Decent place to top off the tank for your paintball marker. Price is $6 to refill a 24 oz tank. This location is transit accessible (L to Grand or Q59 from Elmhurst/Rego Park). Service is friendly, the place is a paintball equipment outfitter first, diving services company second. Note that I did not fill up the tank for paintball, it's for hacking my sodastream machine (I sold my Tippmann A5 a while back). The gas is clean and should be okay. There aren't a lot of paintball stores in the Metro NYC area, but even if there was... I would still come to Stingray Divers no matter what. I have made quite a few long treks to this part of Brooklyn for some time now solely for their strong customer service alone. On my first visit to this store, I had only needed a tank fill on a new HPA tank. I brought my old one to see if they could recycle it or something. They not only filled my new tank, but they disassembled my old tank and got it back into working order. Somehow Stingray Divers had performed a miracle on a tank that I have long deemed a dead fish. What impressed me even more is that they didn't charge a maintenance fee or anything. They just charged me for the fill of the two tanks. On each subsequent visit to Stingray, I've always been greeted with a warm smile and great attitude from the staff. Although they're seasoned paintballers they give off that air of approachability and friendliness; I've seen them patiently answer countless common questions from new and experienced players. The prices here are competitively priced against the internet and can be a great resource when you need an item now, causing me to consistently shop there to fulfill my paintball needs. On the one time my friend needed light maintenance, the staff at Stingray patiently took apart his archaic marker and diagnosed the issue (My friend is an idiot with old batteries). I came here specifically for their paintball services. It's a nice shop with a good amount of markers and gear. Cecilia was very friendly and knowledgeable. She let me hold a few of their markers on the wall and answered a bunch of questions that I had as I was just getting back into the sport. I brought my Empire Axe in for servicing ($35) and she took off my regulator from my HPA tank because I was going to be flying with it for free. I look forward to visiting more often and I recommend that you check out the store if you're into paintball. It has all the equipment you might need for Diving, they also have classes for those who want to learn how to dive, after completing your class, you get your certificate and can dive anywhere in the world. The staff knows their stuff when it comes to general paintball, markers, chest plates, etc. They also have awesome recommendations and here's the best part: they actually play the sport! It's so hard to find a place that talks to you from experience instead of meeting a quota. We've been taking our guns for service for the past year and change(usually before a big game) and have been a loyal customer ever since. I hate to write this since this isn't a reflection of the shop itself, but more their instructor, Kirby. I wanted to find out about getting my Advanced OWC here since the website advertised a great price, $250. Well, first Kirby told me it'd cost $300, plus dive fees, course materials, etc...okay fine, standard markup and fees that comes with getting certified. What really annoyed me though is when Kirby said I had to buy a dive computer. Oh really? Yes, I understand a dive computer helps you get in more dives within a certain amount of time to maximize your time in the water, but to not allow me to take a course unless I buy a computer (renting one wasn't an available option according to him) was pretty ridiculous. I told him I have a dive watch and I can just use the old fashioned way of calculating my bottom time and looking at dive tables, besides, I wasn't in a rush to cram in a bunch of dives within a short time frame. His response, "anyone who thinks that and tells you that is an idiot. You can take your watch and go elsewhere but no one will let you dive." Even in the worst case scenario that everyone is insistent on using a dive computer, other instructors would at least have one and just stay at an equal depth with you in the water the whole time so you can have the same dive profile in the computer. Regardless, I have been at a 5 star PADI dive resort that let me start the advanced course without a dive computer (I didn't finish all dives, hence I'm trying here in NY), and this dive shop (that doesn't even have a PADI certification according to the PADI website) won't. Maybe they lost their certification after PADI figured out all the excess costs they were trying to throw on their students? Yeah not likely, but that would be fitting wouldn't it? So in short, this may be a great spot to pick up some gear, but they need to think about how they're managing their classes... read more

Who knew there was a paintball shop in Brooklyn? I've been going all the way out to the Island to buy my stuff, now I can jump on the L and get my stuff. The guy said they've been there almost 20 years. How I didn't know this is beyond me. They have a great selection of stuff, they also fill HPA, which other stores do not. The guy behind the counter was very knowledgable about markers, I didn't know what hopper to purchase for a loader I bought, he knew this. The shop caters to two things: diving and paintball. How many places do you know specialize in these two activities. The shop is not large. It carries enough gear just for your basic needs in both aspects. I went for two reasons: to see if I could get an older paintball (marker) gun repaired and get an upgrade to my existing tank. The cheapest tank they offered me was $150: for a 48ci 4800 Empire - very good deal because online it goes for $130-$140 then you have to add shipping, so as a retail store that has overhead bills, $150 is a decent price. The prices go up from there. I don't think the shop over charges at all because they match internet prices. So if you're in need of a marker, I saw a few hanging on the wall. I saw a few tanks in the display case. I saw hoppers, tank covers, vest and many other accessories on the walls. I definitely suggest calling ahead for their hours of operation and what you're looking for. As for their service, I can't deny or applaud it because I only went in for sort of inquiry in addition to my purchase above: to see if I could get a very old marker repaired. The fact that one of my markers is straight from 1997, it's understandable that the older gentlemen managing the counter looked it over and said he had no knowledge of the construction. It was just too old a marker. He offered to open it up to see what he could do, depending on the severity of the repair, but gave no guarantees or an estimated price on fixing it, so I thanked him and left. read more

Good quick refills of CO2 gas at a reasonable price. Probably $1-2 more dollars at a not-to-be named major sporting goods store but worth it to not have to drive out to LI/NJ just for some CO2. Right near some major public transportation stops but if you're driving don't forget to feed the meter. read more

I just go here for the Co2 refills. It costs $6 to fill up a 24 ounce can. I thought it was going to be more around $4-5, but it's still not too bad. This place serves the purpose. The only thing I don't like is that this is the only place other than a deserted town like neighborhood in Staten Island where I can get a Co2 refill. I have to travel all the way there from Bay Ridge just to fill up a can in a few seconds. It's not the stores fault, but yeah, it is what it is. After reading the reviews, I came here to get my CO2 tank refilled. Called them twice to confirm that they refill and other reviewers here mention the refill as well. To save you time, you do NOT get a refill. It is a tank swap for a full CO2 tank. It may be my preference, but I prefer not to swap my tank out for something unknown. Even asked if I could drop off my tank to get it refilled (since he doesn't have the machine) and pick up the same tank in a week. He made it seemed like an impossible task and snapped at me. Not the closest paintball shop to me but I come here because of the customer service, friendly and funny staff, honest advice, usually has what ever gear I'm looking for and if not they'll order it for you, honest air fills and being able to tech your marker out back in their yard when it's available. If you purchase paint here, the prices are reasonable and they'll check the paint before you leave so you don't have to worry about broken paint. I've come here around 5 times now to get my 2.5lb CO2 tank for my kegerator filled. They're very quick about it and I'm in and out in under 5 minutes. It's fairly close to the L train as well which makes it a quick trip during my lunch break. It's $12 to fill the tank which seems reasonable to me and as there aren't many places to get it filled I don't mind it. I'll keep coming back for sure. read more
