Robin's Nest has some of the same sort of thing you'd see in old St. Charles, but it isn't jammed in, plus the place is well lit, so you can see everything in there. I had the pleasure of first visiting Robin's Nest when I was in a wedding and we took some photos behind the store. There's a beautiful bridge and then the Missouri River in the distance behind this charming old general store-like building. At the time, Robin's Nest was filled with Halloween decorations. If you're at all into Halloween decorating or need a gift for that occasion, I highly recommend Robin's Nest. I was unable to truly shop that day, so I returned within the month, and I've been to Robin's Nest some 4 or 5 times since. It's great in all seasons, but the fall is my favorite to do anything in or around Highway 94. Once I went and there were samples of wine and coffee. That was my lucky day! Some items there are a bit too pricey for me, but they make great gifts. Robin's Nest also spotlights local artists. Yesterday, I bought a greeting card made by an artist from Defiance. If you are driving by, be sure to stop at Robin's Nest and look around.

They always have unique gifts and seasonal options. It is the perfect place for holiday shopping. Seriously. Candles, wines, jewelry, shirts, frames, unique everything that just gives the perfect opportunity to find great gifts with a special touch. My only gripe is I wish they were open more! I recommend calling them or the bike shop next door to confirm that they're open. The perfect day is walking the trail, or visiting a nearby winery (we recommend sunflower hill farm) and then doing some shopping. Do yourself a favor and give them a visit. The bike shop next door also has really good strawberry slushies, haha.

It's hands down our favorite location! The wood-fired pizza is always delicious, and the beer selection is fantastic. My go-to is the Hazy 636, while my husband never passes up a Helias. We love bringing our boys (they love the mocktails), grabbing a pizza and a couple of beers, playing cards, and just slowing down together. The atmosphere is what keeps us coming back. There's a beautiful indoor space with garage doors that open up when the weather is nice, plus plenty of outdoor seating surrounded by the scenic beauty of Defiance. We've visited the St. Charles and Wildwood locations too, and they're both great, but there's just something special about the views and peaceful setting at the Defiance location that makes it our favorite. The service at all the locations have been top notch Whether you're stopping after a ride on the Katy Trail, planning a casual date, or spending time with family, this place never disappoints.

The setup is casual--you order food and drinks at the register and then receive a text when your food is ready for pickup. When we went to grab our order, part of it was missing because someone else had accidentally taken it. The staff handled it well and quickly remade the missing items, which we appreciated. We ordered pizza, chicken wings, and a pretzel with cheese. Everything was pretty good and hit the spot after being out in the cold. The patio also had a live band playing, which created a really fun atmosphere. Overall it was a lively place with good food and a great vibe, especially on a busy event day.

We did notice the signage when walking in that there were no wine tastings in the bar area. This was different than we were used to but we did learn that you can reserve wines tastings which is something we are open to in the future. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and both spaces were wonderful. We chose to sit outdoors but under the covered part of the patio since it was really warm outside. Our server was very helpful, especially with the wine choices since we were unfamiliar. All of us created our own wine flights. The pizza came highly recommended as well. For lunch we ordered the truffle fries, Smoked chicken wings, and Figgy Smalls pizza (with prosciutto only on half). The truffle fries were just ok. I honestly could not taste much of the truffle seasoning. We really enjoyed the Smoked chicken wings and the Figgy Smalls Pizza which I highly recommended. Our friends had the Vineyard mixed green salad with grilled shrimp and Pizza the Hut. They enjoyed their food as well. The only issue was the timing. The pizza did not come out at the same time as the other food. In fact it took quite a bit of time to get them. They were definitely worth it but it leaves part of your party eating so their food doesn't get cold while the others are waiting. We also enjoyed the live music while there. I look forward to trying more in the future.

It was also pouring unexpectedly but that's no ones fault, obviously. The venue was clean but acoustics does make average conversation sound loud that I had trouble hearing the person next to me or the bartenders. I did the non reserve wine sampling which allotted 5 samples for $10. Many of which were made on property with Missouri wines and some west coast offerings. I tend to go for sweeter wines and found my selection to be quite palatable with two standouts as my favorite with the Schitts and Giggles and Lauren's Sweet Vignoles. I really would've preferred the tasting to be separate from the big room and more intimate as to learn more about the wine. Once poured, I was largely left alone standing at the bar where they only offer the sampling and so I felt a little awkward. One gentleman poured rather large portions while the other gave the appropriate amount. A water chaser would've been ideal between both to cleanse the palate. I do think a more intimate setting for sampling is preferred so I am not competing with the rest of the room and I am able to ask questions. The bartenders poured and left and you were on your own!
