Fancy restaurant located in Yorkville and upstairs accessible by the stairs or elevator. The host/hostess is there to take you to your seat. The place has a lot of seats and a few private rooms with sliding doors. We sat at the bar first while they prepped our room as it wasn't ready yet (reservation was for 8:30pm, I arrived late at 9pm). We got some espresso martini which was quite delicious actually. Got two bottles of grey goose and the waitress came in the private room with sparklers as if we were in a club. We had to leave here but the waitress did spoil the surprise announcement my sister was going to make. She's sweet though so it's alright. We also ordered just a salad and fries because we had to speed off to another restaurant to join another party. It was actually really good, not gonna lie. Made it better that we were there when the fireworks went off over the Falls. The food was amazing. The steak was thick and delicious. The Lobster Pasta was good. It had plenty of lobster in it. The shrimp scampi was cooked to perfection. Also the Corn Pudding was sweet and buttery. It stole the show for me. If I had anything slightly not great it would be the Brussel Sprouts. They were ok. Came here again for Christmas Day. Venue 5/5 Ambiance and the energy level is amazing as always. They had the place full of festive decor. Service 3/5 As it was Christmas Day, the restaurant was actually overbooked so despite coming earlier for the reservation, we still had to wait an additional 20 minutes before being seated at our table. It took some time for the server to come around and take our order so we got a drink in the meantime. Food 4/5 Ordered the porterhouse with the truffle butter add-on because they bring out the torch to melt the truffle butter for the presentation. The porterhouse comes with two sauces that you can choose from at no additional charge and we got a side of mac & cheese. Started as well with the fried calamari. Overall, the restaurant is great. The best thing about STK was their playlist - I didn't see a live DJ, but it was all very old school hip hop with a newish almost EDM vibe. So much so I tried to find their playlist online. The food however - ugh. The free bread I didn't like at all - a little too "sour"dough but that's fine, it's free. The sides were solid. My steak was overcooked and the crab topping (Oscar style) was chewy. And we waited 10+ mins for refills. Wine list is good. The service was great. The steak was the worst I ever had in my life. And I've had a lot of steak. I had one bite and thought meh. I had another bite, and while I was chewing that one I cut my third. And then I just stopped. I looked at the steak and thought something is really off here. I decided to wait a day before posting anything. The report is this. I did not get sick. The piece in question was a 9 ounce filet cooked medium. It was medium. Not medium well. But it tasted like that piece of "stew beef" you got served as a child. It has that odor I have not smelled in decades. And I didn't realize how smelly it was. Anyway, it's not good beef. The manager and everyone was very apologetic. They took it off the bill. I almost didn't write this because they were so sweet. This review of STK pertains to the Happy Hour they have Mon-Thur 4-6 pm and Fri-Sun 3-6 pm. I've previously had take burgers from STK before and decided to give their happy hour a try. We started with some cocktails - Spiced Watermelon and Peach Pleassse, both pretty decent. The bread the provided was decently good as well. Being an absolute Wagyu fan, we ordered the Wagyu meatballs, beef tartare, STK & Frites, and the wagyu tacos. The wagyu meatballs and tacos were good, but I felt like the other condiments took away from the natural taste of the wagyu, so the dish wasn't spectacular. The beef tartare was good, but the STK & Frites were really the star of the show. I highly recommend. Overall, STK is a good place for some after work happy hour drinks and light bites. read more

I was disappointed that this "higher end steak chain restaurant" cannot cook a steak and overcooked the fish! We had the small steak, strangely we were not asked how we wanted it cooked. I assumed medium unless asked. Nope. It was well done. Not just well done but dry! Same with the salmon, way over cooked and dry. The Lil Brigs waygu sliders were also overcooked and dry. The "uncooked" appetizer (tuna tartare on avocado) was excellent. My daughter didn't want me to complain. So when the waitress came by I replied it was ok, waiting to see if she would inquire nope. There was also a family next to us with an infant and 3 year old and it was not pleasant. We just wanted to leave. The guys next to us also had steaks and like "good Canadians" didn't eat their steaks or complain. However they polished off their Mac and cheese. The Chocolate cake was served cold! It lacked flavor and serving it cold masks the flavors. The bread they serve was the best part of the meal. After waiting a long time for the check I decided when we leave I'll find a manager to describe the issues. I saw lots of "managers. I found one. He said the general manager was in his office. During dinner service the manager should be in the floor. I arrived early for my reservation for one on a Friday night (I took myself out for a date), and was able to get seated right away, at a table with a street view. I was there early enough that I had a good amount of space between myself and other tables, which I appreciated. My waitress, Kyla, was awesome - friendly, professional and really helpful with her recommendations. She also helped me take some pictures, and towards the end of my night, when I realized I had limited battery left on my phone, was willing to help me get it charged at the hostess stand. Absolutely excellent service. The ambience was not unexpected - a nice steakhouse where you go upstairs to the hostess stand and get seated on the second floor. Dim but not too dim lighting (keeping in mind I arrived when it was still fully daylight out). They have a nice bar lining against the wall. The music wasn't overly loud for dinner. My only complaint is that the sign for the washrooms is so dim that you're going to miss it unless you're right on top of it (but I did find out that they're working on changing that soon). A special plug for the Cucumber Stiletto (which was excellent), their blue cheese dip for the steak (I'm not a blue cheese fan, but that was AMAZING), and the first bite of their flourless chocolate cake made me roll my eyes to the back of my head (major kudos to their pastry chef!). A good friend of mine recommended STK because he's friends with the executive chef, Gian Carlo. So to a certain extent, I had already anticipated great service and food. What I didn't expect was that Gian Carlo was able to come out to chat with me (he learned from my friend I would prefer some company while I was on my solo date) a couple of times to talk about food and life, and I got to learn a bit about him, and also the way he works with his team. Gian Carlo's passion about what he does is evident in the exquisite presentation and robust flavors of the meal, as well as the way he spoke about his people. He knows them as people, not just as employees, and I recognized from the way he spoke how he provides support and tools for them to rise to his expectations and excel. He's created a a cohesive team that delivers exceptional results to us, the customers savoring our experiences at our tables. So while I know that I may have gotten the extra special treatment because of our mutual friend, I believe it's fair to say, whether Gian Carlo is working that day or not, you'd be in excellent hands if you went to STK in Toronto. read more

This was my first time at this location. I have high standards for STK. Unfortunately this location did not deliver. Charolette our server tried her best but I think because they were understaff she had tooooo much on her plate. Coming from the food and beverage industry i felt that maybe this was just was just one of those bad days. On this day they had a gas problem. They were able to have it fix by 8pm but you could still smell gas in the establishment. I talk to the manager on duty and asked him if he could make arrangements for us to receive the happy hour earlier since our reservation was pushed back due to the building having a gas problem. Had an amazing time trying STK for Winterlicious as well as an Anniversary celebration with my partner. Upon being seated we were quick to be greeted by our server Michael. Although STK was listed as the highest end for Winterlicious we were told about the upgrades that you can also get with the steak and sides. There was a possibly on getting a 12 oz rib eye instead of the 7 oz for $19 more but we decided on just sticking to the default Winterlicious meal of Lil Brgs, Cali cut NY steak and the Baked Apple crumble and cheese cake with an added side of Parmesan truffle fries. Before our appetizer came we were offered complimentary bread which had a blue cheese butter on top and chive oil on the side. The bread was perfectly warm and fluffy, the oil wasn't too flavourful but was a nice touch. When the lil brgs came out we got two burgers which were jam packed with a nice big patty and typical burger toppings. It was incredibly delicious especially the meat and the onions. The steak came with potato's and a dip, there was cheese melted on with the potatoes. The dessert came and it was brought with two sparklers which was nice to celebrate our special occasion. The cheesecake was fantastic I wish I had ordered two of them. The apple crumble was ok a bit too tart and the ice cream didn't really have too much of a salted caramel flavour. Wish there was a bit more ice cream to counteract the tartness of the crumble. Overall I had an amazing time at STK, there's a nice intimate atmosphere to it. Man I didn't want to do this because this service was amazing. There was something off with the food. Every taste had almost an overwhelming taste of flavored butter. Whether is was the filet. The Mac and cheese. The crab legs(109$ not worth it), the taters were also not worth it. The best part of the dinner was the wine. On a Sunday evening, Yorkville is surprising quiet, easy to get car park and basically no reservation needed for STK (Although I strongly recommend reservation). We sat down quickly, and complimentary sourdough bread came very fast after ordering. However, it's cold and hard, definitely a worst start of the night. We ordered Miso glazed Chilean seabass, and Australia Wagyu Flat iron steak for the main. I am very surprised the Chilean seabass is one of the best I have in Toronto so far. It is by my opinion better than Blueblood. The Flat iron is very tender and cook to medium rare as I requested. Keep in mind most steakhouses are always overcooked the steak! Finally we finished off with Apple Crumble with vanilla ice cream. The dessert has nothing special and the apple crumble is not warm enough. The famous STK. Where the pride is a great steakhouse and good time. After 4 visits I have my final take on this establishment. The Toronto location is a show more than a restaurant. People come to be seen and nothing more. Food and drinks are an after thought. My recent visit was fair with a great waitress who was very good. The food was good. But when you are spending over $1000 for a dinner for 4 people and you have a 90 min time limit. They actually will serve you and then say you have to finish your meal in 5 min and your time is done. We had no idea when we were seated at 8:30pm that at 10pm we had to get out. Disgusting to limit people who are spending. I saw some people sitting and hanging out for drinks and holding tables. Fine. Our waitress just took our dessert order. Then before we got them she told us we had gone over our time. I thought she was kidding. Then the desserts showed up and so did our bill. They offered us a spot at the bar to finish our desserts and we just packed it up. Very sad. If you want a steakhouse dinner find another place that values your money. read more

I came here for a friends birthday and ordered the mushroom truffle pasta. The dish was rich, creamy and flavourful! Pasta and mushrooms were cooked to perfection. This was definitely one of the better pastas I've had. I also got to try their calamari and maple smoked salmon from my friends. Both of which were quite good. However if you are planning to come here, be prepared to pay a lot. My total after tax and tips was $77 and all I ordered was my pasta and a cola. I booked a reservation for 8 people for Thanksgiving Dinner, as STK was one of the few restaurants in town advertising a roast turkey dinner. Thanksgiving is my favourite holiday, but since moving to Toronto three years ago, I haven't had a traditional roast turkey dinner. Needless to say, I was really looking forward to a good meal. I've been to the STK in Vegas and had a fantastic experience there, so I was hoping this would be similar. The first thing we commented on was how loud it was. For 6pm on a Monday, it was a bit much. I totally get the vibe of this place, but the volume was better suited for a later crowd. We asked if it could be turned down and they did lower it a bit, so I'm happy we didn't have to scream across the table at each other. Once everyone in my party arrived, our server asked if we wanted drinks to start. Almost everyone ordered a glass of wine or a cocktail, so it was a bit strange that drinks were brought only two or three at a time instead of all together. We asked about the specials, and she told us about the turkey dinner, describing the food and stressing that there were "a LOT of elements on the plate". I think she made everyone feel that it would be a lot of food, so nobody wanted to order appetizers for fear of having too much food. We also really wanted some dessert, so we decided to save room for the pumpkin pie instead of having appetizers. She also explained how the turkey was cooked sous-vide and would be very "soft". I feel that advertising a 'roast turkey dinner' was a bit misleading then. A couple of us asked if we could get dark meat, and we were told "it's served as a mix of dark/white meat, but I'll see what I can do." However, when the food arrived, there was no dark meat anywhere. It was clearly just the turkey breast they were offering, so I'm not sure if the server was unaware, or just didn't want to say. We received some complimentary bread with blue cheese butter drizzled on top, which was very nice. When the mains were served, we were all very surprised to see the servings were not as big as we expected and a few of us were wishing we'd gotten appetizers after all. The biggest issue, though, was our food was not hot. The plates were not warm, and not a single person had received hot food. The potatoes and stuffing were cold, while the green beans and turkey were warm. Obviously the assembly line in the kitchen wasn't operating smoothly, as it affected everyone at the table. We all discussed how we should handle it - do we send everything back or continue eating? Most of us just wanted to eat, so we tucked in. Our server did check in to see how everything was, and when I told her about the food temperature, she did offer to take my plate back. When I told her it was the whole table, she was very apologetic and said she'd try to see what they could do to make it right. I assured her we would just continue eating because the food was good and we were all hungry. The food really was quite good (although I was really missing my dark turkey meat). I think we finished our meals in record time. We were pleasantly surprised when our server brought out a dessert platter for the table. This definitely made up for the lukewarm food, although it was awkward trying to split some of the desserts 8 ways! Everything tasted great, but I think the star of the show was the sticky toffee pudding. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant are quite something, and definitely worth taking photos. I was glad the restaurant wasn't too full, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get some good shots. I will probably return to STK for an actual steak dinner, although I'll avoid coming too late. I'm just not interested in the club-type atmosphere when going out for dinner. It's really nice to be able to have a conversation over a great meal instead of having music blasting in your ears. You get to choose two sauce (comes with the steak), we had the Au Poivre which is a peppercorn based flavor (highly recommend) and chimichurri (nothing tooo special). We also ordered Fried Calamari for appetizers, the Calamari was okay, can't really complain. But the lime aioli sauce was great! It also comes with asian chilli sauce if thats your thing. The side dishes were suprising! As 19 dollars per side dish should be. We had the Parmesan Truffle Fries, don't expect it to be crispy, it's more towards mashed potato texture, but the flavor was amazing! And the asparagus, not sure what's in it, but its a combination of a little bit sour and a little bit sweet. We order two cocktails, the Thyme Bomb and Peach Pleassse. One's blackberry flavor(very sweet imo) and one's obviously peach flavor. One small complain would probably too much ice in peach pleasssse. Service was great! Waiter came at the right time all the time, and towards the end, the assistant manager came and greet us to get our feedback. Suggested to try the different types of butter they had on their other steaks. Which we probably will! The whole experience was wonderful, but one thing, probably just for me, I found it abit too noisy at night. I tend to appreciate my food more in a quiter environment. Again, probably just me. I arrived around 8; while the hostess was friendly, she went to seat someone else, but took quite awhile to return to take us to our seats. We sit down and again, it takes awhile for someone to come over. We all ordered drinks, that too took awhile. Also, typically the bread comes over within a short period of time-- not here, I asked the server about it, she said it would be out shortly. The best feature about STK, is typically the bread, but not here. The bread was a bit hard and cold. My friends were happy with their meal-- I had my typical Filet 10 Oz and Mac n Cheese, which was fine. The ambiance was nice, staff was pleasant; when they were around, but I think they need to do a better job of being attentive to the customers. There was a lot I liked about STK, however for the prices - I expected a little more. The service - fantastic, our server was very attentive, giving space and time when we needed it. And all of our other interactions were similarly positive. The food was mixed - yummy watermelon margarita - quality ingredients, not overly sweet. The appetizers (shrimp cocktail and tuna tartare) were really tasty. My friends had steaks which they thought were good, I had the lobster roll - which was pretty bland and not that much lobster. In fairness - maybe I shouldn't have ordered lobster at a STEAK house, and maybe as a maritimer my standards for lobster rolls are higher. If I had that lobster roll at a pub I probably would have thought it was ok - I expected more than OK. Pop-up Patio - at the time I booked - the pop-up patio was the only spot available. You had the option choose a sauce at no added cost...that was the only thing that was "free" The streak we chose was an 8oz ($49) which was actually a good size considering I don't eat red meat a lot. My friend and I spilt sides because they were each $19, we got the Mac&Cheese which is a must and then mash potatoes. I also got the wagu butter on my steak but the butter was frozen on top...considering it was $12 for butter I was not impressed. Great and flavourful cuts of steak. My favourite is the Cowgril Ribeye with wagyu umami butter. The brussel sprouts and Yukon gold mashed potatoes make excellent sides. The cocktails are sessionable and well-balanced. I highly recommend the Thyme-bomb and the spiced watermelon. Great atmosphere with cool modern decor. The best part is the service.
