It may not be the oldest bar we've ever been to but it may be the most historic and the first time ever that we were floating during dinner. Built as United States Lightship #115 , it served as a floating lighthouse guarding the dangerous Frying Pan Shoals 30 miles off Cape Fear, North Carolina, from 1930 to 1965. It completed a wartime stint stationed at the Panama Canal. The vessel is listed on both the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places. It is docked alongside another historic vessel, the FDNY fireboat John J. Harvey. Our food, cocktails, servers and company were top notch. The view and the venue were great and we couldn't have picked a better night.
