They seem to have at least three sales staff that are always here, and they all acknowledge you and ask if you need help. Kal(Khaled) was the guy that helped me and was really nice without any pressure. He understood I needed some items today or fast and helped to call for expedited delivery. Then I returned a few days later to return a tap because my plumber needed another style set up, and he remembered me and offered to exchange to another item, as the refund policy is strict here. They have a house brand called Royal, which syle looks like another premier brand but for way less, and it feels really solid, full of metal not plastic parts like you get at a big box store. Lots of high end bathroom plumbing parts, free standing, bath tubs, toilets, bowl sinks and vanities on sale over the winter. My work colleague did warn me, she also bought from them at this sale, and a small piece was missing from her shower set in the sealed box. When she asked for them to help they referred her to the company(Grohe in this example) as they are the ones who packed the boxes and can send the replacement/missing pieces and not this store. I can see why this would upset customers, but Home Depot would do the same. So far so good, happy with my purchases on plumbing hardware.

I noticed in my inbox that Bed Bath & Beyond had a $20 coupon of an entire order. I decided to use it towards my new Sodastream machine. I also ordered a bottle of raspberry mint syrup to get started on my adventure making fizzy drinks. I ordered online and used my coupon to get $20 off my order. I chose to pick up both items. The minor problem? The Sodastream model that I wanted was available at my local Markham location and not at this store. My raspberry mint syrup was in stock here, but not at the Markham store. Yes, I visited two different Bed Bath & Beyond stores within two hours. It was nice getting reacquainted with them. This store is with a bunch of box stores, including Winners, PetSmart, Best Buy, and more. There was plenty of parking on a Saturday afternoon. I browsed around the store. It was clean and bright. I looked at hand sanitizer and masks, and planted myself in the small appliances section for the longest time. I went to the pickup counter. My wait wasn't long. I gave the woman my name and a brief description of my item. She went to a couple of locked cabinets to fetch my bottle of beverage syrup. I provided photo ID (yay to an expired driver's licence that is valid these days during this pandemic) and the bottle was mine. I thanked her and left. On my way out the door, I was mesmerized by a cute Sun Bum ape mascot holding a tube of lip balm. I looked like such a tourist taking a photo of him. Sadly, he wasn't for sale. I have been in Lowe's a couple of times and know why I returned. The little competition that does…read moreexist is (almost) as lousy as this company. Not being a handyman, pro or contractor I usually need help and would appreciate someone to answer questions, guide me and point me towards the product I need to buy. Finding help at Lowe's is like finding care for the planet at a convoy mob blockade. Seriously, do these chains know how much more money they would make if they had help for their would-be customers? A lack of employees is par for the course. Canadian Tire is not any better. What makes Lowe's worse is the zombie cashiers. I am not sure if they punp sleeping gas through the employee dining room or hire numb undead as cashiers as a matter of policy, but my most recent experience reminded me of my last six or so month ago: cashier with no energy who cannot move a limb, staring vacuously at an indeterminant point in space that therefore needs prompting to lift the scanner let alone say complicated verbosity like 'hello' or 'thank-you.' To boot, there is a lack of selection at Lowe's. They do not offer customers choice. They have typically one brand/size of everything. I am upgrading. Canadian Tire I am coming! I recommend Lowe's to two groups only: Secret shoppers and Labour Management professors. The former would throw in the towel and break down, while the latter would find enough material for a book just in one trip.
