I got a bad bang cut a few months ago and it grew out really weird, trying to grow my hair out, so all I needed was a bang touch-up. I called and made an appointment. Entry was a bit confusing, but the salon was very chic. I was sat with Andrew, who was so friendly and nice. He trimmed them up in 5 min and said it was complimentary! I'll definitely be going back for more cuts in the future. I only gave 4 stars because he kind of cut a few hairs of my brow I noticed afterwards, but my bangs look great and it was free! : ) read more

This is an update of my review from 2 weeks ago! After being rescheduled I finally got a haircut here and had a fantastic experience. I had a great conditioning treatment and my stylist, Pam did a great job with my hair. The ambiance was really nice and comfortable (snacks, coffee, tea and water are available while you wait, along with an abundance of magazines). Everyone was also very apologetic about my last appointment being cancelled and I even got a special gift at the end :) I know cancellations happen and things come up, my issue was how the customer service dealt with it, and the fact that the company is so strict about charging clients for cancellations with less than 24 hours (regardless if it's an emergency of not). I don't think it's smart business to demand a potentially client's credit card information before allowing them to make an appointment. If it's a client that is a bit flaky and bails on you and wastes your time a lot, then yes by all means charge them for cancelling, but otherwise cancellations should be a risk you take for gaining potential new clients. Great place and I am totally satisfied with their service! read more

I was referred to this salon by a frequent customer of mine in Manchester-By-The-Sea. It has been over 10 years since I have visited Newbury Street to get my hair done - moved to the North Shore and well, it's just not that convenient. However, it has also been over 10 years since I have found a hairdresser that I really love - and one that is able to color and cut my hair the way I really want. So I went back to Newbury Street and it was SO worth the commute, the cost and the time in the salon - I LOVE MY HAIR for the first time in 10 years and I will never, ever go anywhere else. Marissa cut and colored my hair and she was simply amazing - she took the time needed to make sure my color was exactly what I wanted, gave me a great cut and guided me towards the right hair products for my hair. Had a last minute appointment with Sally on Friday morning and she was wonderful! I felt I was in good hands the entire time. She knew exactly how to handle my thick, textured hair and had great suggestions on how to care for it myself. I really felt comfortable and satisfied from begining to finish. I am happy to say that I have found a laid-back venue that can cut my beautiful locks for a reasonable price. I went to Stilisti after hearing about it from a friend, and am definitely going back. I saw Alexandra for highlights, and my color turned out beautiful. She listened to what I wanted and took her time making sure it was perfect. She also recommended products based on what I was looking for, but didn't pressure me at all to buy. I'll be going back next time I need a cut. Alexandra was great and the salon itself is very nice but also feels laid back for Newbury. Super friendly and welcoming stylists! I've been going to this salon for two years now, Kayleigh helped me bring my dark brown and box-dyed black hair to a gorgeous blonde with demensions, and back to chestnut! They use delicious smelling high end products that leave your hair feeling healthy and shiney. The salon is chic, offers nespresso, infused waters, snacks, and a great collection of the latest magazines. I absolutely love my color sessions here, people I met when I was blonde thought it was natural and complimented me all of the time. I have had a couple scheduling conflicts and the salon ALWAYS goes out of their way to work with me. I've only seen one review on here about Victoria, and it's negative, which is completely absurd. Victoria did a fantastic job with my hair and really listened to what I was looking for. She even listened to the type of products I used, and used some of my favorites when styling while also suggesting new ones I ended up loving. I especially loved that she took her time through the whole process and even curled and styled my hair at the end (instead of normally just blow drying it out). Of course the whole hot tea and comfy chairs was a plus, but I was completely floored with the excellent customer service and results I received from Victoria and Stilisti! read more

Megan Kelley and Stilisti lived up to all of my expectations and more! I came to Megan the other day with hair in SERIOUS need of color help. (to the point where I wouldn't even wear my hair down, I hated it so much). After a consultation, I booked an appointment for the next day! Like all of the other reviews say, Megan is incredibly talented at enhancing your natural beauty with hair color. Not only did she fix my hair (which I had been told at other places on Newbury that it was basically not fixable in one visit), but I left with great color that I'm finally happy to show off again. Megan is also one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She genuinely cares about her clients and it shows. The rest of the staff at Stilisti was friendly and great as well! I've gone here for a haircut with Alexandra twice in the past year and both times I have been thoroughly impressed and pleased. The salon itself is beautifully decorated and clean. The support staff are all super friendly and sweet (and not in a phony way). The place feels so relaxed even though it's got plenty of clients - no rushing around like a crazy, no fried hair smell, they always offer you refreshments, etc. - it's great. Plus at your first appointment you're given an online login so you can make subsequent appointments on their website which is super convenient. Alex really knows what she's doing. When I first saw her and asked for suggestions, she actually put her hands in my hair to get a sense of its texture. She asked important questions too - like my routine, if it was currently air-dried, etc. - she made me feel like my hair was in great hands. At my second appointment, she remembered the texture and unique characteristics of my hair even after eight months. Both times I have been super pleased with the cut - I told her I'm super low maintenance (no products, no blow drying) and she has given me cuts that perfectly suit my lack of a beauty routine and still look great - even eight months later! There was no judgement or attempt to change my ways (which I've gotten at a lot of salons in the past), just a great cut! read more

Jaime at Stilisti is hands down the best stylist and colorist I've experienced. I started going to her 5 years ago when I was at college in Boston and still come back to Boston (from Los Angeles) to see her. I've tried 3 different hair stylists in LA and no one compares to the way Jaime is able to highlight my hair without roots coming in. I'm able to go a few months in between visits and still get compliments on my color 2 months after she's touched it. Highly recommend! read more

I got a balayage done by Chelsey and it came out amazing. She really listened to what I wanted and did an amazing job getting the color to what I wanted. I also got my hair cut by her and she did an amazing job with my layers and I absolutely loved it. The salon itself is so cozy and they have great robes and offer you great coffee and espresso if you want it. I went in today for a cut and color. If you want to relax and be pampered then this is the place to be. The salon is fantastic. I first cut my hair with Andrew, he listened to what I wanted and made recommendations without being pushy. My haircut turned out great. Then I got a complimentary deep conditioning treatment because of a slight scheduling issue ( which I have to admit was mostly my fault). Next I colored my hair with Ashley and let me tell you she is amazing !! She instantly understood what I had in mind. However, because I had box colored my hair a few weeks back ( which was a big mistake) the color didn't lighten as much as we had hoped. She instantly reassured me that she will reapply the color until I was happy. My hair turned out absolutely PERFECT !! Ashley was super nice and cheerful throughout the day. Erica styled my hair and gave me great tips on how to style my hair at home. The only downside to this place is the yummy complimentary M&Ms which I couldn't stop eating :p Highly recommend Stilisti read more

I arrived in Boston early in the morning and received a call that Andrew, my stylist, had called in sick. I was not very happy to receive the message as I drive 2 hours to have my hair styled and colored at Stilisti and I had already arrived in Boston. I was informed by the staff that another stylist would be happy to take care of me. I am very particular about my hair so it was anxiety producing to trust someone else, but after driving 2 hours, I decided to take a chance! Marisa, the owner of the salon, made time to fit me in for the cut and color. She was totally accommodating and professional and did not act rushed or upset in any way. She made me feel important and cared for and she did a beautiful job with my hair. Her fees are much more than my usual stylist and the salon charged me the fee I would have paid for the services I had booked. My hair looked gorgeous, as always when I leave Stilisti, and I was impressed by the professionalism of the salon and the wonderful customer service. Went to see Andrew for a haircut - he is truly talented. I have been to several (yes, several) other Newbury salons. Seven years later, finally found him and I will not lose him. My hair is naturally curly/wavy. Not pretty curly either. Just enough to be annoying. If it's not cut correctly it looks like a terrible frizz ball mess. That is always my tell tale sign of if I have received a good hair cut. I wait until I wash it and let it air dry and see what happens. Well, after Andrews cut, it was pretty, flowing wave/curls. Which is perfect - I have long hair and go to the gym three times a week so I don't want to have to blow dry/ flat iron it every day. Andrew listened to what I said and cut it to perfection. He was a pleasure to conversate with and I instantly felt comfortable. I will post pics on my profile from the day I got it cut. I have been going to Stilisti for about a year, it recently changed its name to Stilisti, it was Jean Pierre before. Lindsey get 5 start from me, she has been cutting my hair for a while and a true artist. However, she is not there for some reason anymore. I am not sure where she moved. I called to make an appointment for a hair cut with Lindsey, they schedule the appointment for me without telling me 1. That Lindsey is not there anymore 2. That they moved down the street. I got there there are no one there and no note where to go, i had to call and found out they moved down the street temporarily and would move back soon. I got there, they told me Lindsey is not there anymore and that Victoria would take care of me. I was very hesitant as i did not know Victoria. She was very nice person so i gave it a shot. It was very nice chatting with her but I am sorry to say that she is not a good hair stylist. I said i want my hair shorter, she would cut it then ask me if its good, i would tell her please get it shorter. That went on for 4 times then i gave up as she kept taking tiny pieces at a time. When she was done, it did not look nice it was not neat and sharp, the edges were not fine tuned. So i left. However before i left she tried to get me to buy their product. Apparently its a special serum, now i am a scientist and the ingredients in that product is not what i would call a hair serum. Regardless, i politely said no. Ask tried to pay they gave me the serum again, i said how much, she is like oh not too expensive its really good. So i just said "no" again. Then to my surprise they charged me $50 for a men's hair cut which i thought was way too much given what was done to my hair. Also, because they have been charging me $40 for about a year. I am sure other Stylist there might be better but i think this place is going down hill. I will be finding a new place to go, my two friends who have been going there recently warn me of similar situation and they have stopped going there. I think the worst part is they are still taking appointment under Lindsey's name, and Lindsey does not work there anymore. If anyone know where Lindsey is working message me please. read more

I've been coming to Jaime at Stilisti for a couple of years now, and she has always been excellent. She's great at listening to me (sometimes confusingly) describe what I'm looking for in a cut and color, and she's encouraged me on several occasions to go for a (relatively) adventurous new cut/color that I'm wavering on, always with amazing results! The product range at Stilisti is wide, slightly expensive but well worth it. Jaime will recommend products for my hair without being too pushy on selling them, and she's very knowledgeable in every aspect of her work! My hair always feels so healthy when I leave, and continues feeling and looking great for several months afterward. Even though I only come in every 4-6 months, Jaime remembers me, gives me a hug and knows exactly what I'm looking for. The salon itself is always clean, everyone is friendly (even at 9am on a Saturday), and the free coffee is quite good. Cannot recommend Jaime or Stilisti in general any more highly! read more

Really upset with the service I received last week for an eyebrow waxing. Jessica was waxing my eyebrows and the wax she used burnt my left eyebrow. When I took a closer look at my eyebrows, the wax did not even get half of what hair was there. Overall messy and unprofessional job. I didn't even lay down, she had me sitting on a chair. I came here after researching yelp for a good salon to help me turn my dyed black hair blonde. I had already been to a top ranked salon that left me very disappointed then a local salon that rushed through my appointment leaving my highlights looking orange and streaky. I was recommended by the front desk to see Laurene and could not be happier. She was able to work with the project started in my hair and get it to where I want it. I cannot say enough good things about her, she is obviously an incredibly talented stylist. Although looking around makes it clear that anyone that works there is top notch and you will be happy with their work. What I love about the salon is that it is a relaxing experience catered to the clients' needs, no body ever seems rushed or impatiently waiting. There is also no hard sale of products here. Suggestions are made catered to your needs and samples are given without even asking so you can decide for yourself if you want to buy a whole bottle next time. Stylists are always explaining how they create the styles so hopefully it can be recreated at home with enough practice, I love that as I am lost when it comes to doing new things. I feel this salon is worth the price and commute as the stylists really try to set their clients up for success, not just churn out appointment after appointment. Compared to local salons the cost for a cut and style is pretty standard and dye is maybe 1/3 the cost higher, so it's not totally unaffordable if price is an issue. The atmosphere is also very plush with a nice view of Newbury St to keep you occupied during lengthy foil appointments which is a nice perk. read more

I recently had a botched highlight job done and I tried to deal with it for a month but still couldn't and knew I needed to get it fixed. I did my research and found Stilisti with great reviews and booked an appointment with Chelsey. I'm sooooooo glad I did! Chelsey was amazing and took the time to get my messed up hair back to beautiful. She went through multiple stages with me, first bringing my roots back to my natural color to cover up the stripes, and then going back in with foils and balayage to get the natural, sun kissed look I was going for. I was at the salon for five hours and was so pleased with Chelsey and the entire staff. I am so happy with my hair now and will absolutely be going back. read more
