me that. They had told me it was on it's way, being put into the car. On my husbands conversation with them, they tried to back pedal and put it on me that I had not heard them correctly. Now this is 2 full hours after I had placed my simple order online from a place 0.25 miles away. And they were putting their failure on me who had been polite and understanding... to a point. My husband had to basically yell (something we hate doing) and told them that the pizza needs to be at our front door in 3 minutes or to just give us our $50 back. Funny enough, the pizza then arrived in 3 minutes. We were told we had been given a 30% coupon for our next order. Laughable. My kids were elated and devoured the pizza, despite it being just warm not piping hot as it should have been. But the breadsticks, the very reason we ordered from SHP in the first place, was cut up pizza dough, very thing I was trying to avoid. And, another kicker, was that I had ordered the "New York style" crust which is their traditional crust. I opted not to get the thin crust (my husband hates that). But guess what we got? Thin crust. It would have been a bit better if the pizza had been good, but it was barely average - I really wanted to like it after all that and to say it was all worth it. Alas. SHP clearly needs a new online system so they don't miss orders and needs a refresher course in how to expedite orders and customer service when it's taken A VERY LONG time to get an order out. Perhaps ANOTHER change in management is needed. I would go back if that happened - I would to love this place. But I just can't. read more

When I called she just kept saying "no delivery today," and I kept explaining that I ordered and paid online two hours prior. Once she finally understood she was apologetic, but then they never refunded my payment as requested. If they can't deliver, they shouldn't offer the option online.
