A little of General Tao in my life.
Steven M.

What else would I eat when I make a pit stop I'm Albany? Mall food court Chinese obviously! I made a pit stop at Nordstrom Rack and figured I would grab a quick bite instead of being stuck with more rest area food. The staff was super quick at Stir Fry 88 and before you know it I had my General Tao chicken, orange chicken, and fried rice in a container and I was in my way. I'm a weirdo so I did not feel like eating in the busy food court so I ended up eating it in my car and it was some pretty alright food. Was this the best mall Chinese food? No, no it was not. But both the orange and general Tao chicken was flavourful and pretty good, and the rice was pretty standard fried rice. If you find yourself in the middle of this Albany mall looking for some Chinese food, this place will serve you just right.

I paid using my credit card. They charged me a 20% tip without letting me know. Don't trust the people here.

Way too greasy, so much sauce the noodles were soggy and then the sauce separated and was half oil.

Bibimbowl - A bowl of healthy Korean fast food!

As a mall food court meal, it's remarkable Korean fast food. The man behind the counter was friendly and helpful. He said the business settled into the mall about a year ago. When it comes to ambiance, it's about the food which is displayed in an inviting manner. There's a lot to choose from. It looked fresh, good quality and healthy. Far healthier than the other food court offerings. The portions were huge. I took the bowl home and only got halfway through. I saved the rest and ate it for lunch the next day. I was thrilled that my carb options included purple rice and Japchae which are delicious transparent sweet potato noodles. It's sometimes difficult to get purple rice in the Capital Region, so I consider it to be a delicacy. The vegetable options included seaweed salad which isn't a vegetable but tasted great. My photo doesn't do the meal justice. It was a tall bowl. Some of the really good stuff was at the bottom. I really liked the spicy chicken. I was allowed to add a second protein so I picked beef bulgogi which is a tall order if I was expecting it to be great. The marinade was a bit sweet for me. It was okay. Certainly edible. I would pick a different protein when I go back.

I ordered the build your own Bulgogi Bowl ($10.49 plus tax) with my choices of toppings and Japchae noodles, which was made in front of me behind the glass counter. I enjoyed my bowl in the food court and it was a good size portion with a good mix of ingredients including sweet pineapple and spicy kimchi with tender bulgogi with gochijiang sauce. I enjoyed my choices on this visit and I could come back and try other combinations of ingredients for another Korean bowl.

The place was very busy, but the servers were friendly and quickly brought us the Chinese menu. We ordered several dishes and had to wait quite a while since it was peak dinner time--but it was absolutely worth the wait! The spicy beef was incredible, easily one of my favorite dishes. The deep-fried pork brought back childhood memories--it tasted just like what I used to have growing up. My kids especially loved the meatball and vegetable soup. Honestly, everything we ordered was delicious. Such a great meal and definitely worth the stop. We'll absolutely come back again!

But if you're looking for something milder, they're great at that, too. I think the large menu has been updated since my last visit. The first few pages include dishes that I would describe as "soul food." There's frog, beef tripe and pork intestine-- you get the picture. I never really got into that. On this visit, my friend and I picked Stir Fried Spicy Squid, Crispy Chicken with Crunchy Red Pepper and Bok Choy with Garlic. We were hungry. The veggies came out of the kitchen almost immediately. Crazy fast. We were grateful. The other two dishes took a bit more time. When you see all of the ingredients in those dishes and how finely sliced they are, it's no wonder. I loved the chicken dish. The chicken was a little crunchy but the red peppers were super crunchy. It was a bit spicy but deliciously so. I liked the peanuts and what looked like slivers of jalapeño peppers, too. The squid was also great. Here, I think they used more jalapeño peppers and spices. There was more heat to this dish but it was deceptive. The more I ate, the more I could gradually feel the burn. By the time we were full, I could feel my face starting to sweat a little. That was fun. The restaurant is clean and attractive with a remarkable amount of seating. The back portion is reserved for hot pots which I have yet to try there. The staff is friendly, helpful and bilingual. They will make suggestions if you'd like. This restaurant generally gets a bit noisy because it's where large Chinese families gather when they want to go on the town. That's a good thing. There's also a large screen tv that plays cooking shows. With so much going on, the customers seemed pretty happy.
