The food was okay, I grabbed the plate with chicken, broccoli and rice. I was so hungry this day I ate my food pretty fast. Once I was about done I noticed a MAGGOT on my broccoli. The worst part is I called to let them know and they gave push back and called me a liar. They wanted me to go back and show them but I work and get off after they closed. Sticky Rice is really a misnomer for this place because the principal drug they deal out of this den is the tastiest, greasiest chicken in town. I guess Sticky Chicken, while more accurate, would not be as enticing for passersby. Yelp, Google and Facebook tell me this is either an "Asian" or Laotian restaurant but I really couldn't tell you either way. All I know is, they play bad ass Thai music videos on the tv all day long. For the uninitiated, Thai music videos basically borrow musical stylings from 2005 and all follow a narrative; a beginning, middle, and end. A guy and a girl are separated by forces beyond their control. Usually hearts are always broken and mended. They don't have time for high-concept Steven Soderbergh bullshit. It's really a perfect metaphor for this food, except your heart will never be broken. You can choose from chicken, chicken or chicken. It is not complicated. You can also stuff your face with their fried rice, noodles and of course, sticky rice. I think they have salad too, but if you get that, you're an idiot. The point is, there's beauty in simplicity and when your menu is this simple, it's hard to screw anything up. Maybe that's why this juicy-ass, flavorful chicken consistently knocks it out of the park. If the chicken is John C. Reilly, the homemade chili sauce is the Will Ferrell. It brings the spice and you really can't have one without the other. You will probably want to buy some extra sauce to take home. And you should, because you can't buy anything this fresh and delicious at fucking Smiths. I'd consume it intravenously if I could. The ambiance we touched on with the in-house entertainment, but beyond that, this is a comfortable place to eat a lunch. The tables are a sexy faux marble. Hell, maybe its real marble. There's always a mysterious plate of fresh fruit on a plate near the back. I've never touched it, and I don't know what it's there for, but I don't dare ask about that shit. I naturally assume it's there to please the Laotian chicken gods. Ki the Chicken Man (and no, don't call him that to his face) is the owner/proprietor and maestro of chicken and his family helps run the show. Ki is a prime example why anti-immigrant assholes can step off. He makes chicken and chili sauce better than my white ass ever could and I get exposed to a little culture every time I walk into his fine establishment. GO EAT HERE. In town on business. Found this place on yelp, based on reviews and location. I tried to come the day I arrived but I guess they were already out of food. I arrived at 430pm. Figured that was a good sign. I made it by there last night, and it was 100% worth the wait! The people were so nice. The guy and I talked football, while waiting for my food. The teriyaki chicken, with noodles, with easily the best I've ever had. It was so tender, and flavorful. I did also try the "sticky rice", It was good also. Whatever the mystery sauce is floating in the plastic container next to my lunch, it's spicy enough to inspire the bags under my tired eyes to perspire, and maybe even perk up a bit. The rice isn't actually sticky, as the namesake implies--in fact it's just a bit sweet. Goes fine with my sliced chicken and standard-issue bland veg. Everything's serve on styro and plastic (bleh), but it's a fast easy lunch just a step above Teriyaki Chicken Bowl. Wouldn't drive here, but it's not bad for being in the area. This place is awesome! Great prices for the amount of chicken and rice they give you. I switch between their house marinade chicken to the lemongrass grilled chicken. Both are delicious. Their fried rice is okay but the sticky rice really complements their chicken. The interior isn't at all glamorous but the service is quick. The girl working the grill is a hawk! She usually has your order out to you before the guy, who I'm assuming is the owner, even finished ringing you up. On busy days it may take longer and your food is typically brought to your table as you are sitting down. 12pm seems to be their most busiest time but it's well worth the wait...if you have to wait a couple of seconds. read more

I'm in town for work and I was pretty excited to see a Lao restaurant on the radar. For those of you who aren't familiar with Lao food, it's the same flavor profile as Thai food, but it definitely has it's own flair. Sticky Rice is not a sit down restaurant, but they have many tables for you to sit at when you get your order. The sticky rice is made well, not too soggy. My favorite was the lemongrass chicken, it reminds me of chicken that my aunts make. The sauce that is served is some sort of hybrid salsa/Lao sauce. That part isn't really authentic tasting, but I get the need to change the taste of food for local audiences. Overall, the food is good, place is clean, and they are have friendly service at reasonable prices. read more

She told me where Sticky Rice was and man oh man am I happy she did. This is 100 times better than Teriyaki Chicken bowl. The place is super small and not much to look at. They do 1 thing and they do it well. Chicken. You can see it cooking behind the front counter . Not a huge menu but they don't need one. You can have different variations of their chicken with rice . Delicious flavor to the chicken . Comes with a sauce that looks like salsa. Look out for that, it's not the normal salsa we think it is. It is hot! And it is good! I don't know why this place has such high reviews. The chicken is gross and the sticky rice is all dried up. I tried this place one time and didn't like it. Something about the taste of the chicken and the smell. The sauce is just eh. I decided to give it another try several months later and I should've listened to my first instinct. It's just not good. We were on our way to grab lunch and only had about 30 minutes. This area of town can get pretty congested with the lunch rush so I was hesitant to go somewhere like Hello Deli where I knew I'd be looking @ 40m minimum. We tried this spot and I don't regret it. The menu is bare bones, there are less than 10 items up for grabs. But, they are good at what they do. I had the noodles with steamed broccoli. I got noodles with 3 little pieces of broccoli. I'm not sure if there was a broccoli shortage or what but I definitely felt a little cheated. They did give my toddler free noodles so in the end it all balanced out. Also, we were out of there is less than 30 minutes so overall this choice was a success. I would go back to try the sticky rice and the staff was super nice. My wife and I had a mid-afternoon meal at Sticky Rice today and we both came away happy. We wanted a good, simple meal at a reasonable price and we got exactly that. This is a bare bones place with about 6-7 choices; we both had boneless chicken served on Asian noodles with steamed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots). The chicken had a glaze and there was a small cup of hot sauce (more like salsa, but hot and good). Everything was cooked to perfection and we both enjoyed our meals. My wife had the Thai tea and it was delicious, almost like a milk shake. My rating is based on the high quality of the food, and not the ambiance.
