I really loved my dish, the salmon fried rice. It had large chunks of fried salmon. The papaya salad was delicious too, not too spicy and so flavorful. The Singapore noodles were delicious, but not what I was expecting. This is an egg noodle like fettuccine with soy sauce and oyster sauce. It tasted great, and I'd probably order it again, but just FYI it isn't a curry dish with Angel hair noodles! I love sticky rice! The food and drinks are always consistent. I typically order the wings and fries but I hold off on the fires and get more wings. They are that good! You will find typical Thai meals here. Very tasty and full of flavor. The ambiance is great in here although in the winter time it tends to be freezing! They have a big heater that doesn't do much when it's cold so definitely try not to sit by the window. The drinks are great. My favorite is the coconut mojito. They have always been consistent each time I've come and I've been there quite a few times. Service is a 4/5. When they get busy it can be hard to flag your waiter down so this is something I think they should work on in terms of being properly staffed on busy nights. Went here last night & the lack of a wait while every other restaurant on the block was overflowing should've been a sign. We arrived and were hurriedly seated. We then waited at least 15 minutes to be attended to. We had to eventually flag someone down. The food came relatively quickly after we ordered and was standard Thai - nothing special. As soon as we were done eating we received the check and after we paid the server told us they needed the table. I couldn't understand him over the loud music so I said 'pardon' at which point he aggressively barked at me that they needed the table and that we needed to go. I get the urgency if maybe we were wasting time, but I paid and didn't even have time to reach for my jacket before he was so rude. I work in the service industry and know how things should be communicated. The way I was spoken to and rushed out of the restaurant left me feeling disrespected and upset. For our entrees, we got the drunk man noodle and the spicy fried rice with pork belly. We also added a fried egg. The drunk man noodles were delicious and exactly as you'd expect it to taste. The restaurant was beautiful on the inside and I loved the decor and booth style seating. We ordered the chicken satay as an appetizer and the chicken was suprisingly flavorful and juicy. We also ordered the pad thai lunch with spring rolls. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy and tasty. The pad thai was great! I ordered the curry and it was just ok. Appetizer-wise, was a huge fan of their fries -- they were coated in a thin layer of sugar that made the fried potatoes have a hint of sweetness, which worked well. The dip that it comes with also was a hit. Not a fan of the calamari though --batter was way too salty which overwhelmed the rest of the squid. This Thai restaurant has been in my Bookmarks for awhile, so I was glad I finally had the chance to dine here for dinner with a friend. It was a super hot day, and there was no AC inside the restaurant. On top of that, the seating inside was pretty full and kind of cramped, so we sat at the bar, which wasn't the most comfortable spot. My friend and I shared the Fried Calamari and Yin-Yang Garlic Fries. The Calamari came with an addicting, creamy spicy mayo sauce. I enjoyed how crunchy and light the calamari was. The fries appetizer consisted of both regular potato, as well as sweet potato fries. The fries were quite salty and not very garlicky. They were, however, nicely crispy. For my entree, I was torn between the Salmon Supreme and Shrimp, or Dirty Duck Fried Rice. I finally decided on the Salmon Supreme and Shrimp. I also ordered a side of sticky rice, which had a small surcharge. I mean, how can you NOT have sticky rice, considering the name of the restaurant? I wasn't sure whether to go with the green or red sauce to accompany the salmon, so since the waitress mentioned the green sauce is on the spicy side, I selected the red sauce. This had a coconut base, and was layered with a lovely complexity of flavors. There were also several veggies in the dish, including green beans, tomato, bamboo, which were all perfectly cooked. The Salmon was wonderfully tender, delightfully flaky, well seasoned, and slightly crisp. There were a decent number of shrimp, which were large in size, juicy and succulent. The sticky rice was satisfyingly chewy with just the right texture and consistency. There was also a lovely, subtle sweetness to it. I was also able to try a little of the Dirty Duck Fried Rice, which consisted of green curry paste, mixed vegetable, along with an egg on top. I enjoyed this, and there was only a slight kick to it. The duck was meaty and flavorful. All the ingredients worked well together. I particularly liked the addition of the egg. Service was pretty good. The person taking our order behind the bar was polite and was knowledgeable about the menu. Prices were also fairly reasonable. Most starters were under $12, while entrees were generally under $20. I'm not sure I would return, because there wasn't much else on the menu I wanted to try. read more

ive been to sticky rice multiple times and have thoroughly enjoyed it. i went yesterday and had a horrible experience. first off we were not greeted and were left at our table for 30 minutes without putting in an order. it wasn't that busy (thursday night). my girlfriend ordered fried rice and while eating it she discovered there were SHARDS OF GLASS in her meal. we showed the waiter and then 20 minutes later he brought over a new fried rice. when i received the check i assumed the fried rice would be comped due to the danger of the glass. i asked and he said "what do you mean, we gave you another one", then i said it was pretty dangerous and he said ok i'll give you 10% off. i received the check and there was only 10% off the fried rice ($1 and some change). i am extremely disappointed and will not be coming back. read more

We came in at 6:30pm on a cold Friday night and the place was half full. By 7:30pm, not a single table was available, so plan accordingly and arrive before peak meal times. The space is small, not good for parties larger than 6. The reassuring Seats maybe 25 people at a time, max. Two tiny tables for two are available outdoors (no heating). Casual ambiance, modern music playing in the background. Suitable for a quick bite with friends. Relaxing and chill. Staff were efficient and courteous. The food was disappointing. Fried Calamari with Spicy Mayo appetizer was tiny for $13. Calamari were delicate, the batter fell right off. The $12 chicken & shrimp steamed dumplings (4 pieces) were completely bland if you do not count the red chilly powder sprinkled on top, to give them a much needed boost. How sad. Do not recommend. $16 chicken pad Thai had a watered down sauce and tasted not like your typical pad Thai. At least the portion size was filling. $16 chicken drunken noodles was inedible--the sauce was completely wrong and tasted like cough syrup. The staff were nice enough to bring me another dish, free of charge. Forgettable experience, you can find better in the area. read more

I can't say enough good things about Sticky Rice. It's not every day that I walk into a restaurant and immediately feel a vibe of love and amazing energy. Honestly, I felt such positivity the moment I walked in. The first things that will probably get your attention is how wonderful the restaurant is decorated, and the great music. Probably the next will be the delicious aroma coming from the kitchen. You will certainly fall in love with the friendly staff as well. The customer service here is outstanding in every way. I will certainly return for all the aforementioned things but I will certainly return for the food as well On this trip, I enjoyed a nice Basil stir-fry shrimp with rice. I can see Sticky Rice as a fun place to gather with friends, have some drinks, good food and great conversation. I came here for takeout and, owing to a misunderstanding of my order, I was charged for the 18 piece wing order and given the appetizer wing order to go, along with their pineapple shrimp fried rice and appetizer pork chops with their chili sauce. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon, when it was relatively quiet at Sticky Rice. I was treated most politely by everyone, including the person behind the bar who took my order. He offered a glass of water while I waited. I specified I wanted the 18 piece wings extra crispy along with the fries and agreed the appetizer sized pork chops would be sufficient with the pineapple and shrimp fried rice. I was disappointed to discover they only gave me the small appetizer sized wings of about six pieces. However, they were extra crispy and the chili sauce worked its magic with the wings. The chili and red pepper flake sauce accompanying barbecue dishes at Sticky Rice is addictive and I was just beginning to discover. If you have the wings without the chili sauce, you are doing yourself a disservice. When I had the pork chops, three mini pork chops pieces in the appetizer size, I learned the chili sauce was absolutely indispensable to wake up the palate for the pork, which is good on its own, but goes to another level with that chili sauce. You would do yourself the greatest disservice not to accompany the pork with the sauce. The sauce becomes an addictive sweet and spicy combo that will have you dunking everything in the ramekins, yes, fries included. The fried rice will also wake up if you have a very good soy sauce or other condiments at home. The pineapple shrimp fried rice has a fair number of shrimp, along with cashew nuts and onions to be satisfying. Otherwise, the star of the show here is surprisingly the chili and red pepper flake sauce that surely carries a whole lot more on the menu at Sticky Rice. Sticky Rice seems reasonably priced and my only gripe is the apparent miscue where I was overcharged for what I got. However, the people here were hospitable and I expect it was an error that can happen. Sticky Rice seems a reliable place for locals and friends to gather and enjoy a fun night together. The layout is efficient and makes the best use of space without feeling crowded. The tables lend themselves well to groups of six or eight if you have that many in your party. Their outdoor seating is a bit odd, they have a few tables right in from of their restaurant and a few high tops across the street. I ordered veggie pad thai for dinner. I wish it was a bit hotter in spice but it was very tasty. I loved how they added fried tofu for some protein. My friend ordered the pineapple fried rice. She said it was good and that it had a bit of a kick. What was disappointing was the drinks. We loved the lower price point for cocktails then most of the places near here but they weren't mixed well and kind of bland. Definitely a food go to spot rather then a drink with your friends spot. I stumbled upon this place while looking for something to bite on one Sunday evening in the lower east side. So glad I found this Thai spot. I was with my husband and a friend and they accommodated seating for us on the outside. This is still covid season here in New York so restaurants are doing outdoor dining. They also had a bottle of hand sanitizers for patrons to use as well as their menus were in plastic, i am guessing for ease of cleaning afterwards. I had the garlic fries with spicy mayo and some spicy wings which both tasted very very good. I also saw that they had cocktails and variety of wines and beer available. We came here on a Friday night cruising around Chinatown area trying to find a place to eat that didn't have a long wait or cash only and we stumbled upon Sticky Rice. They had the coolest amount of decorations for Halloween and thought this would be a neat place to eat. We waited less than five minutes and was seated. The menu looks enticing and though I have been craving Thai food for awhile I decided to have the small plates and ordered the Mango Flower Steamed dumplings. It's one of their signatures consisting of chopped chicken, roasted peanuts, sweet radish, and Thai herbs. The presentation and taste of the dish stood out for me within the first bite. Granted the dumplings could have been a tad bigger but it was pretty tasty! If you decide to order a main or noodle dish, you won't be disappointed with their portion sizes. My two friends ordered the Spicy Basil Drunken Noodles and Low Carb Pad Thai (Gluten Free). Both looked delicious and they were both left satisfied. Another standout to point out is the punctual in service. The servers were attentive with checking up on us and our waters were refilled constantly which was great! Looking around the neighborhood on a Saturday night to see what was available for outdoor seating. Came to this spot which only had about a thirty minute wait before the corner table outside became free. Plastic barriers separate each table, as well as heat lamp keeping the place plenty warm. After a quick look at the menu, settled on the Chicken Masaman Curry ($17), side of Roti Paratha ($3.50), and a "Thai Spicy" Margarita ($10). Cocktail comes out first - a chili flake covered glass with a strong tequila/juice ratio. For some reason the drink is extremely pulpy, which made for more chewing than drinking. Food comes out soon after - a moderate sized plate of marinated chicken and vegetables served with rice. After a few bites, realized the chicken and broth are incredibly sweet; something I wasn't expecting at all. Rice helped a bit but wasn't able to overcome the sweetness. The side of roti paratha is small considering the price - about half the size of a normal roti, sliced into tiny tortilla triangles. The roti itself is very greasy, which didn't pair well with the sweet chicken curry. Had to discard most of the meal in the end. Plus one star for the friendly service and quick delivery of food.
