Great beers! We tried their brown ale... which gives Civil Life a run for its money, their hazy ipa (citrusy good!), and a couple hazelnut coffee milk stouts which were very good! We shared a house salad and a vampire pizza... both good and just ample enough to share with one other person if you're not overly hungry. Great location/space on the bluffs of the Missouri River! Friendly staff as well!

While hitting a few different wineries in the Augusta area, my boyfriend and I needed a break, so we headed to Good News Brewing. We had actually never had the chance to try Good News Brewing, but it had been on our list for quite some time. We were excited to give it a try! The location is quaint. I love how it feels almost like a kid's clubhouse built into the side of the hill. The complex seems to be still under construction, so I'm pretty excited to return for another visit to see the finished product. I think the thing I liked most about the space was the fact that it seemed as if it was designed with COVID in mind. Everything was open air and you have plenty of space to distance between other customers. The other bonus of the openness was the fact that it allowed you to feel like you were in nature. While we had not ridden on the Katy trail to get to Good News Brewing, you very much felt as if the owners were trying to be respectful of the landscape around them. As for the beer, it was solid! We each only had one (and water!) I enjoyed that the beer had a very homebrewed craft taste to it. It wasn't homogenized, which is something I look for when picking breweries. On a hot day, this beer would be the perfect way to cool off during a bike ride.

I was eager to stop by Augusta Brew Haus when a local business owner told me it was open again, but then I saw what had been done to it. But second thing first. Why that order? Because some people will think one thing is just a matter of taste--as if that made it minor--but the other is improvable: customer service. It is a long-standing custom in these parts to acknowledge/greet someone who comes to your establishment. I didn't want to stay--just check it out--but if any of the 4-5 staff I saw on a slow afternoon had acknowledged me as I walked around, tried to do the QR code thing (I miss menus), took pictures, we'd have another star in this review. Just say "good afternoon" or "welcome to...". They weren't busy at all and the bar had plenty of staff. Maybe get a host station? Ok, earlier Driving and walking up, I saw the worst change possible has been made, and I could have dropped to my knees in anguish a la Taylor in Planet of the Apes. YOU MANIACS. Yes, they removed the bamboo. Company buys the best spot on this part of the Katy and takes out many people's favorite attribute without replacing it with something suitable, like trees. The bamboo provided the shade and ambiance that made it possible and pleasant to sit outside in MO from open to close. Oh, the humanity! Oh, the humidity! This is worse than the trees being taken out at Montelle Winery. In addition to making the space less green, new work on buildings (and building more of them?) has it looking warehouse/industrial. Very not Augusta. Not a happy place in the woods--no good German vibe now. I loved that place and I don't even drink beer (they had plenty of wine and some cider to keep me happy). My extended family will look for another place to spend our days catching up, and I'll skip Good News when I take friends the 94 way. May give it a try if someone really wants to go.

Rode my bicycle from the Defiance location and was bummed when I arrived. No Bloody Mary. No Judgement Tree Vodka and Lemonade. Maybe they have their reasons, but this is a location that I probably won't make it to again.

The ladies working at the counter inside were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We didn't get anything to eat, but I noticed they have a fridge full of ingredients for sale to make your own charcuterie board, such as cheeses, meats, and crackers. I would love to try their wine flight next time I visit! We absolutely loved the beautiful covered patio area. The surrounding views aren't necessarily anything special, but the grapevines above definitely make up for it! There's plenty of seating options for small and large groups. We also enjoyed their live music. When we were ready to move onto our next stop, the trolley shuttle picked us up right outside the entrance of Augusta Winery.

The atmosphere was light and fun with many people at the bar or browsing. They appeared to have a nice selection of wine as far as an occasional wine drinker could tell. Service was wonderful and the staff were friendly, knowledge and professional. The interior has a rustic, comtempory vibe with a large u-shaped bar. The sample line was busy and the bar seats were almost full too. High top cocktail tables were scattered throughout. There is a refrigerated case filled with all types of cheeses and meats for a nice picnic or Charcuterie board at home. It's helpful having two entrances into the building. It cuts down on the congestion and it quickens the turnover. The side entrance opens up to a beautiful view of Mount Pleasant Estates. Everthing on the grounds is pristine including the stunning statues of a mare and colt. They have an excellent map of everything on the estate and the map is extremely legible. Today, they were set up for an outdoor wedding with a gorgeous view of the hillside. The white arbor and chairs were attractive even without guests against the green grass and the lovely landscaping with the sun starting to set. If you are touring winery's, add Augusta Winery to your list. They have several Winery in Augusta. Maybe plan to take the cruise of the Mississippi River before or after the cruise. Augusta is an adorable little, cozy town.

I can't begin to explain what a great spot this is!…read more It is dog friendly, it is wide open and beautiful, it has lots of live music, it is run by a family that is so very nice, and it is super affordable and tastes great! You can get a flight of wines for $5 or a glass of wine or a pint of beer for $5 each. You can even do a tour and tasting for $10. Plus, all the bottles are pretty much under $25. And they have quite a large variety of whites, reds, and roses too. Cindy, one of the owners, is so very friendly and helpful. She will go through an entire tasting with you with the highest level of patience, allowing you to taste and try anything you'd like to. Her brother-in-law also Is a gem, he himself Popsicles to all of the kids running around and let them ride on the tractor or explore into the garden. Would highly recommend if you are in the area!

Arthur was the live music for the day and he played a great variety of songs (acoustic guitar). The wine is fantastic. I love this. I enjoy planning my own winery snacks. I was bummed when many wineries quit allowing food because they opened kitchens. So if I have to pay $30+ for food. I'm buying less wine. Service was friendly and prompt, just belly up to the bar or order at counter and sit at a table. Overall, 4+ rated experience, but only for drafts and takeout beer, no food. Reasonably priced pints, and they accept Craft-tapped app. Today we enjoyed their signature hazy IPA, Constant Clockwork (44 IBU, 6.6 ABV), really good local brew! And since we were headed to KY, we got takeout (25oz) on their version of "Show Me Kentucky" (20 IBU, 5.8 ABV) common beer. Both were excellent and EZ to drink!! And our bartender was very conversational, fun and insightful. We did not order food today, but think they serve a few snacks or pizza. We'll come back again to try next time. Also, you can join their "club" as well as order your "custom, hand-made wooden stein" to keep on their shelf - not cheap tho. If you're looking for a good local brew spot, this one is definitely worth a visit! ENJOY!!
