We went to the larger places first and the quartz they had all looked like the machine had taken a stamp and repeated it over and over on the piece. Beyond thankful I chose stones edge for my kitchen reno. I started my search on yelp, as I live in the west loop and had no idea where to go for custom quartz countertops. After calling to check when I could come to the warehouse (wasn't sure if needed appt), Peters wife, Yolanda said I could stop by that very day. I met Peter as he was in middle of carving quartz and shared what I was thinking -- he immediately led me to the exact color I was looking for -- a truer white with fine grey lines. It was actually their own quartz creation although he showed me the major name brands (they offer them all) but they were all too beige. I will say it did help to know the color & style I wanted --Peter hands down knows quartz and his confident direction made the process so much easier. I paid a down payment, scheduled measurements 2 weeks out, then the install was 2 weeks out from measure. They are a smaller shop, which makes them a true find -- they are diligent with their measurements (using a laser) and they truly care about the work they do. In March and April of 2021, I worked with Darek Widlak of Stone Edge to research, choose, measure and install a quartz kitchen countertop. After visiting a number of stone wholesalers and installers in the city and suburbs, I found Darek at Stone Edge to be the most complete. Stone Edge has a large selection of quartz stone slabs. This review is long overdue. About 1.5 ago, I got my counters in my two bathroom replaced by Peter. This was my first counter purchase. I shopped around at a few places. There is nothing fancy about his store but his staff and him were very easy to work with and provided a great quartz counters at an amazing price. They have a side yard with some remnants if you are looking for a one off piece for a small area. There were some amazing and unique options in the side yard. I was looking for a pure white quartz and a white quartz with some grey/black veining. Wonderful experience! I went to Stone Edge based on a recommendation from a friend in the neighborhood and I'm so glad I did! I dropped in to their location on Hubbard without an appointment and while it was a bit confusing at first (they make and cut the quartz there so the machines and forklifts are there) Derek quickly greeted me and helped walk me through their slabs. I showed him a picture of our kitchen and he made a few recommendations. From there, he gave me a rough estimate and scheduled time to take exact measurements at our house. Within 1 week, we had brand new beautiful countertops fully installed and ready to use! They also installed a new drop-in sink and hauled out all of our old stuff. I am doing a full renovation for my personal house, and this company (these guys) were the ONLY contractors that were absolutely "no hassle"". They had the most amazing choices of quartz (that looks like marble) and since I stopped by their location, I got to see the super high quality, (high investment), computerized laser cutting equipment they are using - it's also a good reason why I went with them instead of a number of other companies I checked out. Derek let me see the large slabs that I could choose from and gave me a totally fair (and in my opinion - totally HIGH VALUE) price for my job within a matter of minutes as I came in with some general measurements of my kitchen. I worked with both Pitor ("Peter"), and Dariusz ("Derek") - and it is obvious that they know stone. I think they have been in business with each other for over 20 years! I felt 100% comfortable having Peter in my home measuring. I also got to see why it is that it REALLY makes a difference to have the measurements done with a laser in our home. We have a peninsula that points out at a slight angle - and normal measurements don't accurately get all of that detail. He was also able to see that the prior granite installers hadn't measured properly - spotting the small inaccuracies which ended up in us having large gaps near our stove, for instance. I am SUPER PICKY, and very frugal - Stone Edge is a top choice in my book. I think it is also important to note - Derek worked up my price with a sink included, with the removal / haul away of my current countertop, and was able to give me the install date I needed. They will install the sink as well. Make sure that if you shop around, you compare all that the company is offering - this "all in one" service made Stone Edge the easiest contractor / company that I worked with during this remodel (out of 8 or 9 so far!) read more

Piotr and his crew did excellent work on the countertops for my kitchen this spring. I wanted soapstone, which many don't do. Not only was he familiar but had some in stock. He was easy to work with, accommodated a few special requests, and handled the tricky bits perfectly. His expertise really showed during the layout. The sink in my installation was a bit larger than it should have been, so it was critical that the stone fit the contour exactly - and they nailed it on the first try. Everything came out just the way I wanted it, even some unusual parts of the layout. While the price was not cheap, it was a great value. My kitchen looks fantastic! So many fabricators are used to only granite and don't understand soapstone is quite different. It became clear to me that everyone there understands working with soapstone and many other types. Stone Edge has a huge variety in their showroom, including a beautiful onyx table. I sent quote requests to 5 different companies that got great Yelp reviews and Stone Edge had the best pricing and customer service. After describing what I wanted (white quartz countertop with speckles), Yolanda was great by emailing me pictures of my options along with an en estimate. I found Stone Edge to be very competitively priced, especially since I went with their house quartz material for added savings. After my initial conversation with Yolanda, I was able to view the slab in the warehouse before proceeding and was appreciative of that since this particular slab was not available as samples. As for the actual fabrication, I was very impressed. My kitchen design was mostly straight forward with exception to a ledge within an exposed brick wall opening. Darek did a great job measuring so the countertop and ledge would be one piece rather than two, and was so precise that the two installers needed only to chisel a little mortar for a tight fit. Since I installed my own cabinets, they went above and beyond, ensuring the cabinets were level to receive the countertop.
