This is one of my ultimate favorite shops. We live in NYC and have family out in Augusta. It is one…read moreof the first places I want to go when we're out in Missouri. They always have unique gifts and seasonal options. It is the perfect place for holiday shopping. Seriously. Candles, wines, jewelry, shirts, frames, unique everything that just gives the perfect opportunity to find great gifts with a special touch. My only gripe is I wish they were open more! I recommend calling them or the bike shop next door to confirm that they're open. The perfect day is walking the trail, or visiting a nearby winery (we recommend sunflower hill farm) and then doing some shopping. Do yourself a favor and give them a visit. The bike shop next door also has really good strawberry slushies, haha.

Robin's Nest has some of the same sort of thing you'd see in old St. Charles, but it isn't jammed in, plus the place is well lit, so you can see everything in there. I had the pleasure of first visiting Robin's Nest when I was in a wedding and we took some photos behind the store. There's a beautiful bridge and then the Missouri River in the distance behind this charming old general store-like building. At the time, Robin's Nest was filled with Halloween decorations. If you're at all into Halloween decorating or need a gift for that occasion, I highly recommend Robin's Nest. I was unable to truly shop that day, so I returned within the month, and I've been to Robin's Nest some 4 or 5 times since. It's great in all seasons, but the fall is my favorite to do anything in or around Highway 94. Once I went and there were samples of wine and coffee. That was my lucky day! Some items there are a bit too pricey for me, but they make great gifts. Robin's Nest also spotlights local artists. Yesterday, I bought a greeting card made by an artist from Defiance. If you are driving by, be sure to stop at Robin's Nest and look around.

This was a fun spot to end our ride on the Katy. Good News is super easy to spot on the trail, and…read morethey have a spot to use the restroom directly in front. It's also a good spot to rack your bike. If you prepare to ride up, the hill is steep. With the right gears you'll be good to go. We didn't eat here, but enjoyed a beer. I got the key lime which was a wheat beer with a lime taste. I really enjoyed it, as I enjoy citrus forward things. The staff was super friendly and helpful. This spot has the ability to be so aesthetically pleasing! It would be awesome to do more with the second part of the patio, and the rocks that you look out over.

Then finally we saw that there is a parking lot down the hill and their building looks like something else other than a business. No sign on the building either, or maybe there was but wasn't lit, so we couldn't see. There is not much light around the building. We finally made it inside and it is a big barn, same cozy Good News interior & family friendly. I had unlucky times with their woodfire pizzas before at their other locations, they came out burnt and I think this location did the best job, the doughs came with spinach artichoke dip were perfectly wood-fired! Service was slow though. Only 1 bartender was working on a friday night and took us an hour to get our 1 appetizer.
