    Nachos
    Ashley R.

Came here after a concert because this was the closest thing open late downtown. It was very crowded and the wait was about 20 minutes for food. I ordered nachos thinking it would be quick but still a long wait. Not a big deal. The seating area was big enough for a typical day but since this was after a concert, the seating was limited. The staff was nice. My nachos were really good. I asked for beef but I think it was gyro meat and it was so good. My friend ordered shrimp and really enjoyed them as well. We would come back if we are in the area.

Stopped in on a whim and ended up finding one of those hidden-in-plain-sight gems. The bowl I ordered was next-level good -- fresh, perfectly seasoned, and built like someone actually cared about flavor, not just filling space. The textures danced -- crisp, creamy, hearty -- and each bite felt like it was designed to make you smile. You can taste the pride that goes into the food here. I'm still thinking about that bowl the next morning -- that's how you know it hit right. But the real highlight? Jay -- the absolute rockstar behind the counter. This guy is what customer service should look like. He's quick, sharp, and brings that kind of energy that makes you feel like you're the reason he showed up to work. He nailed the balance between professional and genuinely cool, checked in mid-meal, and somehow made a counter order feel like fine dining. Jay turned a simple meal into something memorable -- not many people can do that. If every spot had a "Jay," eating out would always be this good. Great food, even better people. STL City Grill just jumped to the top of my downtown list. I'm telling everyone I know -- skip the chains and come here instead. -- Terry

The customer service was great, the area was clean and it felt safe. They have a variety of exotic drinks and slushies!

I recently tried the ribeye and for being a brewery even the steak was juicy, tender and cooked to perfection. The tap room is also centrally located and easy to get to. We sat there for hours as I enjoyed a few of their beers and she sipped vodka. It's been a favorite place for us to visit when we come in town since then. We have been for brunch and drinks here and there, but this time was our first lunch. The beer list is diverse and very good. I haven't had a bad one yet, and I've tried anything from IPAs to seasonals. The burger with BBQ also did not disappoint! The fries are some of the best I've had in STL. I did wish there were more of them, but it's probably best for me to not have an endless amount. Every time we have gone, the servers and bartenders have been attentive and friendly. We have gone in the middle of the afternoon and late at night, and always enjoyed the company. Usually we sit at the bar and make friends with fellow drinkers. The outside area for brunch is also very enjoyable. It's one of my favorite patios when the weather is nice. There are many good establishments to visit at and around Lafayette Square. For a meal or a drink, I can't recommend this place enough.

I ordered their pork chop, which came with asparagus and layered potatoes. The pork chop was served with a chutney sauce made from apricot, black, and golden raisins. This pork chop is somewhat unique to St. Louis; it's a huge bone-in chop, nothing in Naples, FL can compare. My chop was cooked perfectly. Now, as to never being here, I am exiting the building. There is a small dining area with an Irish band playing. I turned to my son and said I had been here before, pointed to the table I sat at, and told him I had Irish stew. It was in my drinking days, and I am sure I sang all the tunes with the band.

But guess what we enjoyed our table conversations while the drinks were routinely refreshed and when the food arrived it was perfect. While "just basic bar sandwiches and a burger " everything was prepared as ordered. The appropriate temps. Mostly importantly it was just good tasting.
